On July 1, 2008, Starbucks announced its decision to close 600 stores across the U.S. in the next year. That decision includes the plan to close the Greenville Ave Starbucks Location, Store #6262. While a date for this store closing has not been set, the employees of this store confirm that store #6262 is on the "list" to be closed, despite the fact that this store has been profitable and has increased profitability from the previous year.

There is still time to influence Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, regarding his decision to close OUR STARBUCKS, Store #6262, if we act now! Please take a moment to support these efforts by signing this petition.

We are asking Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, and the Starbucks Coffee Co. to reconsider the decision to close store #6262 and to closely examine the financial and community PAYOFFS of keeping this store open. We urge Howard and the Starbucks team to recognize that Store #6262 embodies the very principles that Starbucks says are important, such as:

--> fostering community and providing a "Third Place" for adults to network and to socialize

--> providing a place for entrepreneurs and small business owners to meet and do business

--> becoming THE neighborhood meeting place of Residents of Greenville Ave and the M-Streets Neighborhoods

We believe that Starbucks #6262 is EXACTLY what Howard Schultz envisioned when he founded Starbucks. If Howard and Starbucks are committed to these original ideas, then they will keep the Greenville Ave location open.

354 22 Aug 2008 - 0:00    Debby Bosselman: I support this petition. This is not a one community Starbucks but where 3 neighboring communities converge to unite as one larger group. Truly this store embodies the Starbucks - Be A Neighbor - Philosophy. I would challenge you to create this sense of community with in-store grocery concepts. Though I visit these, this is certainly NOT where I go to be a neighbor. Rest assured, though many of us are loyal fans of Starbucks - this loyality will be tested when you have no presence and there comes another offering in the neighborhood. Marketing can NOT buy this level of loyalty which is support of our neighborhood vendors. Good luck, Howard.
353 20 Aug 2008 - 20:23    Sarah D: I support this petition. Unlike with other locations that are closing, there is not a good alternate for people in this neighborhood looking for an easily accessible stop on the way to work in the morning.
352 16 Aug 2008 - 23:54    Neon Java: The regulars at the Atlanta-Vinings Starbucks have produced a good video and posted it to YouTube to protest the closing of their Starbucks. With the considerable talent among the regulars of the Lower Greenville-Dallas (Store 6262) and our passionate defense of it, we ought to be doing the same! At YouTube, look for "Don't Close Vinings Starbucks" (9 minutes, 28 seconds. (sorry, I'd provide the URL, but Petition Site does not permit links.)

349 15 Aug 2008 - 2:55    Jessica Turner: I support this petition. This is not one of the stores that should be shut down, they are friendly and make the store into a true 3rd place.
348 14 Aug 2008 - 4:42    David Cheng: I support this petition. Then them be genuine and involved in their community, and their neighborhood values them and has created a great relationship over the past 6 year.

341 11 Aug 2008 - 14:24    Todd Pevehouse: Okay, here's the deal, I need this particular Starbucks to remain open. First, it is a great part of our little close-knit neighborhood/community. Neighbors, family and friends go there on a regular basis to conduct business and/or life. Dallas is known by outsiders to be superficial and cold. Starbucks store #6262 shows people the exact opposite -- a warm, friendly retail environment - PLUS a hot steaming cup of joe (or frozen cup of joe, if you're so inclined). How often do you get to say "warm, friendly retail environment" in your lifetime??? Second, my wife NEEDS this Starbucks to remain open. And the old saying is true...if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. WAKE UP CORPORATE AMERICA!!! Keep store #6262 open!

338 9 Aug 2008 - 16:59    Theresa Vance : I support this petition.
337 9 Aug 2008 - 16:55    Jeff Vance : This Starbucks is the easiest one to get into, pack and get out of with a to go order. Knox, Mockingbird/Abrams, Mockingbird Station, McKinny/Cole, Greenville/Oldtown and Greenville/Caruth Haven are all parking and traffic nightmares.
336 9 Aug 2008 - 14:32    Christine Foley : I support this petition. Please re-consider closing the Islandia, NY Starbucks. It's been in operation for 13 years. It's our neighborhood coffee house. We NEED it.

322 1 Aug 2008 - 20:14    Susan : I support this petition. Don't close my 'work" Starbucks on Wethersfield Ave, Hartford, CT. The people are really nice and make a great chai. Besides, I am not all that happy with work and getting a chai every morning helps me through the day (and sometimes the afternoon!)
321 31 Jul 2008 - 20:46    Matt Gorsuch : I support this petition. My wife and I move from Chicago to Dallas last year and didn't know anyone. Through our daily vists to Starbucks and the friendly staff, we have met new friends and truely few a part of this community. All thanks to Starbucks!!!!
