Goal Progress:
We, the undersigned, people of the United States of America, and voting constituents, vehemently oppose and reject the Mexican request for extradition of Duane "Dog" Chapman, Tim Chapman, and Leland Chapman.
We, the undersigned, firmly believe that Andrew Luster was not "kidnapped" but rather "apprehended" by what we the undersigned believe, with 100% certainty to have been American Law Officials, acting on behalf of both American interests, as well as the interests of Mexican born women who were in danger as long as Luster remained there.
Also, we the undersigned believe the treatment of the Chapman family to be overly excessive, by arresting Duane, Tim, and Leland Chapman, all American citizens, thrown in an American federal jail at the request of Mexico, for extradition hearings.
We, the undersigned, believe the federal government has taken unreasonable liberties with the Chapman family's rights, all the while accepting Andrew Luster into custody, which suggested to we the undersigned that the method of apprehension was also accepted.
We, the undersigned, also fear that if the Chapman family is further detained or possibly extradited to mexico, our very own government sends a dangerous message to any potential criminal that they may find refuge in mexico.
Given that Andrew Luster was "Deported" for being in Mexico illegally, and not "Extradited" by request of the United States of America, we the undersigned believe that Duane, Tim, and Leland Chapman were correct to apprehend Luster, and thus did not harm the sovereignty of Mexico.
We, the undersigned, also believe that the Chapmans have all ready paid their debt to the Mexican government, by the reprimand of a Californian judge who denied them any part of the bounty offered for Luster's capture. While on the subject, we the undersigned do not agree with that judgment.
We, the undersigned, are angry and disgusted by the current treatment of the Chapman family, by both the Mexican and American justice systems.
We, the undersigned, do not agree that Extradition hearings should be used for misdemeanor offenses, and the possible endangerment of (3) three American Heroes.
We, the undersigned, urge the recipients of this petition to drop the Chapman Extradition Proceedings immediately, and completely! We, the undersigned, believe it to be an unnecessary and complete waste of American Tax Dollars; not to mention the unnecessary expense the Chapmans will incur.
We, the undersigned, are not fans of celebrity. We, the undersigned, are fans of (3) three American Heroes, of which deserve the utmost respect; not imprisonment. We, the undersigned, are also fans of (3) ordinary men, who possess strong moral convictions that pursued a righteous cause which ensured the safety of both American and Mexican women alike.
We, the undersigned, have provided one of the following 2 verifiable methods of information: user name and verifiable email address: first and last name with verifiable street address (house number, street name, city, state, and zip code).

Ladies and Gentleman:
The petition is now closed as the Chapman family has won their freedom in the Mexican court system. I have submitted this petition when appropriate, such as the Resolution Hearing in Hawaii. The committee took testimony from everyone that had something to contribute. Your signatures and comments were presented to the committee, and provided sound support for the family at that time. From that hearing came Resolution #50, which was then presented to the Hawaiian Judiciary committee for review and consideration.
All of the signatures on this petition were greatly appreciated.
I recently attended a Lecture in Washington DC given by Mr. Chapman, and had the opportunity to ask a question. I asked him how it felt to be a hero, and his answer was so humble: I am not a hero, our soldiers, police officers, and fire fighters are the real hero's...
I could not say it then because the line up for questions was mounting behind me, but Mr. Chapman you're mistaken, you are an absolute HERO worthy of standing beside all the others whom you deem as Hero.
Some of you may not know that our relationship with Mexico at the time of Lusters capture was in bad shape, so much so that Senator Feinstein was making constant plea's to President Bush to resolve our extradition issues with President Fox of mexico. Mr. Chapman brought to light, so that the whole of the United States could see, the problem with criminals running into the safe arms of Mexico.
Mr. Chapman may not have known the real issues he tackled when he went after Andrew Luster, but suddenly everyone was aware of Senator Feinstein's problem with Mexico, and Mexico's refusal to comply with its signed extradition treaty between itself and the United States.
Andrew Luster knew when he ran that Mexico did not recognize American Court rulings "in absentia." Which means that if the defendant was not present when the court handed down its ruling, the decision would not be upheld in Mexico. How nice is that? Prosecutors in California during that time knew that if a defendant ran to Mexico, it was a lost cause. Mexico would not return our criminals to us. During that time, Mexico also believed that if a person did murder, or even multiple murders, or murdered children that it was unfair to sentence said murder to a life term in prison. HA!
I entered into this fight with the Chapmans because I knew the value of what they did, and how it had the potential to alter the signed treaty between the United States and Mexico. Ladies and Gentleman, things have changed, and are improving! While the struggle of the entire Chapman family was a difficult one, and most certainly an expensive one, they put that degraded issue on the table for everyone to see; and we acted. We became informed, and educated about the real meaning of what was happening.
I can't thank everyone enough for taking the time to lend a hand and your signature to my petition. I wish you all the best and I believe the Chapmans were grateful for all of your support; particularly those who contributed positively to the Resolution hearing. Your voices and words of support surely meant a lot to them in their darkest of hours. Your signatures lifted their spirits, and gave them hope. You each did make a difference.
Warmest Regards,
Vicki Sandoval
