I know this is a petition to shut Tom up, but contributing an extra signature to this list just so I can say this is worth it: if you go cold turkey on a psychiatric drug you have been taking, even for a short time, you will go through withdrawal, which can bring along with it psychosis, mania, suicidal ideation and all kinds of other nasty stuff, the very thing psychiatrists/psychologis ts are trying to cure. That's why before you quit taking that stuff you're supposed to see your doctor. Dumbass Mary Woods obviously didn't realize that, nor did her parents, nor did she include this information in her comments page. Now this is well-known and well-documented, not to mention proven FACT.

At the age of 17 I was diagnosed schizoaffective. My parent's like Mr. Cruise thought that no medication was needed and removed me from a psychiatric hospital assured that the doctors just wanted to fill there wallets with my prescription money. Three months later I had been rushed to the hospital 5 times for suicide attempts and 8 months out of the hospital and off the drugs I attempted to kill my family by opening the vale on the back of the gas oven during the middle of the night and shutting all the door and windows in the house. Had my father not woken up shortly afterwards I might have killed my entire family in just one psychotic episode. And I personal dare Mr. Cruise to meet with my mother now 2 years later and tell her that the daughter, who tried to kill her and was literally a self destructing time bomb off of medication, could have become the successful happy person I am today by taking my VITAMINS!!!!!

Tom, I used to be one of your biggest fans, but now I realize that you are ignorant and uneducated. I developed a very serious clinical post-partum depression after the birth of my son 14 years ago. I'll tell ya pal, vitamins WOULD NOT have been the ticket out of that hell. Without the help of antidepressants I truly believe I would not be here right now to raise my wonderful son. Medications may not always totally solve a problem but they can get you on an even playing field so you can do things to help that medication. Cruise mentioned excercise. Tom Cruise is clearly a ranting maniac. He told Matt Lauer that there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance. (But notice he so readily accepts the idea that dyslexia exists, because it would make him not stupid) He also claims that there is no blood level to check to see how much medicine is enough. Well, as with a lot of medication, the dose is usually titrated to effect. There is no blood level for blood pressure medicines either-they are titrated according to patient response. The only medications that there are blood levels for are certain antibiotics and anti-seizure medications. I personally think that the reason he has such negative things to say about the field of psychiatry is that in the past (and probably still today) he was told by more than one psychiatrist that he suffers from bipolar disorder and refuses to believe it. He clearly could benefit from some Lithium. Maybe his recent change in behavior is the result of having gone off some of his previous meds-this would also explain the fertility/gay issues constantly haunting him as impotence is a common side effect of several of the psychiatric meds!
Most physicians and health care professionals are hoping that TC's recent outbursts toward Brooke Shields and the use of anti-psych meds does not cause the impressionable out there to not seek medical help. Everyone needs to remember that for a lot of people, medication is a necessary part of their life and enables people to live fuller, more productive lives. TC has no idea what he is talking about. What are his credentials? High-school drop-out, played (badly, I might add) a doctor in the Oscar-worthy "Eyes Wide Shut", father of 2 adopted kids (therefore no post-partum depression to deal with) and lunatic Scientologist?
