The plan is to close those old, natural, boring public beaches and make hundreds of new artificial & expensive ones deep in the sea (the World, Palm(s), etc.) for the newly rich...
A real shame if someone doesn't see sense and keep this beach open... Enough of this mindless expansion - save one of the few natural places still open for everyone to appreciate.
One of the natural pleasures of living in Dubai is being taken away from us, this place called home is becoming a paid prison.
Let the beaches be free for all!
We are lucky enough to live minutes away from this beach on foot and it is a joy to see it utilised by so many people every day of the week. Down there yeterday with the boards up it felt as though one of the lungs of the city had been cut out!
This beautiful beach is part of real Dubai. People use the beach daily for relaxing or exercising. Don't spoil one of the few remaining community places for the sake of yet another luxury development.
Leave some non-commercialised beach left! Come on, Dubai - save some of those natural spots and give something back to the people who keep the country running!
Please don't let greed ruin the simple pleasures that are left. It will be too late and we'll all be forced to return to owr countries. We are alreday just nuts and bolts in this HUGE machine called Dubai.
My children aren't interested in 5star hotels, luxury villas, restaurants and bars, they just want to collect shells, build sandcastles and watch the sun set. And so do I! The beach is the heart of our community for young, old, expat and local and should not become an exclusive development that only tourists or the wealthy can enjoy.
Please think before closing off one of Dubai's only remaining beaches. Beaches should be public and for everyone - it's part of a city by the sea's charms. It may not matter to tourists but it will affect your massive expat population - and there are plenty of other places to work with public beaches. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for expats.
As an Emirati it is difficult to speak out but I do not agree with what is happening. Yes, we get priveliges and advantages in our own country - but it seems forgotten that we also enjoy simple pleasures like a free beach.
Kiters and surfers are no longer aloud. Having bbqs and overnight camping is no longer aloud. Enjoying god's given nature is no longer aloud. So what is aloud?
A great city can be measured by the sense of community and common pride in the enjoyment of its natural resources. Jumeirah beach is one of the few “natural assets” left that all people can enjoy equally; it should be nurtured and protected for the benefit of the city and its entire people, rather than removed from the community.
