This is a petition to the Lincoln City Council to preserve the Starship 9 theater, located at 1311 Q St.

The Starship 9 is Lincoln's only second-run movie theater - to destroy it would be to destroy a vital part of downtown Lincoln.

In addition, it would be a terrible loss for those in Lincoln - especially large and/or lower-income families - who can't afford to just wait and buy the movie when it comes out on DVD, let alone to take their families to see movies at the Grand for three or four times the price of the Starship. Not only would it affect these families, but the loss of the Starship would also be a huge blow to affordable weekend entertainment for one of Lincoln's largest demographic groups: the college population.

Please don't just sit back and let this happen. The Starship 9 is a valuable asset to downtown Lincoln and holds a special place in the hearts of many of its residents. You can make a difference! Please help us to save the theater!

Though I no longer live in Lincoln, I fully support the effort to overturn the council's decision to demolish the Starship 9. This is one of the only inexpensive entertainment venues for the youth to enjoy. No one can honestly state that there are enough venues of this nature. Without the Starship 9, more youth will be driven into boredom and may become more likely to involve themselves in illegal activity.

Losing starship would be a terrible loss for many people. It has been a valuable venue for many people for many years.

Lincoln doesn't need another parking garage at the expense of a business that provides entertainment to lower income families, students and others who don't want to spend $10 to see a movie.

Save it! To many peopleuse the theatre to tear it down. plus it brings more income to lincoln than a parking garage would.

The starship movie theater and the ross provide better variety and atmosphere than anything that will replace it. I'm sure the Grand will me pleased but the I assure Lincoln's middle class and college students are disappointed.

We have been going to the Starship for the past 15 years. My husband's and my first date was there... We take our kids there regularly. Please listen to all these people that appreciate the Starship--if you tear it down, WHAT A LOSS!

I have been going to the Starship 9 since it opened and I was in college. Now, it is the only affordable place I can take my children to the movie. We all love coming to the movies there. Please reconsider taking it away!
