In the interest of absolute certainty, and to end the years of speculation about the 2000 presidential election, I feel a complete and thorough recount is needed.
Dear Senators Boxer, Byrd, Dayton, Harkin, Jeffords, Kennedy, Leahy, Levin, Lieberman, Mikulski, Obama, Snow and Schumer:
As a native of Trumbull County, Ohio and a graduate of Ohio State University, I am deeply concerned over the allegations of widespread voter intimidation and vote suppression in the 2004 election in Ohio. I respectfully request that you challenge the validity of the electors from Ohio. I also would like to request that you urge both the Federal and State law enforcement authorities in Ohio to fully investigate any reports of voter intimidation through the use of phone calls and/or illegal flyers which were allegedly used to confuse and intimidate the citizens of Ohio.
I also request that you support efforts to reform both the national and state election process in order to eliminate those methods, which do not provide a clear paper trail of votes recorded. Numerous concerns have been raised about the lack of security and accountability in the electronic voting machines used in our elections such as the ones manufactured by Diebold, Inc. The source code used on these machines needs to be examined by independent auditors in order to insure that the results cannot and were not tampered with. Guaranteeing the integrity of our election process, in my opinion, out weighs the right of any private company to hold as proprietary information any part of the process, which counts our votes.
I believe that as Americans we need to be certain that our election process is as free, fair, and transparent as we can possibly make it.
Any thing less is simply unacceptable.
Sincerely,
David G. Wilson
Dear Senators: Because of the attempts to obstruct the investigative process into the irregularities in the Ohio election process, I request that as Americans who care about the birthplace of modern Democracy you must protest the election results until a resolution that edifies the process of Democracy, is found. It is unacceptable to do nothing. After the 2000 election, and the questions surrounding it, the possibility of a repeat performanceshould be taken away by disallowing any electoral college votes of the contested states. Circumstantial evidence and the appearance of impropriety cannot be tolerated again. The integrity of the institution of Democracy is at stake, worldwide. The world is waiting.
As a new citizen and first time voter,I believe in a great America, one that stands atrong for its' people and their rights. One of those rights is the abilty to vote knowing we have an honest way to do so.A way we can trust. The trust is gone,we need it back!
Please pay attention to this plea for the election fraud to be rectified, Where are we going in this country that's suppose to be the greatest in the world? We are losing our worth all because dishonesty reigns supreme. How can any of you allow this to happen when we know the election has been rigged? THIS COUNTRY DESERVEDS BETTER! WE DESERVE BETTER! Stand up for what's right, if you don't where will we be 10, 20 years from now?
Please join Rep. John Conyers on Jan. 6, 2005 in rejecting the electorate vote for George W. Bush. Protect our constitutional right to free and fair elections. Our very Democracy is at stake.
Our beloved experiment with democracy has become government of, for and by mega, for-profit corporate interests. Turn it around. Do what you know is right.
Based on a lot of strange patterns in term of voting this past November, I ask that you not certify the presidential election in 2004 until more has been resolved or the until the process has been exhausted. For God Sakes.
The evidence of electoral fraud is now massive and undeniable. Once again, our democracy has been stolen.
It is unconscionable that any senator or representative should sit silently while democracy in America becomes a matter of history.
If you love your country, you MUST SPEAK UP and reject the fraudulent electoral delegates.
Please don't let what happened in 2000 happen again in 2004! We, who claim to be the democratic model for the world, MUST have free, fair, and honest elections! There are too many unanswered questions about the 2004 election to let this go unchallenged. Please vote against certifiying the election results.
It is incredible that the country that considers itself to be the world's leading democracy would permit an electoral process that raises so many questions to be perpertuated without seeking effective corrective measures IMMEDIATELY! Please take leadership in this effort!
We need all of you to stand up and fight against the voting fraud that occurred during the 2004 election. We all know that the 2000 presidential election was stolen and the wrong person was sworn into office. We cannot let this happen again. We have a situation now in Ohio in which the chief justice of the state Supreme Court refused Wednesday to remove himself from a case challenging the results of the presidential election. He has a definite conflict of interest with this case. The stonewalling and lies continue in that state by head election officials, as partisan politics, not justice and fairness, are more important. We cannot let this stand!!!! This election must be contested and our right to vote in fair and honest elections restored!!!!!
PLEASE, Please, vote against the certifying of this stolen election. I am terrified about what Bush and Cheney and their cohorts are doing to our country and our constitution and bill of rights! PLEASE!!!
Thank you very much.
Elena Rufino
Please do not allow our 2004 Election to be a repeat of our 2000 Election! Will someone please have the courage to do the right thing by protesting the electoral certification?
The faith in our democratic system is being questioned. I implore you to refuse certification until all the questions pertaining to fraud with the electronic voting machines are addressed. You are the voting public's only hope that "every vote counts."
I am truly concerned about the integrity of the 2004 presidential election and the future of elections in our nation. Please, I urge you to not certify the vote this January 6.
Don't get fooled again. Democrats stood by when the 2000 election was stolen. In 2004, Republican dirty tricks and election theft tactics were far more sophisticated and widespread. Stand up to tyranny and restore democracy now!
As a citizen born in the USA I'm deeply troubled by the turn this country continues to make toward a Corporate Theocracy, where the Republican Party can blatantly manipulate the elections in every conceiable way and no one protests. Well I am protesting and I will not go away. Do the Right Thing!
Please do not certify this election. There were far too many irregularities. Why would an Ohio polling place that was going to have a recount allow the computer company access pre-recount? They said they "had to adjust the computers before recount". Uh, well ,yeah, if you want to fix an election that would make sense. Get some gumption and prove to us that there is a democracy because at this point no one can tell anymore!
Disgruntled Citizen,
I am truly afraid. Intelligence, Common Sense, and Respect have lost to Money, Power, and Blind Faith.
Senator, contesting this election may be too little, too late - but please look to consider our nation's current voting standards. These need to be examined before the next major election - the United States needs to develop a uniform, infallible, unquestionable voting system across all 50 states. We need to LEARN from our mistakes.
Please Senators someone stand up for the democracy of this country do not certify the election. We need to recount now. Please help us win back an honest and fair election.
The election will not be over until these possibilities of fraud are investigated by an independent body. The senate must push for a full investigation. At least 50% of the country would support this. If the Ukrainians can do it, so can we...
Dear U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd,
Having read your book, "Losing America, Confronting A Reckless And Arrogant Presidency",
I believe, you will honestly give this petition every consideration!
35 million or so votes were counted invisibly in the computers, with no recountable voter-marked ballots. The exit polls had Kerry winning nationally 50.8% and winning 10 of the 11 battleground states. In Ohio the election contest specifically contends the votes shifted to denied Kerry his legitimate victory in Ohio. Please join Conyers and other House members in investigating and giving the Ohio case another 14 days' time to proceed.
There is a lawsuit in Ohio, Moss v. Bush, claiming sufficient evidence to show that Kerry is the legitimate winner of Ohio. It would be disingenuous to certify the votes under this circumstance, and it would be a very dangerous precedent.
I am from Fraudula, I mean, Florida and I KNOW my senators will do nothing. I am PRAYING that the only African American Senator Mr, Obamba, will show the courage his white counterparts wouldn't in 2000 - when my vote too was disregarded as it was this year.
I voted absentee and was then informed by CNN that absentee ballots for Florida were not counted before the electorial college votes.
What democracy?
Whe haven't had one in for decades in FL
