Shell have a horrific human rights record in other countries.the people of rossport are extremely brave in their campaign,and the Government of Ireland should hang their heads in shame for their treatment of these people.

In the Irish Newspaper called "The Irish Mail on Sunday"November 12th.2006.page 6,and page 10.and also page 10 and 11.in The Daily Mail,Nov.11th.2006.there are multiple pictures which show the Irish Police force attacking,and breaking the front windscreen of a stationary van,while a woman ,who is the principal teacher in a local school,was sitting in the drivers seat.The woman protestor, Maura Harrington was then pulled from the van by these vicious Gardai.Many other protestors were injured by these Irish Police,who had batton charged them on that same occassion.I submit that this is a draconian,and classical example of a dictorial Irish government resorting to violent means to break up a peaceful demonastration by Irish people who believe that while in their callous pursuit of money,both Shell and the Irish Government are placing them in an unessary,and great danger.There are no civil,constitutional,nati onal and international rights afforded to any Irish citizens who wish to exercise their basic human right to express their opinion,and to take part in a peaceful protest at Rossport County Mayo. in Ireland.
As a Englishman living in ireland the best country in the world, I support this protest totally. We must stop these corporate men from destroying our country and polluting the enviroment. If they win just think Kerry my home county and the rest of Ireland could be next, we need a socialist revolution now!

Where are our morals? do we value jobs over human lives and basic human rights? If we as citizens cherish our country and all that is good in this world, we should all stand up against underhand bully boy type tactics on the part of Shell,the state and its law enforcers. The time to act is now!

Why should a foreign corporation be allowed remove our countries limited national resources? Apart from the fact that we will not receive a cent as remuneration for this travesty, we have to foot the overtime bill so another limited resource can facilitate this, namely the Gardai. It is a sad reflection on the politicians who run this country that they will chose the interests of a foreign corporation with a track record of leeching the resources of countries with complicit governments over the people that elect them
If this petition is for more Gardai to crack more heads in more baton charges then I'm behind it all the way. because i think it's time the government and large corporations should start taking responsibility for the enviroment, and repair some of the damage we have already caused, not contribute to it. there are more important issues to address.

I have not bought petrol at a Shell or Statoil garage since the jailing of the Ros Dumhach 5 and I never will. Boycott them!

Yet again the interests of big business override the rights of citizens to fresh air and clean drinking water. Shame on the government of Ireland for their collusion or worse.....
Irelands natural resources, including its land, need to be safegaurded for our future, and not 'given away' to a global company only interested in $$$ until the well is dry... then, Shell will be outta there before you can say enviromental mess.
