It seems inconceivable that in future only tourists staying in five star hotels will be able to use Dubai's beaches. Umm Suqueim beach is very popular with local people, expats and visitors alike. If there is no public beach then a large part of the attraction of Dubai as a destination will be lost. Please see sense !
It would be such a shame to build 'resorts' on this beautiful natural part of Dubai. There will be no natural parts of Dubai if the construction continues.
Closing this beach as a matter by itself might not seem to be a big deal, if you look top down as a ruler. But when you consider that it's always just a straw that breaks the camels neck, I predict this will be the one for many.
All the housing developments promote Dubai as a wonderful place to live, but this beach is one of the main reasons why it is. Do something decent and keep it.
Is really Dubai on a "fund raising" spree? Not only a toll fee but also this? Please preserve this jumeirah beach to public. I am afraid maybe in the future even the air is not free here in dubai.
After the construction of all those horrible islands in the coast of dubai this beach os the only beach the remains "surfable" please people dont let them close the beach. An angry surfer
Dubai is becoming for the Rich and Only Rich, let's please keep the beach for the Normal folks and protect the coastline environmentally as well. God Bless!
!n 1990 we almost lost Bastakia to development until the first Gulf War and Dubai's realisation of the value of tourism stopped it. Now they're making the same mistake again. When will the powers-that-be realise that 90% of the tourists and residents don't live in 5-star hotels and complexes, and yet still enjoy the beach? When it's too late and Dubai is bracketed with Torremolinos?
My wife and I have been coming to Dubai for 14 years, for holidays, and look forward to regular visits to Jumeirah Beach to watch the sunsets We are appalled at this turn of events, particularly when efforts are now cbeeing made to conserve wildlife and the environment.
I have lived in Dubai for the last 21 years and have watched Dubai expand and progress however in the process every ounce of charm and character has been drained away. Continue like this and there will be nothing natural left.
I am 10 years old and living in the UK. Everytime I look out of my window and see the miserable weather, I fill my head with the warm and peaceful memories of Jumeirah beach, one of my favourite places in the world. Please don't take away my memories, thank you
Dubai is this perfect mixture of wild places, old charm and world class archistecture. Why transform it into another one of these vulgar resorts..leave some spaces of freedom and charm..a healthy beautiful city cannot be ALL about money and buildings !!( think of Vancouver open beaches)
My kids have grown up on this beach! It is a wonderful family recreational beach. This is the straw that has broken the camel's back for us and we are looking to leave Dubai as this development is drowning us.
Since living in Dubai since 93,my children and husband spend our weekends at the beach, looking on rocks for crabs and playing ball, watching the sunset...why oh why would you want to spoil another beach....very sad..where will we go now!!!!
Not everyone in Dubai can afford a villa with swimming pool or a beach club fee. A free beach is vital for a lot of families and is a great place to learn about the others.
Dubai has the opportunity to be one of the great places to live in, Dubai should not spoil it taking of the things that made it attracting in the first place.
I have walked the beach all the way from JBH to the drydocks many times. Each time it has been a different experience. The ocean and the beach is alive and vibrant, but in a very different way than the rest of Dubai. Walking it is such a nice way to "escape" the city. It will be a great pity if this is closed to the public.
I was disgusted to find out that someone somewhere just decided to close the best public beach in Dubai. without any communication with the public itself. are we really living in a civilised country?
Tonight I went to the beach and when I saw the white wall I couldn't believe, that Dubai went so fair....Is really so so sad! Please don't close the beach, u have other places for building...thank you :(
Please leave us somewhere to go that isn't the inside of a shopping mall...we love this beach and would dearly LOVE to be able to continue to use it ...
Dubai public beach needs to remain accessible to everyone; for the joy of walking, seeing the children playing and reviving ! for the Dubaians, and the expats who decide to make Dubai "home" for a while; keep the beach !
I think the government should slow down, take a deep breath (or a walk on the beach)and start thinking about their goals, as well as, cause and effect. Things appear to be boardering on "out of control"???????
What will be left for the people who actually live and work in Dubai? The families who make what Dubai is. This city is loosing her heart piece by piece. It's a shame
Save the beach for our childres. Not everybody can afford a private beach club. This beach is part of the community life - and it has to remain as such!
Don't take the last bit of public beach away - it is part of the heritage and soon nothing will be left, only annonymous concrete blocks. Is Dubai trying to ruin itself?? It can not all be abouot money, arab countries care about the people living in their country.
save the beach, I can't not beleive this, they are only a few nice left that you really can enjoy in Dubai, Our beach is one of those things.... Don't let them to destroy our especial places.
Leave this wonderful open space alone. In the sprall it is wonderful to able to sit in the park opposite see the sea and smell it. Then run over the road before going home and run on the beach. When everyone is talking about fitness is a place where people can exercise freely be taken away?
Dubai use to be a place of peace and calmness. The rulers seems to forget that there are people who live and work here, not just tourists and travellers. Please save the beach.
