I support this petition. I'd been giving serious thought to visiting Norway in 06 or 07, but after reading of their policies concerning seals, I won't be spending my tourist dollars there or buying anything produced there. Signed, Ashamed to be Norwegian..
So sad...... In the year 2006, to feel like hunting defenseless animals, when at the same time you can have almost everything. Food, clothes, real sports to kill your leisure time. These people deserve the worst death. I curse them to suffer in their lives as much as they make the baby seals suffer.

I live in Norway and it is absolutely a shame to find out that in a "rich country" like this, authorities approve this kind of sport. This is a brutal way to think to bring tourism.
I belive that the tourists you go simply to hunt seals for kicks or trophies. do have a problem. BUT the Norwegian people have historically relied on seal meat to keep them trough the long winters. The fact you can6t farm seals means you have to kill them in the wild (hunting)would you opponants be keen on banning americans farming and killing cattle of the french eating horses. is it ok becuace these animals have been caged their whole lives. The cull is a nessecity as when the seal population goes uncontroled they desimate other animal stocks and eventualy starve or we get the seal plague as we did in the 90's. Ok it is sad when we see images of dead baby seals (ever seen veal before it gets to the supermarket shelves) but it is much more humane to shot the cub first than risking shoting the mother only and leaving the cub to starve. it not always as cut and dry as some of you may think.

if this is Norway's attempt at increasing tourism, then it can rest assured that i will NEVER visit. Consider yourselves the neanderthals that you are, whom i thought had been extinct, but apparently have made a comeback. well maybe we should regroup and clobber the norwegian/neanderthals to see how they feel - just for old times sake.

They look cute, but God put them there for us to eat. Should we kill the killer whales because they eat the seals? Or should we force them to eat other things? Nature is a habitat of carnivores as well as herbivores.
