Video teacher Jeff Squires is on “administrative leave” at Santa Ynez High School. This is a petition showing support of him. From what we understand about the investigation, we do not believe Mr. Squires has done anything wrong. We hope for his quick return to the classroom so we can get back where we left off. We have nothing against the temporary (permanent?) sub, Mr. Brown. This is not his fault and we will do our best to cooperate with him. However, Mr. Squires must return in order for the video program to be restored to its former self. We will create “Free Squires posters and stickers if we have to. Just give him his classroom back.

I am a graduate of Santa Ynez High and I was in Mr.Squires Video/Film productions class. I believe that the accusations made against Squires are false, I don't believe that he would do what the admin. is accusing him of doing.He is an excellent teacher who with his sarcasm and humor made his class fun and I learned A LOT about filming. I am not sure on what exactly happened, I guess they had him stop teaching, that's a big mistake, he knows what hes doing! Save Squires!

With all respect to the administration and school officials, i have to say that it is crucial to bring Mr. Squires back to the classroom. In order to retain the dignity and respectable products of the ROP Video/Broadcasting class, bringing him back is the best option. The new teacher is a great all around person, but has little to no knowledge of the equipment and software we use. It is quite difficult when working with the equipment that had been given to us for every day use.For instance, an incident occured where i needed the assistance to fix the state it was in, i went to him for help and he said to me "I know very little about computers, i really cant help you with this problem." That computer is still in the state that it was in when i first requested his help. Once again, he is a great person, but NOT qualified to teach this class. I hope the board makes the right desicion in bringing back Jeff Squires.

Everyone will admit that Squires is a great video teacher, he actually knew what he was doing, and what he was teaching. Unlike the "teacher" we have now, who made it clear that the only thing he knows about video production is writing a useless script, what good is writing a script for us if we dont have a teacher who can show us how to turn on a video camera to film it. We need Squires back, who knows everything there is to know about video production
