What a disappointment that your magizine would publish such a piece. Dog breeding strictly for profit with no regards for the animals is a disgrace as well as people that sell just for profit. I will really think twice before I give my money to such a magzine again.
How sad that you chose to feature a young man engaged in such a horrific enterprise. These teacup puppies are bred in puppy mills or by backyard breeders with little thought to health issues or the future of these tiny creatures. Please have the graciousness and courage to present the other side of the story...puppy mills and backyard breeders and the terrible problems that they perpetrate.
Before you praise someone for their entrepreneurial pursuits, you need to educate yourself on these "pursuits." You obviously did not do your homework or you would know that this boy and his mother are nothing more than puppymillers! They are the lowest form of humanity deserving to be exposed for what they are and certainly not praised!
What a shame... a young child, as well as an adult, promoting the selling of helpless dogs to homes they may never have wished to be in. A RESPONSIBLE owner of a pup will SCREEN homes, and be sure the owner that is getting the puppy is RESPONSIBLE themselves. I would never buy a puppy online. And I believe their internet company should be notified of what they are doing, and banned from the service, but that's just my opinion! I hope these two pay for what they are doing! God punishes in ways no one will ever know! They'll pay the price some day!
What a lack of compassion and understanding you display by featuring this teen as an entrepreneur. "Teen Titans" are nothing to be admired by those who care for animals. You have bought into the "anything for a dollar" mentality and it does damage to the responsible treatment of small animals. You owe your readers an article on how much these people contribute to the suffering and ultimate death of hundreds of thousands of animals every year. I am ashamed for you !
I cannot believe in this day and age that People Magazine would promote something so inhumane! Let us, THE PEOPLE, speak-out, and hopefully YOU will listen!
I am saddened that your magazine took the time to write an article about prospering teens without investigating what they are selling. I once met a teen that made a very profitable living selling adult porn on the web, but this isn't the type of image you would want. You certainly should not want a promoter of puppymill image either. Just another instance of the media not doing their job with research.
Puppy mills should be made illegal throughout the US. It should also be illegal for any pet store or person to buy puppies from puppy mills and resell them. They serve no purpose to any breed of dog, who are often subjected to cramped & filthy living conditions, nor to people who are not well informed about what the repercussions are when they buy a dog that comes from a puppy mill. These people not only support such a cruel practice, (unintentional or not) but they also unknowingly buy a puppy that is often unhealthy or has some genetic defect. Puppy mills only benefit those people who profit from this reckless breeding practice. The dogs are merely merchandise to those people which is why it is so important to educate the public about puppy mills and to put an end to them permanently.
I cannot believe People Magazine would condone the exploiting of innocent animals. A "Back Yard Breeder" today, a "Puppy Mill" tomorrow! It's all about money isn't it?
STOP THE PUPPYMILLS - what a shame that People Magazine is promoting this - I hope they will re-think what they have done after reading all these comments.
It is absolutely shameful that People magazine chooses to praise someone who is obviously ignorant about dogs, their care, breeding, and wellfare, simply because he is young. Making money is not the end all be all! Shame on People magazine for supporting Puppymills and their "laundering" through seemingly innocent middlemen like cuddlypuppy.com.
I had no idea People magazine was so stupid and irresponsible. How could you publish something so detrimental to small animals. SHAME ON YOU FOR HURTING SMALL ANIMALS.
These types of ventures should be outlawed! The loosers are the puppies and the winners only line their pockets with money and operate without a conscience. STOP THE PUPPYMILLS!
Shame on you People, how irresponsible to promote a puppy mill marketing program. When the publishers of people show such ingnorance by lack of knowledge or research, all credability is out the window for anything written in their magazine. After many years of reading People, I will never purchase another copy.
Is this a puppy mill siduation or does he know what he's doing? Our world surly doesn't need more puppy mills or uneducated backyard breeders. PLEASE encourage this young man to do research before he breeds. With all the unwanted and surplus animals today, no one should be breeding just for the sake of money.
You have no idea what horrors these poor defenseless dogs suffer at the hands of people like this, who not only don't know, but don't care what horrific genetic problems they are procreating by this indescriminate breeding. They should be stopped, not glorified. The animals only have us, the caring humans, to defend and try to protect them.
