Why does the government want to mess with the beach. They're allready messing with the surrounding views with big blocks of concrete, do they really need to ruin one more spot? A spot where people can come together and meet for free (An ever diminishing concept in dubai!!!). Please just leave us this beach.
There arent many places one can go and relax in nature. Dubai is continuously under construction. Taking the beach away from the public be a shame because alot of people go there to relax. SAVE THE BEACH!
We are very sad because we have had lots of fun on the beach and great memories please keep our beach from being built on. For the next generations ahead. VERY SAD!!!
The beautifull open beach is so important for us who live in Dubai : it makes the joy of our Childre, the joy of our visitors and the pride of the city. It makes the city a nice place to live it. Please don't destroy what makes us happy and what makes Dubai a lovely place.
Look at other cities with coastlines, they all have public beaches which give the city its soul. This is exactly why I keep hearing that Dubai has no character, it's all just pretentious developments, nothing for the people who actually live here.
This is sooooooo bad,
We had so much fun on this beach + this is an excellent attraction for the tourists
Why ? Just to make a bit more money for the riches.
How about the mass, the people who came here to make what Dubai is now.
There's already so many big complex and developments. Why one more? why this one?
Why can't we just keep that piece of land as an Icon for Dubai
Soon that will be nothing nice left and will just have to pack up and go home
So sad
Where are the children of today and the next generation going to play, going to draw inspiration from and going to breathe in nature? Please don't take this away from them...we need more of NATURAL inspiration and less of soul-less uninspiring concrete walls...give us back our space.
This beach is beautiful and natural. My family and i have spent many days/hours on this beach. Leave something for the residents of Dubai to use. It will be a very sad day indeed when this is closed to the public. SAVE THIS BEACH, it is a crime to close it!
How can you have a resort that markets itself to tourists around the world which doesnt have public beaches? Dubai will get such negative publicity if this closure goes ahead. Surely this should mean something to the powers-that-be even if they dont care what its residents think.
I can't believe that the government won't regret this within 5 years. Jumeirah Beach Residence is HIDEOUS, now they are going to build on one of the only bits of coastline left open to the public? Why aren't they learning the lessons from Lanzarote etc?
Really saddened by the awful news to develop this stretch of public beach. Nice to have an opportunity to voice our displeasure. Five of us in this household alone enjoy its beauty for recreation plus many of our friends who visit Dubai
we would hate to see jumeirah beach turn into yet another over priced over developed part of dubai, we have to ask ourselves will duabai start charging for the air we breath
How many more hotels, businesses can be shoved into our coastline? Preserve and protect our natural beauty! That's what Dubai and the UAE where known for in the past!..let's keep what little we have of it for the present and the future!
Now where are we supposed to surf? It's like the last surf beach left! And what else can we do at weekends if all the beaches go,MOTE every single week?? Thats supposed to be whats great about dubai, the beaches!
Quite often it is said that Dubai leads the way. Closing off yet another section of beach is definitely NOT a way to lead. I have often said to people that Dubai has become a town by the sea where the only way to see the sea is from the top of a multi-storey building on the Sheik Zayed Road. There is very little chance of seeing any beach which makes a mockery of the whole place. It speaks volumes for the 'damage' the City Fathers have allowed that we even have to refer to a beach area as a 'public beach'!At least Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have fine looking Corniches.
Please let us keep what little bit of beach there is left.
to truely enjoy the real pleasures of life in its purest greatness it takes very little, so don't take God's gift to human kind...don't take the beach away from people.
Jumeirah Public Beach is the only place where people dont have to pay entrance to lie on the beach!!! Don't think about profit all the time, think about the people!!!!!!!
It's a disgrace. Greed has overtaken better sense once again and the point of healthy development is being completely ignored. The focus on getting new investors in is destroying the spirit of Dubai that attracted those of us who have been here for a few years.
It's a tragedy that Dubai is willing to sell every strip of beach to the highest bidder without a thought for preservation. If this continues, there will be nowhere left for residents--the beaches will be for rich tourists only.
Thanks to the campaigners who give us the opportunity to react and maybe try to change things...
Living in Um Suqeim with my husband and 2 kids, I am just one out of thousands residents to feel really sad about this news. We actually consider it as a disaster.
Besides that, and more importantly; I wonder what good it can do to Dubai? To have one more luxury resort on the sea front! It is adding superficiality to this city and its excessive urban development, pollution, abuse and exhaustion of the planet's natural resources. At a time where massive efforts are made to spread awarness about the environmental issue, this is just chocking!
Then, I beleive that the creation of superficial, artificial world also creates a society detached from the real values (including the love of nature) and attached to cars and high-rises and technology only. A society needs to be attached to its home land and its nature; this one is more and more detaching.
It is shocking news that the government plan to build on this public stretch of beach. Not everyone likes to pay 200 dirham plus into 5 star hotels just to use the beach!!! Please think of all the people who use this beach to play with their kids, sunbathe, exercise, surf...this is the stuff that makes Duabi somewhat 'real', without it this place is just a money hungry concrete jungle.
The beach is a natural beauty and MUST be preserved as it is and accessible to everybody. Create a roteceted area instead. It will not generate profit now but you will be thanking in 10 years , wehen you stil have to show a natural, public beautiful spot in this concrete jungle of artificial Marinas, beaches and waterfront.
We have lost almost all the beautiful beaches we used to enjoy in Dubai - to 5 Star hotels. The ordinary people who live here should be allowed to enjoy Allah's gift to the world of sand and sea
Why take away this only save accessable, naturel free public beach from the people that make Dubai live. There are plenty of other spaces on Dubai costline for the government to have a commercial project. Please let the people be able to enjoy this only nice natural beach.
This is one of the most beautiful places in Dubai. There is much more to a great city than just buildings - open spaces and attractive natural environment are also vital. Please think twice about allowing this development to go ahead, losing for ever one of the last natural places in Dubai.
The government of Dubai should really be thankful for having such a nice beach. God given gifts should not be altered just for the sake of money. C'mon, isn't it enough for Dubai? Spare the beach, please.
