It's the people who gave away the rights to this valuable natural resource and gave away the constitutional right of Irish men and women to be kept safe by the state who are the ones that should be locked up. More I learn of the murky incident, the more it sickens me
This is an outrage. Irish men and women have fought for centuries to secure the right to tenure, only to be betrayed in this age by corrupt, greedy politicians who 'fumble in a greasy till' so to grow old with hoards of $$$. For what? Mo náire sibh, you will be judged.
"Their shame is my shame, and I have reddened for it...Reddened for that they have walked in fear of lawyers and jailers, with their writs of summons and their handcuffs. Men mean and cruel. I could have borne stripes on my body rather than this shame of my people." Go to hell shell Free the Rossport Five NOW!
This travesty is a perfect example of a money driven government powered by corruption trampling the rights and liberty of the very people from whom their power comes. This government does not listen to the people. This government does not respect life. This government cares only for the Euros which line it's pockets and fund it's golf trips. FF and the PDs will NEVER get my vote.
It's a disgrace that 5 innocent men trying to protect their families and homes should be jailed and criminalised. Meanwhile the Irish government signs away our natural resources to multi-national companies.
THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN N.Y.C. !IRELAND, IN MY OPINION, IS JUST ABOUT THE MOST BEAUTIFIL COUNTRY ON EARTH...
THERE ARE VERY FEW PLACES THAT FALL IN THE CATEGORY.
CAN WE PLEASE KEEP IT THAT WAY ???!!!
Greeting and solidarity to the Rossport 5 from the Joe McCrickard Sinn Féin Cumann here in Newcastle, County Down. We support their stand against the greed and might of a multi-national company. Their continued imprisonment is an indictment of the right wing FF/PD led Government. Free them now!
It is outrgeous that the Dublin government has, through the corruption of Ray Burke, given away our valuable national resources to the multinational corportions, with no return to the people of Ireland.
"We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland, and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people." 1916 Proclamation.
Scaoil saor iad.
We support you in your mission statement.
It is a sad reflection on our society that communities should have to resort to these means to protect themselves not alone from the onslaught of multinationals but also from their own Government who are meant to have their peoples interests at heart.Communities are the stakeholders in such developments. It is they that will have to live with the consequences and until there is full and meaningful consultation and honest information , there will never be compliance Public trust, whether it is placed in
the regulators, in compliance with the regulations or in the information provided, will be
fundamental in achieving even a modicum of consensus for any future developments in Ireland. Our Government need to take this on board.
A tribunal of enquiry should be set up immediately to uncover the almost certain corrupt deal that the corrupt and discredited Ray Burke gave to Shell's predecessor (Enterprise Oil). This would allow the licence terms to be renegociated in Irelands favour. Send Shell to Sea and free the Rossport 5.
