I think that Spier-man and Mary Jane should stay together to show what love looks like. I have no problem with her dying, but I have a problem with what we'll be showing kids if they divorce.

Mary Jane has always been one of my favorite comic characters for her strength, sassiness, and love for Peter Parker. Pulling them apart for dramatic tension is absurd.

Peter and Mary-Jane serve as a role model for a loving relationship. Spider-Man has always seemed like a real role model to me, and his happy marriage is just another role for him to model.

Spider-Man's interaction with Mary Jane has added a level of humanity to him, something that makes him far more relatable and likable as a character. Taking this away would serve only a small portion of the demographic, and in the end, lose them as well. You can't just keep Spider-Man young and fit forever while every other hero ages and settles down. Your logic is circular.
because I am old guy who doesn't have much left. I know the marriage is bad for Spider-Man the character, but I don't care. See..comics should be written for me. The guy who has been reading for 20 years. Having Spider-Man be married is so important to me. God knows what will happen if other people join our secret comic book society.
ever since Straczynski took the helm, the Peter/Mary-Jane dynamic has been a huge part of why I follow Amazing Spider-Man. Take that away and you kill at least 50% of the reason I keep buying the comics. I'm HOPING that JMS won't write a breakup storyline for them, but there's always the possibility they'll get someone else to do so. For frak's sake, people, it's PETER AND MJ!

becauase MJ is not just Peters girlfriend, shes his wife his true love. This ic comics not daytime tv there is no need for soap opera. There are other ways to make peters personal life more interesting.

Peter has been married to MJ for almost twenty years now. It now IS the status quo, and it works for the character. I promise you, if you decide to retcon the marriage, it will be remembered alongside such other huge mistakes as the Clone Saga.
I support this position because Spider-Man being married to MJ is very much a part of the Spider-Man mythos to me. Aside from the fact that it would destroy 20 years of story and alienate many true spidey fans.
The marriage is an integral part of Peter's character now. Some of my favorite issues deal with the Peter/MJ marriage. It makes Spider-man unique as he is not only a struggling super hero, he is also a man concerned with his family. Peter is always a family oriented character. The death of a family member is why he is Spider-man, and he has always worked to protect his Aunt May. Peter is now part of his own family, and as a young adult I think he is just a strong a role model and as relatable as he has always been, and that instead of trying to fix Peter writers should focus on exploring the story possibilities that exist as part of his current status quo.
I have read their marriage since I started reading comics. I would hate to see it go down the drain because Joe Q doesn't like it. At least give a better reason to do it. I wanna see them stay together.
because Peter and MJ are one of the only enjoyable aspects of Spider man nowadays. Every story like The Other, Sins Past, Insect Queen, etc, do far more damage to the character of Spider Man than him being a married man.Take the blinkers off Joe. Peter and Mary Jane have been married for nearly 20 years. That says something. They've been together since even before I was reading comics. Destroying the best comic book marraige of all time will not only piss me off, but pretty much all the other Spider-Man fanboys out there too. For the love of God Joe Quesada! Don't do it! I've never had a problem with you Joe, but if you do anything to ruin Pete and MJ's marraige then I will have a problem with you.
I support this as a backup plan because I don't think Quesada is dumb enough to try to split them up again. He stated recently that you can't annul, divorce, or kill one of them off. So there you go. We're safe..
I support this petition because Spider-man and Mary Jane are perfect for eachother. They weren´t forced together like other fictional couples. They just fitted together so greatly that Marvel got them married. Mr.Quesada, don´t destroy this marriage just because you don´t like it and realise that Spider-man in the 616 universe will never ever become a teenager again. He´s already a grown man and we all love him for it.

This really is one of the dumbest ideas ever. A dumb idea that has failed more than once before. Peter needs MJ and MJ needs Peter. Please Mr. Quesada, don't do this. Changing Spider-Man's costume is enough of a change for a while. Leave the character alone.

I've been a Marvel fan for nearly 30 years, with spidey being my favourite character. If Marvel is employing writers that are having difficulties with Petr's & MJ's marriage, then get better writers. It's that simple. I'm a big fan of a lot of the things Joe Q has done in the past to restore Marvel to its former glory, but this is not one of those things. Nobody has a problem with the marriage Joe. If new readers want to read about a young and single Spider-Man, isn't that what MArvel put out the "Ultimate" and "adventures" titles for?
Marvel already has Spider-Man single and young in Marvel Adventures and Ultimate Spider-Man.

Joe Q, please check fan reactions across all forums for their reactions; the idea, if it is going to separate, kill, or divorce MJ from Peter, is not sitting too well with the fans.
because peter and maryjanes marriage is a staple of peter parker, and yet another thing that defines him as a hero. his ability to balance his RESPONSIBILITY (a staple characteristic of spider-man) to mary jane with his responsibility to the rest of the world is one of his most admirable traits, and one of the things that attracted me to peter, even at the young age of 10. peter and mj's relationship is an example of something that everyone wants, even at the age, and i think it would be a tragedy if that was wrecked for any reason.
they are the definitive comic book relationship, no other relationship in marvel comcis or perhaps any comics has the love and emotion that those two have
I've been a reader since way before the marriage, and I always saw it as a good thing. Peter and MJ have a believable, loving relationship and I think that's rare enough in comics that it should be celebrated and kept up.
Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson have been married since before I started reading Spider-Man regularly. I think they belong together. In fact, that seems to be the path that the movies are taking and past cartoon shows have taken. After all, doesn't a hero as put-upon as Spidey deserve to get the girl.
Spider-Man has earned the happiness he gets from his marriage. Getting rid of Mary Jane will only cause a regression for Spider-Man's character. You might win a few new fans but you risk losing everybody else.
