On April 30th Manchester Airport will be sending 5 Men to Dunham Massey Golf course, armed with guns with the intention to kill all the birds in the rookery. The Rooks have been living in these same nests definitely for over 20 years. These birds never leave this area, the tree is always full of this family Rooks. The Airport's intention is to try and prevent bird strikes, which of course is essential but killing these rooks will not change anything, its pointless. The airport needs to address other issues i.e. eliminate rubbish at the airport to stop attracting birds and if they are to kill any it would be more effective to kill the birds near airport. Another point worth considering is they are not planning to kill the birds in Dunham Massey rookery ( across the road ) - where is the logic in that ? Basically they are just mass murdering a family of Rooks for no reason except they will get paid a days work. Please sign the petition, I have until the 30th to collect as many signatures as possible to try and save these beautiful birds.
