I support this petition. I like Starbucks but all the stores are pretty much interchangeable (in a good way). But this store is unique in its ambience. Pity if it closes. Actually Peets is more convenient for me if this one no longer exists.

This location has character and history that make it unique. Given the location of my office, my business will go to Peet's. Given it's location and ambience, Peet's is far preferable to the McStarbucks on Centre.

I support this petition. This has to be one of the best Starbucks around. It is a very convenient location and the train arriving sign means I can wait inside and still catch my train. I will never bother with the other Newton Centre Starbucks as it has no character whatsoever.

I agree that Starbucks needs to close a location in Newton Center. It was a quirk that they ended up with two after their acquisition of Seattle's Best. But close the Union Street Station starbucks? That's UNTHINKABLE. I think that virtually zero of the traffic in the Union Street shop will move to the Center Street shop. In contrast, much of the Center Street traffic would move to the Union Street shop.

Great service, convenience, location, location, location, for these reasons I support this petition. With the Centre Street Starbucks on the other side of the Centre and with a Peet’s Coffee and Dunkin Donuts (yuck) much closer they will unfortunately get my business. I am sure the many commuters who are dropped off at the “T” and grab a cup of coffee before their train ride will not be visiting the Centre Street Starbucks before they board the train, maybe another coffee house will realize this is a prime location and move in?

I support this petition. This particular location is special. It is an important part of my family's life and of the fabric of the Newton Center neighborhood. If your business case relies on the Center Street location picking up a large share of Union Street's business, please reconsider, because I don't believe it will happen. I also will join a broader protest against Starbucks if this location closes. I don't know if $100/month in retail sales matters to you, but that represents the amount of my business that Starbucks will lose.

I support this petition. There are so many choices for coffee in Newton Center, but this location stands by itself. Its unique architecture, and amazing service (even relative to the nearby tiny cookie-cutter starbucks on Beacon), make it the destination of choice. I don't and won't go to the nearby Starbucks, it has no ambiance.

This is one of hte most unique Starbucks locations I've ever been to. It has historical appeal as a building and gets attention because of the Starbucks within. The old light up sign that tells you when a train is arriving has always been a great addition to the place and speaks to the originality of the store. This is a sad day if this location closes compared to the crappy Centre St. locale.

It doesn't make sense to close the Union Street Starbucks. Parking is terrible when visiting the location on Centre St. If Starbucks is foolish enough to close the Union Street location, I hope that an independent coffee house swoops in -- it will beonly a matter of months before Starbucks will realize they made the wrong decision. Oh well, long live The Coffee Connection!

Mr. Schultz, I’ve signed this online petition to oppose your decision to close the Starbucks on Union Street in Newton Massachusetts. My entire office visits this location daily. We enjoy several options for coffee in our area including a Dunkin Doughnuts, a Pete’s Coffee and Tea as well as an other Starbucks on Center Street. It is critical that you understand our reasons for visiting the Union Street location over other alternatives. The staff at this location has consistently provided a level of customer service unparalleled by your competitors, and even by the location on Center Street. Every single staff member has taken the time to learn our names and what we like to drink. Those facts alone exemplify service that goes “above and beyond.” Furthermore, your staff has actually taken the time to learn a bit about our business. Many times they’ve rushed to expedite our individual, simple orders (a black ice coffee for instance) because they understand that time is valuable for employees of a marketing agency. They’ve managed to do this without making other customers wait to be served. My colleagues and I will no longer be Starbucks customers after the closing of this location. If coffee is to become “just coffee,” then your brand has lost a great deal of its value in our eyes, and we’ll simply take our business to the nearest location. We urge you to reconsider this decision.

I support this petition. At a time when more people are riding the T, closing a store on top of a T station, with better seating in a charming historic building, makes no sense. If Starbucks actually wants to maintain a coffee house vibe, this site is greatly superior to the Centre St. site. If they want to be Dunkin Donuts instead, well, I'll just go to Dunkin Donuts.

I support this petition. The T station location is where I go if I am on my way to the train. The center St. location is where I go if I am coming from school or the CVS. Although the locations may seem close geographically, they aren't close parking or walking wise. If the T location is closed, I will use Peets instead on those mornings I am walking to the T. Also, I don't think the center street location can handle much more volume at key periods. It is packed already. Good luck with these tough decisions.

I enjoy the Waban Village Starbucks more than any other Starbucks location in Newton. I agree that it is a unique setting, and far more pleasant than the others, with the exception of the Union Station location, which is fun. None of the other Newton locations match the Waban setting for comfort, a living-room quality, appeal of surrounds, and a general feeling of sociability. I would miss all of this and would visit Starbucks in Newton less frequently if the Waban location were closed. Please leave it open. Thank you.

It would be a huge loss to Starbucks and Newton Center to close the train station location. This location is the embodiment of the Starbucks experience -- warm, inviting, great service, cool architecture, etc. I am sure the train station location is more expensive that the Centre Street location -- but in my estimation Starbucks hasn't figured out how much closing this location will cost Starbucks in the long run. (Pete's Coffee, however, I am sure will be very happy to get some new customers!)
