Sesame has an androgenous elephant named Stevie and my children are confused and asking questions about whether he/she is a boy or girl. It has a man's voice but dresses up as ballerinal and princesses. However it mostly plays with male characters. In addition in a recent episode they had Cookie Monster dressed as Cinderella and Elmo was dressed as Rapunzel. The target audience for Sesame Street are small asexual children. Regardless if you are pro or anti gay/lesbian this is not an issue that four year olds need to be addressing.

This show seem to have minipulated your mind into questioning your own sexuality then the kids. The kids are asking 'is he a boy or a girl' which is just innocent naivety whilst you are asking 'Ishe gay?' thus rendering you the only one 'in harm'. The fact a favourite character is camp does not make him gay, and if your kids can't even perceive that, I wouldn't worry. Not have gay characers in shows is politically incorrect anyway.
