"In Ohio, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, who is avowedly partisan as the Co-Chair for the Bush/Cheney campaign, has used his official powers illegally to hinder the recount process in Ohio in many ways. He has also refused to cooperate with the Democratic Party members of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee in its hearing headed by Representative Conyers. One example of many equally egregious problems in the Ohio election was a severe shortage of voting machines in precincts of people of color and students at colleges, leading to waits of up to 10 hours for voters to cast their ballot. It is very troubling when we can not be sure about our elections. This is not just a few isolated instances, but seems to be wide spread. We have to put an end to people who feel they can get away with stealing an election. I think it is time to get rid of the Electorial College.

I believe this is a historical moment in this nation's history and I am shocked that so few of us seem to care that the electoral process is so fraudulent today. Voter turnout has never been what it should, but this will surely only reaffirm the belief that "my vote doesn't mean anything anyway". Please don't let that happen. PLEASE support the belief that every vote should be counted, but only once! Help bring honesty back to democracy.

You were elected by the people to PROTECT our democracy! To certify this election, particularly in light of the countless allegations of fraud, would make a mockery of our political and judicial system. The whole world is watching us. Even school children are wondering how U.S. politics can be so corrupt. Please DO NOT CERTIFY these elections! It is your patriotic duty! Thank you.

Every voter has the right to know his or her vote counted. That did not happen in 2000 when not one Senator stood up to challenge elections in FLA. This is a critical time in World History. Because of the major role the USA has in serving as a model democracy, it is imperative we show other countries that the democratic process is working.

Senators - If the House Judiciary Committee determines, based on its investigation of voting irregularities, that there is sufficient reason to halt or delay certification of this election, then your obligation to uphold the laws of this country REQUIRES each and every one of you to stand up for democracy and demand a verifiable outcome. Let's not have a repeat of the previous election.

#20

Louise Collins said 12/21/04, 7:20 pm (verified)
I urge you to stand up for the right of all citizens of our country to vote and have their vote counted. Our predecessors fought hard to ensure the right to vote for our African-American population. Hearing the evidence that is coming forward of serious problems in heavily African-American and low income precincts in various parts of the country, it would appear that this population in particular is still being disenfranchised. This is unthinkable in a country that calls itself a democracy.

No certification can be valid w/o a hand recount in OH and FL. Just too many Americans reported problems to believe that the vote was not affected by systematic and planned fraud. We have have eyes and ears and to not believe them is to deny reality, despite what the corporate-owned and right-winged biased mainstream media report.
