This is such a popular programme amongst Brits with more than two little grey cells to rub together. Perhaps it is just too clever for the US! LOL

An excellent exposition of inside american politics. in times when the worlds view of america is so low, utilising the power of media, through the west wing, to sshow good principles and morals to those who would cry infidels, can only be a good thing. I have bought all 6 series and i have watched them many times. This should be the benchmark for all TV drama. I live in the Uk and with ER as the only other good TV drama this would be a great loss.
I support this petition. You stated that the reason the show is being canceled is because of the loss of ratings. That could be because you all moved it to Sunday night when no one cares to watch it. Also what shows does NBC think can carry the station because the only other good ones on are Law and Order and E-ring.
I don't just support this petition...I'm begging NBC decision-makers to continue this smart, funny, insiteful program. WW is top-notch. Ending it now would leave an enormous hole in our viewing lives just as the loss of John Spencer/Leo McGarry, leaves a huge hole in our hearts. Please reconsider the cancellation and let us have West Wing to look forward to each week. It's the only show worth watching!

I support this petition. I watch 2 stations (except for Survivor), exclusively. NBC and Fox are literally my source of entertainment. I am a 26 year old woman who has watched the West Wing since it debuted. Since my other favorite shows on NBC run the risk of being canceled, I have decided to make CBS the other station I watch.
This show did not get cancelled because of poor ratings. Its demise was premeditated. They moved a show with solid ratings (maybe not top ratings but hardly bad ratings, especially given the demographics of the viewers). Who does that? They take a smart drama about politics, world events etc and put in on at family hour? I love the show but would not expect kids too. They would not be able to follow along and you could not expect them to be that interested in the topic. Nor would I want little children to be watching it. Just not appropriate for them to be worried about the crises they showed. Then they have the show on what seemed like only every other week so even the loyal would not be as likely to make sure they tuned in. And the idea that the show had 'run its course' just does not fly. The show was in the process of a reinvention. New president means new West Wing staff. What do they often do with 'new shows with promise that don't do as well as they expect'? They add new blood, new writers or switch the focus of the show. All of this could easily have been done within the flow of the show given the end of the current administration's time. Heck, John Spencer dying (a truly sad event), even gave them the opportunity to pick a new key character, the VP! They did not want this show on the air. Period. They cancelled a show that was a consistent award winning, non violent show not focused on sex. WHY? GE, that's why. GE just can't have a show that demonstrates there are other solutions to world conflicts than sending poor people's kids off to fight the 'enemy'. They could not even tolerate a show with a Republican president like Vinnick because the contrast to Bush would be problematic. The show was moved to Sunday at 8pm in order to hurt the ratings and give them an excuse to cancel it. I will watch The West Wing for the rest of the season but I am not
NBC, you need to face reality. A loyal, predictable portion of the audience should impress your stupid advertisers MUCH more than higher "numbers" that flit from show to show, and frankly, who have less disposable income. Get Sorkin back. Even let Alda win if you like---there is so much more story to tell.
One more season, just one more. If the ratings are not there, then pull it. But give it a chance to pull in new blood. Jimmy Smits rocks as president and would help pull a younger gen like a Kennedy. Alan Alda also equally as great as pres, but this show is just too good to let go. A new season, staff, and shot in the arm is all the show needs. Maybe a better time slot also.

NBC killed this show with its pathetic advertising. I sat through a week of Howie Mandell and coutless adds for Surface and Medium which nobody seemes to watch. Put WW on Wed night and for gosh sakes lets see Alda and Smits on a comercial once and a while. Alda could bring in another generation to watch and a Smits/Lowe ticket could put you in the top ten. What were you thinking. I support this petition on behalf of every NBC viewer who has a mind.
