This is the second election of George W. Bush where there have been highly questionable voting rights issue.
We are a beacon for the rest of the world when it comes to voting....don't let that light go out on us.
Please help investigate the many irregularities and fraud of the recent presidential election and help to preserve the principle of one person one vote and that of counting every vote.
"In Ohio, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, who is avowedly partisan as the Co-Chair for the Bush/Cheney campaign, has used his official powers illegally to hinder the recount process in Ohio in many ways. He has also refused to cooperate with the Democratic Party members of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee in its hearing headed by Representative Conyers. One example of many equally egregious problems in the Ohio election was a severe shortage of voting machines in precincts of people of color and students at colleges, leading to waits of up to 10 hours for voters to cast their ballot. "
It is very troubling when we can not be sure about our elections. This is not just a few isolated instances, but seems to be wide spread. We have to put an end to people who feel they can get away with stealing an election. I think it is time to get rid of the Electorial College.
I believe this is a historical moment in this nation's history and I am shocked that so few of us seem to care that the electoral process is so fraudulent today. Voter turnout has never been what it should, but this will surely only reaffirm the belief that "my vote doesn't mean anything anyway". Please don't let that happen. PLEASE support the belief that every vote should be counted, but only once! Help bring honesty back to democracy.
Please do not allow malevolent, fraudulent and other questionable acts taint, even twist, this and any Elections. Please withhold certification until truth and accuracy are discerned via all appropriate investigations for Election 2004; "do the right thing"for
true Democracy! Thank you. Marina del Rey, CA.
Not certifying the election should allow time to investigate allegations of fraud and irregularities. Whether the election was honest is important. This should be pursued regardless of the probability that the result may change.
Please take action to deal with the mistrust in our electoral process and and review the evidence of a variety of problems and improprieties. This is crucial to the faith in our democratic process.
I'm an Ohio recount observer. If this election is certified then I will KNOW that this country is no longer a Democracy. The fault will then lie with EVERY person who had the power to stop this from occuring.
You were elected by the people to PROTECT our democracy! To certify this election, particularly in light of the countless allegations of
fraud, would make a mockery of our political and judicial system.
The whole world is watching us. Even school children are wondering how U.S. politics can be so corrupt.
Please DO NOT CERTIFY these elections! It is your patriotic duty!
Thank you.
Every voter has the right to know his or her vote counted. That did not happen in 2000 when not one Senator stood up to challenge elections in FLA. This is a critical time in World History. Because of the major role the USA has in serving as a model democracy, it is imperative we show other countries that the democratic process is working.
I am called Gullible Gail, but not so gullible to believe that with software to manipulate the machines and leave no trace, that it wasn't used on machines progammed with "hackable" programs.
Senators - If the House Judiciary Committee determines, based on its investigation of voting irregularities, that there is sufficient reason to halt or delay certification of this election, then your obligation to uphold the laws of this country REQUIRES each and every one of you to stand up for democracy and demand a verifiable outcome. Let's not have a repeat of the previous election.
I personnally witnessed fraud at polls in Tolleson, Arizona and recount in Clermont, Ohio. Votes are being certified in Ohio prior to completion. County BOE are selctiong there own 3%sample hand count and refusing to provide full recount although criteria is met. The keys to the ballot boxes are not secure.
As Americans we should be able to rely on the voting process in this country...I urge you not to certify this election until voting issues are resolved.
Please DO NOT verify the election until we can be certain that all votes have been counted and voter irregularities have been checked out. I live in Ohio and I have WITNESSED voter irregularities!!!
I am requesting that this election not be certified based on allegations of widespread fraud and the systematic dissenfranchisement of large seqments of the democratic population in the State of Ohio. I personally witnessed this on November 2, 2004.
Our ability to bring democracy to places like Iraq and Afghanistan, and to lead in the world is aided by our ability to ensure democracy's existance here at home.
A true investigation would tell us if a revote is necessary. Objection to the electors will probably lead to an investiagation. Our democracy is at stake! Please do the right thing!
If no Democratic Senator stands with the Congressional Black Caucus yet again in 2004, no representative of the Democratic Party - other than the members of the Caucus - will ever have my support again.
If you fail to stand up for voting rights in 2004, it is the end of our democracy. The voter intimidation and voter suppression as well as probably computer fraud calls into question this election and all others to follow.
I urge you to stand up for the right of all citizens of our country to vote and have their vote counted. Our predecessors fought hard to ensure the right to vote for our African-American population. Hearing the evidence that is coming forward of serious problems in heavily African-American and low income precincts in various parts of the country, it would appear that this population in particular is still being disenfranchised. This is unthinkable in a country that calls itself a democracy.
I was shocked that not one US Senator was will to stand with the Congressional Black Caucus to fught the certification of the Presidential Vote. PLEASE don't let this happen again!
No certification can be valid w/o a hand recount in OH and FL. Just too many Americans reported problems to believe that the vote was not affected by systematic and planned fraud. We have have eyes and ears and to not believe them is to deny reality, despite what the corporate-owned and right-winged biased mainstream media report.
