Dear Democrats,
If you want to be a permanent minority party, and you want a one-party state in the US, please ignore this petition.
But if you are committed to Democracy, the rule of law and the constitution, please do not certify the results of the election.
And to Mr. Shumer: I know your type. I want to thank you for your good work in preventing extremist judicial nominees, and you have clearly held the line in many ways against the republican onslaught; but why do you marginalize and insult those of us who are concerned that our Democracy is slipping away? Is privatizing our elections really the wise way to go? Please think again before bleating public relations mantras about conspiracists.
How sad that the Ukraine is kicking our collective ass in Democracy.
Please do the right thing and be profiles in courage.

I live abroad, and I want my 18-year-old son, who voted this year for the first time, to regain faith in the American political system, and to be able to feel proud of the American half of his heritage.
I don't want his "first" time voting to also, because of disillusionment, be his last. I also want the world to see that the majority of U.S. citizens still possess a sense of integrity, ethics, morality, democratic decency and courage, and are not the pompous hypocrites they appear to be now.
Please protect the rights of EVERY American citizen by refusing to certify this fraudulent election. As a voter from the state of Washington I can attest to the value of a paper trail and a manual recount. The entire outcome of our governorship rested on the determination and financial backing of questioning voters who paid for a hand recount.
Something needs to be done about the voting process. It's hard enough to get people to vote. Assurance that the system isn't tainted would be a good thing!
We the People are the government, but We the People are being removed from the process by big $ and corruption. It must stop now! I think it was well said by petition signer #1387 Matthew Christian. The time to ACT is NOW!

This petition is the best articulation I've seen yet. I'm a 20 year Navy Reserves retiree and 10%disabled veteran, father of three (oldest with asbergers), husband, homeowner, legal secretary from a prominent law firm in NY City, patriot, Kerry volunteer, voter, citizen and American. We simply cannot validate the electoral delegates from Ohio since there is so much verifiable election day fraud, and it goes against the founding fathers intentions for our dear country, the United States of America. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt must be counting on you now. Please, dear Senators, I am too.

We are having a near-death experience. The near-death of our American Democratic Republic. This is a Jeffersonian moment in our nation's timeline - a pivotal moment at which what we do - or do not do - about this critical matter of flagrant vote fraud in America's elections, will have powerful, far-reaching effects into the future for America, this planet and humanity.
Our Founding Fathers did not craft a landmark Constitution, Bill of Rights, and an inspired vision for this great nation just to amount to this!
We have not sent our loved ones off to war to be killed and maimed, for 228 years, just to amount to this!
It is far better to gather up the vote-stealing machines that make a mockery of the democratic process and the American people, to load them on a barge, take them out to sea and sink them, than to sacrifice our rightful American democratic heritage for this.
However diseased it is become, the American Democratic Republic is redeemable, if only you will stand together in greatness, in this moment, and pledge your sacred honor to heal this great nation and repair this great wrong.

No matter what the result it is important that Congress do it's best to have every possible vote counted correctly. Enough doubt has been found to demand verification or recounts in swing states.
This is about preserving our precious democracy and thus much larger than partisanship. Please investigate the irregularities of 2004 first. Then you and "the people" will know whether the electoral votes merit certification. In addition, please demand a paper trail and open source software for all electronic voting machines. We must restore faith in the electoral process by fixing the problems rather than pretending they don't exist. The latter will only undermine and ultimately threaten our democracy. This is the second dubious Presidential election. How many do there have to be before real action is taken to ensure that our elections are legitimate?
Please help us take back our election process. It appears to be a tainted election. Help us to know one way or another. We elected you as our representatives. Please listen to the voice of the people.
The true democratic ideal of America will not yet be realized until our election process is reformed and the American people are assured that each and every one of their votes will be counted! Now is the time to make sure that we do the right thing and reform a broken and corrupted system.
Let's have a real full-fledged recount in Ohio (& Florida for that matter).
What passed as a "recount" in Ohio was not a randomly-based selection of 3% of the total vote in each county but rather was a pre-planned selection of that 3% in advance. No meaningfuly recount took place in Ohio.
Recounts must be done in both Ohio & Florida.

Please turn in the direction of searching for and supporting authentic justice and democracy. Too much has been said and done in the NAME of such, but not in true SPIRIT.
Withhold your vote to certify the election until a full investigation has been made. Support Congressman Conyer's investigation request. Or then why should we ever vote again?
