To assume that the people who live and work in Dubai do not need the freedom of the beach and sea to walk along and enjoy is a huge oversight of a governing body that has said yes to removing it from us. It is unimaginable to consider not having the freedom to feel the sea around your feet or sit on the beach and let the cares of life wash away. In a fast paced city it is the one place of peace and quiet.
It’s a shame for sure, no wonder UAE might come up with a slogan “ pay if u wanna breath”. I guess UAE needs to invest on nature than on constructing buildings, coz NATURE gives freedom and BUILDING build barriers.
Im a UAE national and ive been going to that beach all my life. There are very very few public beaches left in dubai. The natural beauty of dubai will not be reflected through concrete buildings and money..just keep some beaches as beautiful as they were intended to be. Jabal Ali beach was my favorite camping spot n now its the PALM.. Most of the people will never live there. This beach is beautiful, hell its the only one left. I fully support this petition and if there is anything i can do please notify me.
The beach is a favourite spot with my family and friends, it is one place where you feel you are part of a community. It would be a shame to see it handed over to developers.
This is the last beach that is left for the public, most people cannot afford to join the extremely expensive private beach clubs.
LEAVE SOMETHING FOR THE PUBLIC, YOU DON'T NEED MORE EXPENSIVE RESORTS
i agree with everyone the beach is truely the best part about dubai and we dont need anything else built but we need the beach. the beach is what makes dubai great keep the beach its a wonderful place the last thing we need now is another resort/hotel
I keep asking myself Why? Why do we need another hotel / resort / multimillion dollar complex? Why does Dubai need to keep stripping down public places of fun and enjoyment and turning them into another private money making fake spinoff? The only answer which I can possibly come up with is greed. For a city as forward thinking as Dubai, it has no concept of what the people that actually live here want. The only sort of comparison I can make about living in this city is that of being a staff member in Disney Land. The only people that Dubai really caters for without getting involved in the business side of things is the tourist on a dodgy package. Now don't get me wrong, Dubai has a lot to offer in terms of making a living, but it has made the fundamental crossover of having people working to live rather than living to work. What do you do on a weekend or any time off that you get? Beaches are closed, the Jebel Ali beaches are an absolute mess, Hatta looks terrible, even the desert, which is supposed to be sacred looks like a dumping ground for rubbish.
I don't mean to have a rant here, but for a city to be successful it has to cater for the people that actually live here as well as people that are just visiting. Without their happiness there can be no city, people will leave, people will go home to their own countries. Unfortunately I can't, this is my country. Is it time now to stand up and let these multi-million dollar companies hear a common voice that we don't want another resort on one of the only public beaches this side of town?
Then again, maybe I have got it all wrong. Who needs a beach where your public can relax after a stressful week? Who needs a beach where sometimes the surf gets up and you can catch a pre-work wave (although not that big)?
What do you guys think?
This is truly killing the goose that lays the golden egg - what's the point in buying a holiday flat in Dubai if you can't have access to the public beach?
It's a shameful thing to even think about something like that. This country is becoming greedier by the minute even if faking the natural is the price. I'm sorry to say I'm born here.
Would it not be wonderful to have our own beach that thrives on outdoor culture like Miami South Beach, Venice Beach in LA, or Copacabana in Rio.
Mmmm. Instead we now have a construction site and soon another private hotel with fake beach club.
The greed that has gripped this country is out of control. Dubai is steadily heading for ultimate disaster and inevitable collapse. The blue collar workers who prop this plastic society up are getting to a point of calling it a day and going home because each new day that rises something else that as once free to enjoy becomes another greedy commercial enterprise. Way to go Dubai……….
This is the last of real nature in Dubai. Please dont spoil it. Its beautiful actually the most beautiful place in dubai which is a concrete jungle otherwise
I 100% Support the cause but one has to realise the Government requires this money to complete the construction of underway projects. So that they can sell. A fine example is the Fines implemented, Hike in rents, They have to pay the builders or suffer reprecussions, I also understad the Emirates will be taking a huge load from the world bank. Prestiege Punctured. So this is not going to be the end of our problems, Road Toll, raise in import taxes, will be directly pushed on to us. While the quality of product will dwindle to the gutters.
I walked for the last time this morning along a beach that I've spent 4 years walking on. Sad but something you have grown to expect in Dubai. Here today, gone tomorrow.
In a place already starving of quality avenues to Relax and Unwind, taking away one of DXB's ONLY beaches is a PURE SHAME whatever the reason! Cheers to the Decision Makers who clearly have never been there or could care less about the people! 365 days of Sunshine to enjoy on your Balcony NOW, if you have one!
Dubai needs the beach! why will tourists who flock over from the world do so if there is no beach here, where are they expected to go? and us ? expats who go there weekly. We love Dubai and we Love the Umm Sequiem Beach ! SAVE IT PLEASE
I spent 35 years of my working life contributing to the success of the UAE. Now at retirement it's a great shame I am unable to sit, and relax on the public beach and enjoy the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf.
I'm sure my life will never be the same again if they closed the beach, I live in Umm Suqeim 2 & I moved there only to be close to the open beach & now they r closing it for money??
Aged 7. At least my mum was able to take me to the pubic beach - but sadly my brother will not have the same great time as me. It's back to Brighton beach - with pebbles but still acceptable.
Why sacrificing others' rights to grant more care to people who have everything in life? When will we learn to love and care for people who are underprevileged without curtailing their rights which is the essence humanity????
This beach should stay open to the public for ALL residents of Dubai to enjoy. Building yet another development is pure greed and will back fire in the long run.
