There is no limit in the appetite of property developers and it will not stop untill the last little bit of natural and free beach has been colonized by concrete.
Sadly, Jumeira beach is only one small aspect of what is going on. The East coast is getting totally disfigured as well, everywhere wadis are spoilt and dirty and the desert too now looks like a gigantic dump, more and more damaged by Quads, 4*4 and so on.
In the Dubai strategic plan 2015, one can read "Maintain Dubai as a safe, clean, attractive and sustainable environment". Can anybody tell what that means exactly!
Without Jumeriah Beach, Jumerida Beach Hotel and Jumeirah Beach Residences do NOT deserve their names! The beach seems to be the only part of nature left in Dubai. Let it be!
When will the lunacy stop, i would like to ask, if any environmental issues have been addressed with this development, whether there has been any public consultation or whether anybody gives a stuff..I doubt it to all 3 questions. Another case of money buying power.....power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely
I am a visitor to Dubai and was disgusted to find builders putting up scaffolding and leaving building materials all over the beach for bathers to step on and injure themselves. How can the Ruler of Dubai condone this kind of badly planned building work? Soon, there will be no beaches left for wildlife, tourists and residents to appreciate. The seawater and sealife will be ruined and the natural buffer between the land and the sea will disappear. So, if you let this destruction go ahead, what do you think Mother nature's response will be? Use your common sense please!
Jumeriah is one of best Public beaches in this part of the country. Letting to go in hands of developers is stealing the little quality life we expats have. This is one of places where we go to unwind & destress ourselves.. Please dont take it away from us.
it is very sad that the Dubai government is focused in only making money but not looking after the welfare of common people. Stop this before this place becomes so unlivable.
I used to regularly swim laps of this beach before work. Closure would be a trajedy and where better to observe the icon of Dubai than from this beautiful beach!
There has to be a balance between development and free facilities allowing locals and visitors access to beaches is vital to the quality of life in Dubai, if you privatise your beaches you will kill the very thing that people love about the place. I visit regularly and would be sad to see this happen. Don't let greed rule.
A terrible shame for the Dubai community and why? Surely not every inch of the coastline should be developed. This would happen nowhere else becasue it does not make long term sense
Is there not one peice of dubai that is not for sale!!!! Give all of those people who live and work in Dubai and support its economy and growth, both Emirati's and expats something. Its diabolical that we have nothing left for us!!!
I have been here 28years and have watched all the beautiful beaches in Dubai disappear. My 3 sons have enjoyed many hours playing on those beaches and still go to the Jumeirah beach with their friends. Where will the children go to now?
Pure greed from the Dubai Government. When is enough building, enough!
The bigger picture is, thousands of people use this space. Where do we go now to relax without paying huge amounts of money!
I hope the beach will be saved. Each morning when I walk there for 40 mins I see at least 3 tourist buses stop and take photographs. It is already a great attraction!
There is already little public beach area. If this land is developed then not only will the public loose the use of this beach forever, but also the tourists which DXB is trying bring to the city. You must keep some undeveloped area's!
This is not even good for Dubai's business, people need to know that they can go to the beach and relax. That is the beauty of Dubai.. Restore the beach and Dubai will still be Healty. Thanks.
First the dredging for the Palm Islands and all the dead fish on the beaches, how quickly it was swept under the carpet the ecological damage there. And now taking away people's right to enjoy nature by setting up more hotels so you can charge them $100 to use what should be free. Where do you draw the line between progress and dispicable greed?
You fool around with nature and it will one day play a nasty game on you one day. When will Dubai realise it. In the name of modernisation, please don't make this place so artificial that it looses its charm completely.
You cannot do this to the larger community. it is one of the last few low-expense past times. Don't take that away from your people. Come on Dubai, you are bigger than that...
Interesting that Dubai's answer to the UAE having the highest ecological footprint in the world (WWF's Living Planet Report, 2004) is to allow this development
Please do not develop Jumeirah Beach. I think it is clear from this petition and the real estate prices on the beach front, that the area is doing very well on its own. This is the natural way that property prices increase. Jumeirah beach as it is, is a huge attraction for many residents and visitors, without it Dubai will lose alot of its charm.
This serene peace of beachfront is special to children and families alike. Many days I spent with my children on this beach and at the Ladies park across the road. Please don't close this area off from the public.
Once again the Dubai Government has shown complete disregard for its inhabitants - even though we are not citizens we are extremely proud of Dubai and is working hard to build it up - it is at times like this that I wonder why!?
Please don't close this beach!!! it's an icon of Jumeirah just like Burj el Arab next to it...not everything in Dubai has to be "developed" and "built" and "improved"...just let it be...it's beautiful as it is! everyone appreciates good projects that would improve life in Dubai, but this one has certainly NO BENEFIT for Dubai, however you look at it. This is just too much!
Please don't close this beach! If you love Dubai, don't close this beach... it all comes down to this.
