Thousands of dolphins are BRUTALLY killed every year in what are known as 'drive hunts'.
Every year in Japan, between October and April and in the last two decades, about 400,000 dolphins have been slain in the hunts. That's 18,000 every year--and the hunts show no signs of stopping. If nothing is done about this problem, Japan's coastline will again run read with dolphin blood as hunters butcher thosands more of these special creatures.

On a drive hunt, boats full of fisherman make loud noises to disorientate the dolphins and herd pods of them into shallow bays. Once they're trapped, the fisherman climb into the water and move through the dolphins, stabbing them with spears and knives until they die from blood loss or horrific injuries such as a severed spinal chord. ALTERNATIVELY THEY MIGHT SPEAR THEM WITH HOOKS IN THEIR BLOW-HOLES AND DRAG THEM TOWARDS THE SHORE WHERE THEY DIE SLOWLY, THEIR HUGE WEIGHT CRUSHING THEIR INTERNAL ORGANS.

It's a gory death and experts estimate that the dolphins take at least several minutes to die.
