This is a petition to try and persuade UK TV channel five to buy Seasons 2 and above of the cult classic US drama Sunset Beach, which aired from beginning to end from 1997 - 1999 before it was axed in the States.

The show wasn't well received over there, although it was enormously popular here and a regular ratings winner for five (Channel 5 at the time) which was just starting out in the UK. It was so popular in fact that a huge petition was organized to try and stop it from getting the axe, but unfortunately a poor performance states side meant that it had to go.

Recently five decided to bring back Sunset Beach (due to popular demand) and it started again from the very beginning in September 2004. However the repeats were not as successful as they had hoped and so the weekday morning re-runs were removed and the show was put into a late-night slot at the weekend, where it now airs for three episodes a week.

Unfortunately five have only bought the episodes of Season 1, which means the show will end soon after the Terror Island storyline reaches it's climax.

Now we hope we can gain enough signatures through this petition to try and persuade FIVE to buy more episodes and to continue airing the show, either on the main channel or on one of their new digital channels they aim to launch next year. There are so many twists and turns to look forward to through these later seasons - the show doesn’t really heat up until the end of Season 1 and so it would be such a huge shame for the show to end now.

ALL fans of the show please sign this petition - they CAN and DO work. Back in 2000 a small Sunset Beach fansite created a petition which irked ITV2 to buy another 65 episodes of the series. Unfortunately they didn’t buy any more episodes past the first 130, so some fans have never had the chance to watch the series in it’s entirety.
