I support this petition. The cancellation of Simply Quilts by HGTV could prove to be the most catastrophic error in judgement made by the network. The number of quilters and the quilting industry are growing larger every day. If you think this is a long ago, old time, dead in the woods art just ask AQS how many quilts were donated by people all across the country to be given to the hurricane victims. Whoever has made this decision to drop the show from your line-up needs to get their head out of the sand. You have several timeslots for all other types of craft shows, gardening, landscaping and whatever, so why would you drop a program that is supported by such a significant number of viewers? The quilting industry holds TWO major markets each year for shop owners because there are continually so many new items, ideas and fabrics to showcase. 'Shop Hops' are springing up all over the country to help get new ideas, information and products to the consumers. Quilting Guilds continue to grow in size and numbers. Quilting provides women and men with a creative outlet that can be found in no other craft. Even those who work and can't view the program when it is telecast tape Alex's shows to watch them at a more convenient time for them. Should you decide to remove Simply Quilts from your schedule I will have no other reason to continue watching HGTV. This is the only show I watch on your station. And I will be most happy to relay this fact to my satellite provider.

I think HGTV underestimates the number of viewers for Simply Quilts. There is a rapidly growing fiber art business in the United States and Simply Quilts is one of the main television shows to support the art. It's the only one I watch.
