Ska music is the sound of the people. It's hot at the lawns as they used to say in Jamaica, it's birthplace, and it has spread the world around.

From the 60's island birthplace to the late 70's UK resurgence, to the 80's and beyond it is a thriving musical beat.

Indie 103.1 based in Los Angeles, California, United States needs a new radio show.

Here are just a few notes on why they should devote even a small amount of time to this musical treat.

Jonesy' Jukebox, hosted by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols regularly played hits by foundation artists such as Dave Barker & Ansel Collins, The Upsetters and The Specials.

Hell-Cat Records, based in Los Angeles has released some of the best ska and reggae based stuff in recent years from the Slackers, Hepcat and Rancid with new releases from The Aggrolites and Westbound Train on the way.

Former host on Indie 103.1, Dicky Barret was the leader of the late 90's ska band The Bosstones.

There is a ska show every week in the LA area not just including The Bluebeat Lounge @ The Knitting Factory.
