Recent actions by the corporation of SCEE, and Sony in general, has shown that they are completely incompetent when it comes to supporting and advertising one of their most popular consoles, the Sony Playstation Portable. Whereas, support for the weaker selling Playstation 3 has been excellent, Sony have continuously overlooked the potential and selling power of the PSP and in its last action of withdrawing support; they have decided to delete the community.yourpsp.com forums along with its 1,300,000 posts, 73,000 members and 2 years of existence.

What we, members of the Yourpsp community forums and PSP enthusiasts in general, are pledging is that SCEE cease their plans to delete the largest dedicated community for the Playstation Portable and that they consistently support the Yourpsp community forums as they do with the Playstation.com forums.

The Playstation Portable is a very promising game platform, but if Sony continue to arrogantly ignore the pleas of its user base then its platform can only fail, more so then it has perceived to have done already.

Our reasons for wanting the Yourpsp.com forums to stay include:

1. We have existed and contributed to the Yourpsp.com community forums for 2 years and do not want all of our posts to be taken away from us.

2. The Yourpsp.com community is successful enough to exist by itself.

3. The Playstation Portable appeals to the "iPod generation" and other sectors that are alienated by the Playstation.com forums (and its brash PS3 image that stares in Big Brother fashion).

4. Forcing people to move to the Playstation.com forums is a diminishing of worth towards the PSP user base and simply conveys the message that they aren't cared for.

...and that's simply to name a few.

The European PSP forums have been very successful in broadening the appeal of the PSP to the various countries within the EU, but prematurely stunting its growth is insulting to the 70,000 members that originally joined under the understanding that the forums where squarely aimed at the Playstation Portable. Conversely so, this move perpetuates the ridiculous notion that the PSP is a peripheral for the PS3 and denies the device the right to exist as its own device. Yourpsp.com should stay and act as a symbol of Sony actually giving a damn about the PSP, where it able to grow it could expand to other regions and unite PSP fanatics worldwide.

Members of the Yourpsp.com forums, and PSP enthusiasts in general, your platform needs you!
