Wake up! Democracy is at stake! As our elected representatives, REPRESENT US! That's your job, that's why we elected you. We need your help. Protect us!
The last two presidential elections have been a violation of equal rights - the right to have one's vote counted. Show some backbone in support of a basic American principle.
George Bush stole the election in 2000with the help of his friends in the Supreme Court and the Democrats in the Senate. The results have been disastrous for the nation.
Now Bush is poised to steal another one. Don't let 2005 be the year democracy died in the US without a whimper--stand up and challenge this travesty of an election. Next time will be too late.
This is a chance to fix our democracy, and if it isn't fixed the democratic party will be further destroyed. If you won't do what is good for the country, at least do what is best for your party and yourselves.
Please stand up for a transparent voting apparatus and vote not to certify the electoral college vote on January 6. The vote in Ohio on November 2 was a travesty, and Blackwell's continued attempt to cover up egregious errors and possible fraud demands your attention. It is incumbent on all of you, regardless of party, to shed light on such a fundamental issue for democracy. Every vote must count, and every citizen must be accorded an equal opportunity to vote.
I have lost all confidence in voting in America. We question exit polls vs results in Ukraine but not here? This is a disgrace--this election was a fraud. The fact that Bush's state supporters are also the heads of elections in Ohio in 2004 and Florida 2000 is a mockery. Members of Congress should be ashamed for allowing this to happen with no questions asked! Our country is more important than your career.
Please, just go on record against what I see as an unfolding, constant abuse of our election system as long as Republicans own the machines people vote on and there is no way to check. I don't trust them for a second. We need election reform.
Senator Mikulski, I am one of your constituents. I request that you stand firm in representing democracy. Two stolen elections in a row is unconcionable. Please stand with those in the House who will object to the certification of this election.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
Margaret Mead
cooperation with the disenfranchisement of voters, regardless of outcome, is a violation of the social contract between citizen and elected representative.
Without definitive action from both houses of Congress, election fraud will be allowed to occur unchanllenged in this country. We saw fraud in 2000 and Congress did not act. We saw it in 2004 and without your intervention we will see it again in 2006. Our electoral system needs reform -- now. Please join your colleagues in the House and contest the election results.

Dear Senators,
I'm a mother of three, the oldest with Fragile X, and I worry about my children's future. I worry about the way the world is going to be when they grow up. I want my children to grow up in a democracy. I want their votes to count.
Everyone's vote has a right to be counted.
The great dreams of the founding fathers and leadership and their fascination as to what the potential of America could be, is at stake. How would that potential play out?
How can we be promoting democracies in other countries when ours is going down the drain? Why are we not allowing international election monitoring when we are often monitors verifying election legitimacy in other countries? It is hypocritical to be promoting democracies in other countries when ours may well be pretty much going down the drain.
Sincerely,
Lisa Haven

Please help defend and protect our democracy. If our goal is to spread democracy around the world, we must start at home and make sure that election fraud cannot be rewarded with an election.
Thank you for taking a stand for the people.
We elected you into office to defend and protect our democracy- of the people, by the people, and for the people. No voter should have their vote 'spoiled' or thrown away, especially if they have a different color skin. The investigations must continue, Ken Blackwell must testify and a full hand recount must be done in Ohio. Please don't certify this election.
I am very concerned that our electoral system is no longer viable and is subject to a type of tampering and/or fraud over which we have no control or overisight. How can we know if the last election (not to mentioin the previoius one) was legitimate? Even if it was, which I seriously doubt, Bush was not elected by a huge majority. This country remains seriously divided. We should, I believe, do everything in our power to restore the credibility of our government. Opposing the certification of the presidential election would allow us to seriously examine what happened. Thank you, Sheila Garrett
Please do not certify this election until the claims of election fraud have been answered. We knew there was fraud in 2000 and were told to "just move on, let go" and that got us nowhere. At any cost, we must preserve our democracy.
It's imperative that we FIX our election mechanism. Gross irregularities WILL NOT STOP until we show we're serious. Please REFUSE to accept less than equal opportunities for all voters, and all votes counted.
Dear Senators,
We are asking you to please join the House Black Caucus in challenging this presidential election on January 6th. We are from Ohio and believe that this election was once again stolen from the American people. We don't know who else to turn to...both of our senators are with the Republican party and will stand steadfast with the others in the senate to make sure that the Republican agenda is pushed down our throats. You, Senators, know better than most how President George W. Bush operates...how Karl Rove has masterminded this entire election process...how bleak things look for us the next four years under the current leadership. We beseech you to help those Americans who truly believe that these election results are fraudulent. And we need someone such as yourself to give us a voice in our government...to not allow once again the theft of the Presidential office that occurred in 2000.
Sincerely, Timothy and Anna Deitz

Dear Senators,
Please consider this action. Look into your hearts and see how your constituents are being disregaurded. Please help us save our democracy and all the American values we hold dear.
Please stand up for fair, verifiable and non-discriminatory elections now and in the future by challenging the Ohio and Florida Electoral College votes on January 6! We cannot continue to sweep our electoral problems under the carpet and have the vibrant, participatory democracy to which we aspire. Your action would transcend partisan politics and exemplify true statesmanship.
Battles such as this are what you are in office to attend to. A decision to avoid addressing this problem is a disservice to your constituents, your countryment and you post. Please Do Not Let your country, OUR country, down. Prove you serve a purpose.
With the amount of questionable election activity in Ohio, certifying the results now would send a message to those who would commit election fraud that they can get away with it, because it is deemed more important to have a result on time than an accurate one.
I respectfully request that on Jan. 6 you object to the electoral votes from Florida, New Mexico, and Ohio as not lawfully certified! There are lawsuits and investigations ongoing and, most of all, The People are skeptical regarding the electronic ballot counting processes (and, in Ohio, the recounting) as well as voter suppression during the election. The discrepancies between the *original* exit polls and the declared totals (marked by late-hour inexplicable swings) are statistically highly improbable. Americans, both Democrats and Republicans, will resonate with and applaud those representatives who stand for the principles of our founding fathers and against the repeated precedent toward our future and struggling democracies worldwide of flawed election procedures.
The US needs to send a message to the world that we do care about preserving our democracy, that we will pursue any voting injustices and fraud. The world is looking at us!
While the story has been underreported, the evidence suggesting voting irregularities and possible vote fraud (in the recount!) is overwhelming. A real investigation needs to be conducted. Please, support your House colleagues in challenging the election results. Don't allow vote fraud to become official policy.
This election was stolen from Mr. Kerry and his supporters in a variety of ways by the republican party. Please save our electoral process and democracy!
I am saddened and outraged. Please do what we cannot do for ourselves anymore! recount the vote, investigate, and rally to take action against this crazy country GW bush and company are molding. I don't trust my representatives, leaders, or president anymore, and to meddle with our democratic process you are creating a new america in which many of us do not want to live. Yet we love our country, and our democratic process. Please make our voices heard, we love america....but it isn't the same america anymore!
