I love Dubai and to be honest I am not a great fan of hanging around at the beach. However I wholeheartedly believe that the free beach is an important part of Dubai that MUST be maintained.
please listen to the people who make this contry, who are your country and you respect your country. Leave us the last piece of natural beach, or else we'll all leave. many have already.
This is awful!! What will become of this country? There is already a lack of wildlife, nature etc now they keep buliding stupid buildings we well be left with no quite place to goto when your sad, to sun bathe and enjoy your day off, or to excersise, walk the dog!!! Something has to be done now!!!
Dubai is supposed to be a coastal resort. All premier coastal resorts around the world ensure endless access to all beaches and in fact ensure promenades, with their cafes and restaurants are a feature of the coast line - look at the French Riviera, Spanish coastal cities, Rio De Janiero, Los Angeles, Sydney, Cape Town etc. etc. Dubai authorities seem intent on eliminating access to beaches ensuring residents are in fact living in a desert resort. This is a decision that they will live to regret.
because sunset beach rocks my socks of. Its for the public to enjoy and it makes everybody happy. Theres enough new development with the palm islands and all the inland plans so why destroy something that is of natural beauty and will make people happy for years to come!!!
There are very few beaches left in Dubai. The Jebel Ali one is already lost to Dubai Water front and the public of Dubai needs atleast the Jumeirah beach. Else, we will be left with only private beaches.
I am an expact although I was born and brought up here. To me Dubai is home andyes its sad to see most of the beaches been taken off by construction and as a result the public would not have any plublic beach area to enjoy during weekends.I wish the goverment would consider the requests of the general public.
How dare you destroying the only remaining natural beach! In order to turn Dubai to an ugly industrial sight, which will soon be so dirty and unattractive to everyone? Most people have left their countries to come to Dubai previously because of the freedom of space and simplicity, this is the main attractions. Once this is gone, people are gone too.
This is unbelievable!! The beach is one of the few places we can still watch Ahmad cover himself in baby oil and jog up and down. Without this distraction I may have to resort to speaking to my girlfriend on the weekends. SOS
All of the surfing spots in Dubai have been destroyed due to the offshore developments. This beach was the last one. And now they're taking it away. Criminal!
There is precious little for tourists to do outside shopping/mall cruising which is not the principal reason why I would come to Dubai in the first place. If I cannot recreate by lying on a beach I will go to places where I can.As an expat the withdrawal of sport facilities like cricket, rugby etc grounds and now beaches coupled with a general deterioration in infrastructural services, has convinced me to return home from end June 07.
Enough beaches have been taken away from Dubai, this is the last one. Not all 15million tourists will stay in beach hotels with private access. Not to talk about residents, who will no longer enjoy living in Dubai as it becomes "the brightest, the biggest and the most luxurious" jungle of concrete, glass and steel on the planet.
if all the beaches and especially the jumeriah beach is given to the developers that are widely spreading all over the UAE who would later on prohibit the public from using the beach or to pay a fee just to pass and to use that facility, then how would we enjoy the beach in Dubai or how would anyone enjoy living in Dubai if all these borfers are being implemented on us and and drawing lines on using facilities or public beaches such as the jumeriah beach. If they do that i think that they will be losing more than the gain, the public will get fed up of everything or anything that they wish to enjoy would end up for a fee to use it. how could they even think of restraining the public from such right and to forbid such natural enjoyment?!!!!!!!!!
At the end of the day our natural resources are more important than our materialistic wealth. We need to save the beach for future generations. We are destroying the natural balance of our environment – enough is enough, we need to stop this now!
I moved to Dubai, cause it's a beach city, not sure if ill still be interested to live here afterwards or not when I can't jog on the beach every evening and sun bathe on the weekends.
It is the only beach with surfable waves for the surifng community. The other open beaches have been filled with sand destroying any potential surfable waves that they had.
Does it really matter what the expats think, probably not. I have lived in Dubai for over 22 years, and certainly seen the best of Dubai disappear around me. It’s the locals of Dubai I feel sorry for, seeing their country destroyed by the ruthless developers who only purpose in life is to destroy the heritage and natural landscape to fill their own pockets. Ever been to Torramalinos!!
The one thing people want when they holiday here is to visit the beach, shopping is also important but you can do that once the sun goes down.
Destroy the beaches and the sun tourists will find somewhere else.
That is Dubai, u take something beautiful and u turn it in to a ugly peace of steal and bricks. If the close it, they should rename jumeirah beach in to jumeirah ugly concret. Do not touch the Beach.
I have lived in Dubai for 30 years, it used to be a better place but now I think you have lost the appeal. No beaches, no recreation just places to spend money like hotels and shopping malls......next plane outa here sounds good. Will turn the lights off when I leave.
this is the only place that i love in dubai this is the only place that i can relate to, you cant just take it away, otherwise i have nothing left in this city
Plenty is being done on building attractive properties/clubs to attract more tourists and more residents to Dubai. Some more thought needs to go into catering to the residents already here otherwise they wont stay for long. This is one of the reasons why residents put up with the traffic, the high rents, the long hours at work, the construction - because at the end of the week, we can go to the beah. If you take this away, there really wont be much left.
Please keep the beach open to the public and retain some sense of community in dubai. Stop making decisions based on profit which encourage class segregation.
