I can't believe it! In the February issue of Horse Illustrated, Bush just passed a law that wild burros and mustangs of the US, who are either older than 10 yrs or haven’t been successfully adopted 3 times will be sent straight to slaughter for food and human products! There are already enough INNOCENT animals being killed! This means an estimated 10,000 horses/burros will be killed from this law per year. That’s not including the tame horses already being sent to slaughter by cruel people. Only about 28,000 horses/burros will be left in the wild in the US. Since its hard to tell the age of a wild horse/burro from the teeth and there’s no birth record, young horses could be sent to slaughter by mistake! A 10 yr old horse/burro is young! I know of a horse who was active, healthy etc. well into his 30s! If he is such a "horse lover" as people say, don’t you think he would have had the heart to stop this law from being passed? Don’t’ you think he could have come up with an alternative idea than just to slaughter them? Wild horses are a symbol of freedom and they have a long history here in the US and deserve to live! Please help us get our opinion heard by signing this petition and even contacting your senates or spreading the word! Then maybe we can veto this law! Thank You,
