I agree with the thousands of other devestated OC fans, there was just no good reason to kill off Marissa. She is one of the most important characters on the show and it would not be the same without her. Even if Mischa isn't on the show, Marissa does not have to be dead. And bringing in Caitlin will not do any justice, personally I don't even really like her character. If Marissa is really dead then I do not plan on continuing my weekly viewing of what I have believed to be the best show on television for the last 3 years, The OC. Sad story.
Im a very big fan of this fantastic show! And my heard just stop for a second when i read it on the OC site.. It's SO wrong if she dies!!! She's just as important as Ryan!!! Does she have to die? Can't she just pass out anf get to the hospital and wake up again.. Like a koma or something.. It would destroy the show if she died!!! Caleb's daeth was okay.. But not her!! she doesn't deserve to die.. I'm not sure that i would watch the show if she died!!! It's very wrong!!
I support this petition as Marissa is a core character of the show. I think it is wrong to kill off a character who belongs to one of the cor couples as the fans for these couples, for example Ryan/Marissa and Seth/Summer, make up a large proportion of the overall fanbase. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue wathing it if Muscha Barton is not a season regular next season but I think that the show could lose up to 25% of its fanbase because some people are such exclusive fans of Ryan and Marissa being a couple. With the loss of these viewers the ratings will decrease, limiting the chances of a fifth season and any season after that. I think the writer's made a mistake by releasing a preview which said that one of the characters will die because now there is no possibility of reversing the decision after seeing the reactions of fans. I am very sad to say that this could be the downfall of The OC. The only way to stop this is to bring back Marissa Cooper and give the viewers hope. The creators may think that the decision is already made for her to die, bearing in mind the previews that were shown before the finale, but it seems that they did not take the fans' opinions into consideration. Going against the previews would be a lot better than losing fans and any possibility of a future series for the show. I hope that this petition is successful and that the decision can be reversed as Mischa Barton will be a great loss to the show. I thought the finale episode was one of the best this season up until the last five minutes. The last five minutes took away any semblance of hope that any Ryan/Marissa fan for them getting back together.
Killing off Mischa was a HUGE mistake. As far as I'm concerned killing her off made last night's episode a 'series finale' for me. If she wanted to leave the show to explore a movie career, why not just let her go for a season or 2? Maybe she'd have a change of heart after a year off. But killing her character off essentially killed the show as far as i'm concerned.
What the hell happened here, couldn't they just let her sail off with Jimmy? I mean now we have to watch another bunch of grieving episodes. And OC writing dudes Those are getting pretty lame and boring.
Just let Ryan or something realize it was only a dream.
From the very first episod I was stucked and that's because of Marissa. Without her the show will be just another show and not the best show in the world, that it been so far.
