I support this petition. After a dip in quality, the show has rallied and, with this season, begun to show its earlier greatness. Allow it to continue its journey towards the #1 drama on television today. Bring it back for one more season. There is obviously a market for a political drama (ie Commander In Chief). Do a better job of promoting the new and improved WW and you'll find the ratings you've been looking for.

rapid fire dialogue, need to pay attention to absorb all that is said, learning about the workings of the government, perhaps seeing a new viewpoint on an issue, and sophisticated-that is this show....perhaps that is exactly why it is being cancelled-networks feel they need to dumb down all shows and appeal to the least common denominator-not all of us want to fill our tv viewing with the likes of my name is earl. this is a well acted, well thought out show-it was obvious at the start of the season you wanted to kill it with the sunday time slot--shame on NBC

I support this petition. It's the best hour on television and the best product that NBC has by far. I'm a Canadian political junkie with some back room experience and I think it does justice to the backrooms at the White House. West Wing kicks Commander in Chief's ass.

I support this petition. West Wing is one of the last good shows on television. Why did NBC give it the kiss of death by shifting it to Sunday nights to compete against football, cold case and extreme makeover? They continually change the time slots for shows, making them fail - then they wonder why it didn't work.
#156

Scott W said 02/02/06, 3:09 pm (verified)
I support this petition. One ropey season apart ( season 5 - which with"Shutdown" and "The Supremes" could still produce top quality TV drama ), and this is best TV show for decades. If NBC drop it then lets hope someone else has the sense to pick it up and run with it. This is simply TOO GOOD to be axed.

The decision to cancel The West Wing means yet another loss of quality network programming. Changing the night and time was a death knell for the show and another nail in the coffin of Prime Time. How sad to imagine what might have been with so much potential for great new drama with a new President in a new White House.

The show was making a comeback in its' quality, and then you kill it by moving it to SUNDAY? NBC was doing well with the lineup it had, so why change? Because Martha was going to have a huge hit? PLEASE! The series was destined for a new life, new characters, A NEW PRESIDENT... Why use two top-name actors for Presidential candidates if you're NOT going to bring it back? All I can hope is that if NBC continues in its' deranged wisdom to not renew this series that another network picks it up and proves you wrong. The Exec who made this decision is an embarassment to the network.

The West Wing is really the only intelligent television show that has been available to the viewing public in the last 10 years. This IS great television!! The acting is superb. The writing is fast and furious and the camera work is simply unique. I will have to just shut off the TV completely or keep it on the History Channel. NBC. What are you thinking? Can't you have television for the literate smart people?

I support this petition. Cancelling West Wing should be as unthinkable as cancelling the news, the weather or sport. It's about life. Our life. Real and imaginable. It's compelling and funny. It's about us, who we want to be and who we're sometimes ashamed to be. Rembember the post 911 episode. It said what needed to be said at a time when it was easier to be irrational. And it makes no commercial sense to cancel. The format works and can never get tired. By default, you have to change most of the cast at least once every eight years. But the programme's life should carry on, just like ours. It's not two term limited. That's the point. It really is TV, not reality TV. Think again NBC executives. Your decision will then live on long after you've left to write your books. It will be the smartest thing in life you've ever done.
