I am a new to Dubai and I am terrible sadenned and horrified for the closure of this last open free beach. If this is supposed to be a new hotel / residential development, developers are not clear in their mind of the horrible message they are sending around the world. There is a lot of land around Dubai for them to use and create water ways ... no need to touch a beautiful beach !! People around the world would shake their heads in disgust by what they are seeing happening here.
Nature has provided oceans and beaches for all to enjoy, it lifts the spirit. Will Dubai be the first country to disenfranchise the majority of citizens of its use or view for the privileged few? Please say no to this and any further developement along this foreshore.
You need to also consider the Dubai residents who want to keep enjoy the public beach. There is enough 4* residences and hotels available for tourists. STOP that construction!!!!
I am very disappointed that after turning New Dubai into a monstrosity, people just arent satisfied. Dont we have some environment conservartion agency that can say "stop being greedy". How did the govt even sell this piece of land to private developers??
I was born in Dubai. I married here and now have a daughter of 6months. My dream is for her to surf the same beach I started on. Please dont take this wonerfull place away from all of us who love it so much
I support this petition, without this beach there will be almost no access to the beach which a Dubai legacy. The beach should stay open to the public.
Access to the sea is a necessity. Leave the Jumeirah public beach free to the public.
Had Dubai Municipality asked the people who live in Dubai "Do you think closing Jumeirah Public Beach" to make room for one more hotel is a good idea? There would have been a thunderous NO!
Dubai likes to think of itself as a business, but this is a terrible business idea, as it breeds ill will, and reduces the quality of the Dubai brand.
To what extent will the government pay attention to the desires and wishes of its residents? What sort of representation is reflected in the national population? For sure, residents, nationals and visitors alike have enjoyed the beauty and serenity of Jumeirah Beach and would hate for it to be stolen from them.
i think it is a detriment to society that such an event should occur it would be sad to see such culture being demolished by the construction of selfish corporate and touristic busineses who pilage the land in order to gain and maximise profit. Do not take away the bond that citizens and non-citizens alike have formed with the beach.
Dubai is constantly changing, forever developing, getting bigger and 'better'. But the one thing that will always stay put is our coastline.
Apparently.
Don't take away the one thing that we thought we'd get to keep. To remind us of the town we once knew and loved.
Tourists come and go, but we're not going anywhere. And neither should our beaches.
A friend of mine recently died in a car accident on al wasl road... as a tribute to his life his ashes were scattered from this beach - the beach had foprmed the setting of so many years of his teengage life. this can't be taken away from him, or from us.
I disagree with the re-development of the natural beach line. with the palm, and world projects they are already disturbing the water and its colour. lets keep something in dubai in its natural state.
Dear Your Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai;
Dubai has enough artificial landscapes, complexes, beach fronts, and islands. We beg your kind consideration to spare us something natural, just like the way God created it.
As you have known yourself, Dubai so far has 3 palm islands across its offshore, not to mention The World.
Please listen to our plea.
Please consider us, the people who resides in your emirate, and even has consider Dubai as our homes, although we are not emiratis.
This is part of the lifeblood of Dubai, and for anyone who grew up there, a huge source of memories. Please be a little less of a commercial empire and a little more of a city and home.
There is no need to take away this beach from the people of Dubai. Too many beaches have been taken away as it is. Certain people are just getting too greedy!
I just arrived in Dubai and can't believe that they are seriously taking away this beautiful piece of beach - so far I was quite impressed by what Dubai achieved or is planning to achieve but in this matter - they go back 100 years!
dont take my special space away..... i get inspired by this beach , it has sentimental value to meeeee and to all the localssssss and expaaaaaaaaaaaaaats.... stop doing this or God will take revenge on us.....
this is totally nonsensical ... jumeira beach is the best for all kinds of people and all kinds of ages ...
this is totally ridiculous ...
if this continues in Dubai ... there will be no more natural beauty in this wonderful city ...
dont destroy the beach.. think about the animals that come there.. the turtles.. it will decrease the poulation.. come on please! dont destroy another batural wnder in beautiful dubai!
I agree with Bayik "I think there's enough unhabited space &desert in the country to build on, why go straightfor the naturally beautiful palces? Justdoesn't seem wise really..."
Slow down Dubai! Think carefully! Remember, once you let it go, it's gone forever.
Soon we will hear something like this............
"Attention passengers!!!
We are now approaching Dubai. From the left side of the aircraft you will be able to see the beautiful beaches. Look now because unless your fortunate enough to be staying at one of the beach hotels, this is the last you will see of them"
Now wouldn't that be a shame?
