It is outrageous to say the least that these men should be imprisoned for defending their land and their health. Shame on the Irish government for not supporting their own people. Bertie, you have sold them out.
This really shows in who's interest the state rules. Ordinary people are jailed by this supposed democracy to defend the interests of a super rich multinational corporation. The same government handed Shell a natural resourse rightly owned by the Irish people on a plate. This resourse was worth billions to the irish people. At a time when we have a health service in crises and ordinary people are subjected to stealth taxes left right and centre, multi national corporations can do as they please without fear of interferance. Not only do they rob us, but they do so with the assistance of our " government" .

rossport erris and carratadhg are places very special to me and it disgusts me to see what is being done to them, fair bloody play to the rossport 5, these aren't young men but are all the same lookin to do something about this problem regardless of the consiquences, Micheál Ó Seighin, Willie Corduff, Brendan Philibin, Vincent McGrath and Philip McGrath, my sympathies go out to the families, and to all irish people as we are forced to live in a country that punishes the brave and the just and lets real criminals walk from court.
I think the jailing of these men was outrageus and they sould be freed right away, jails are for real criminals not for decent people who are trying to protect their families!!
I support the Rossport 5 and agree totally with their actions and the reasons behind same actions. It is grossly unfair that these men are away from their home and families as a result of this when it is clear that Shell have themselve flouted the Law. The Law surely is an " ass" .
I am appalled that the health and safety of Irish people is at risk. Surely it is possible to refine gas at sea rather than pollute the air that we breathe on land.

Thats it im definitely supporting sinn fein in next election. They are the only party doing anything as far a i can see. Bruton called to my door in clontarf last week. Asked him what his position is on Rossport 5. He feels its a "tricky situation" and "not much can be done". That says it all.

It is absolutely disgraceful how Shell, a global multinational company, is bullying and intimidating the local community in Rossport and getting away with it by a weakkneed government.
I think it is appalling that these five courageous men are languishing in jail while the government and minister dempsey in particular just washes its hands of the situation
We cannot allow multinational companies especially those who have no respect for us or the environment we live in dictate to the people of our country. This government is a JOKE, and obviously does not realise that it answers to the people of Ireland and not Corporate Boardrooms

Boycott Shell and Statoil in support of the Rossport 5. Boycotting worked against Lord Eyrne in hte 1870's. Ther is no reason it can't be equally successful now.
