Entertainment in the real OC! Section 9 sports have boomed in the last 7 years. Section 9 has had sports teams ranked with in the top 10 best teams in the state of New York in several sports. With in the last 7 years over 100 requests have been to begin a football team at our local community college, OCCC. OCCC wishes are to support the community and there students achieving there goals. They do feel however with limited fields and limited weights to train with that the program would be difficult to manage. That's fair to say and I do agree. Fortunately for those student athletes with goals, there is a way it will succeed. A former strength and conditioning coach for the NY Jets runs 2 fitness clubs within minutes of the college. He's passionate for the game of football and was willing to sponsor at the drop of a coin toss! Also within minutes of the community college there is an Astroturf field for the local high school ready and waiting to be played on! The community college consists of 3,000 full time students. OCCC believes with a football program that there students will practically double! With more students closer to home, the college will be making more then enough money to not only to support the football program, but to possibly begin women’s soccer, Spring Lacrosse, and cross country. More sports and academic activity will financially blast into orbit the communities businesses. More families will live in the tri-state area just to get the college experience at OCCC. The real estate market will boom and homes will be more valuable, meaning equity for homes in the area! This one simple step towards a bigger and brighter future for section 9 athletes is there for the taking. Sign our petition. Let the goals and dreams of section 9 become reality.
