Don't be fooled by the official release of the Star Wars trilogy on DVD on September 21, 2004. Though it assumes the title of the original series, it is in fact the "special" edition, rereleased in all its Guido-shoots-back, CGI Jabba glory. And now, for even you special edition purists, Mr. Lucas is heading back to the vaults to digitally manipulate the faces of some of the actors so as to look more similar to the actors featured in the prequels. I can see how some people may find merit in this. But me, I just want the original versions, unadulterated, and put on DVD. If enough of us don't buy this "special" edition, maybe Mr. Lucas will get the message: you can do what you want with your own films, but please, at least give us a choice.

Lucas may say Star Wars is his, but it really was the fans that made Star Wars as famous as it became. Don't all of us deserve the version of the movie we all loved so much?

Did all you Star Wars haters out there see Revenge of the Sith!? It was the best!! I saw it ten times already! If you didn't see it and you hate Star Wars all because of the old movie re-makes, you really missed out on the best movie that ties everything together. George Lucas did a great directing job too! ^_^

I love films. My favourite film is 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, followed by THE GRADUATE, NORTH BY NORTHWEST and others, which include STAR WARS. The special effects, performances and direction are amazing, and although I like the special editions, I agree that George Lucas should release the trilogy as they originally were. Some people prefer the original cuts. I disliked RETURN OF THE JEDI and STAR WARS EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES, but loved all of the rest. I think it is unnecessary for Lucas to create yet another trilogy. By the way, those who can't wait to see the final film, don't worry . . . you won't be disappointed and it will be worth the wait.

One change I dont approve of and thats erasing Sebastian Shaw as Anakin at the end when Luke sees Yoda, Obi Wan and Anakin and adding Hayden Christensen. Hayden Christensen does play Anakin very well but what would the man who originaly played Anakin in that part feel? Its like kicking him out of the movie. I know he did still have a role but i dont think he played Darth Vader through the whole movie, just the unmasking. Luke even looks older than Anakin there and Haydens his father! I reckon they should of left Sebastian Shaw as Anakin at the end of ROTJ but maybe could of added Hayden somewhere else. As much as I liked Ian McDiamid as the Emperor, they kicked out the old woman who played the Emperor in ESB and added the Revenge of the sith looking Emperor. That just kicked her out of the movie. I liked the editing dont get me wrong, but they could of at least included the original versions of the movie in the 2004 trilogy DVD Boxset so everyone in the originals get notified too.

Wow. I was reading and got to a post by 'Adam Cook'. You shouldn't even call yourself a fan, Mr. Cook. You're just another one of Peter Jackson's stupid fanboy *****es.

For all of you who want the original star wars trilogy, you need to get a life, their old. I think lucas should remake the trilogy after he finnishes with revenge of the sith, and i think it was a good idea to change shaw at the end, it will make your children actually get it when they watch it fourty years from now. That's what i want, for other people to enjoy it. They won't like it when the movie is crap for todays standards. Just accept that the original trilogy is dead. (but lucas should still redo them, that's what I would do.) Pete' jack'''

You dont replace Shaw with Hayden unless it is out of pure spite. If anyone has any balls they wont be seeing Revenge of the Sith when it opens. If he doesnt announce the real films on DVD, we should make sure this film breaks no opening records.

he should have released double sided DVDs(1 side with the original and 1 side with his new edits) like Spielberg did with E.T.

guys getting the 'original' on dvd aint gonna happen they had to strip down the original film stock for 1997's special edition because it had decayed i personally think the new edition looks great the film quality and colouring have improved tenfold however having said this hayden christiansen is a crappy vader, hes simply not tall enough how anyone that they could put this little pretty-boy into the boots of the most feared dark lord in the galaxy must have had a few loose so my complaint is not about the storyline or the new dvd only the ****4brains casting director and the horrific way the entire film and media industry these days thinks that only children watch movies