There are thousands of puppies in rescues and animal shelters waiting to get adopted. Many of which will be euthanized because there are not enough people who will adopt them. Putting in an article of rescue homes would be better for both the animals and people alike.
This young man is just trying to make some money. I'm glad he has drive and ambition and is a hard worker. I'm sure he is not aware of the pitfalls. He probably just needs educating on the horrors of puppy mills. It's the magazine, the adults, that should know better. The magazine should be aware of how this article could encourage puppy mills.
I contact young Timorthy who doesn't realize the damage he's doing with this "fun" business. Fun for him, but he knows nothing about the conditions these breeders are subjecting the dogs to, and the health issues that are not addressed. Also, his guarantee is a fraud, it is nullified if you don't buy his dog vitamins.
Using animals as baby making machines for human profit without concern for the health and emotional well being of animals is human greed at its worst. I will not buy any more People magazines.
I was shocked to see People magazine honor someone for taking part in a business that is so detrimental to animals. It is frightening to think about how many readers may think that breeding and selling animals is a viable and healthy small business with out understanding how terible it is for the animals.
I hope that People magazine will recitfy this situation by running an expose article about puppy mills, backyard breeding, and pet stores. Please educate your readers to the montrosities and let them know about shelters and rescues as alternatives to adding a pet to the family.
Your sense of journalism has moved to sensationalism. To portray this young man as a success is as disgraceful as what he is doing. How about an article about puppy mills and breeders who attempt to combine breeds for the sake of cute with absolutely no sense of concern with the health problems they are creating. Shouldn't be too difficult; you can start with what you have written in this article. Shame on you People Magazine!
Peopel Magazine you shold be ashamed of yoursevles for printing such a dispicable article and promoting this type of business. You can bet I will never ever buy another People Magazine!
please cover the other side of how dogs cats live in horrible conditions in puppy mills.. as well as the designer mutts which are really just mixed breeds of which millions are killed every year because there are no homes
This is disgusting and make me physically nauseous. I will not longer buy people magazine and I will make sure to tell my family not to either. Sad that a parent would encourage their child to do something so horrid as well. Guess it's true when they say bad people only keep bredding more bad people. Some humans deserve to be fixed.
This is an example of poor journalism. Human interest stories should be balanced by accuracy and take into account the negative impact that person is having on their environment. If the person who wrote the article knew anything about the process of purebred puppy sales over the internet they would not want to promote this horrible way to sell animals.
You need to do more investigating on puppy mills, and not encourage this child to do such horrible things to these puppies. He should go check out the conditions that these puppies grow up in and then see if he want so sell these sick puppies to people. If he wants to do good for dogs, he should do rescue work and see where and how alot of these puppies will end up.
Please allow an article on puppymills to be published. Those of us in rescue have seen their damage first hand and will never forget or get over what we have seen. As a People reader, I feel that you owe it to your public and readers to show the "dark side" of the business. It is NOT some "cutesy" little business but a horror story of the nightmares that puppymill dogs endure! Please show some resposibility to those of us who work so hard to right the wrongs committed by these pitiful examples of human beings who use pets as a cash crop! I am outraged that you feel this child is doing something good!
i feel puppy mills are used as slavery spots for poor helpless animals who live their lives some entirely in squalor filth and pain and fear.and the owners reap the benifits.this should be stopped most of the off spring come out sickly and never live long. also the mill dogs rescued sometimes never fully recover from their ordeal they have been thru.
It is astounding that the editors at a huge national publication could be ignorant enough to paint the greedy, selfish, CRUEL, irresponsible acts of a morally corrupt teenager in a positive light. Now how about educating the country on what this boy is REALLY doing. How about running a story, for the sake of contrast, on say, a boy like Wyatt of Wyatt's Ruff Rescues in Fl. At nine years of age he useds all the money he had saved from X-mas, the tooth fairy, and good report cards to start an animal rescue. He takes in animals that are about to be put down BECAUE THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE TIMOTHY OUT THERE and to date has saved over 200. He has recieved numerous awards and accolades, and been featured on TV and in catalogues. But YOU look past a child who is actually doing good in this world and honor one who is simply out to make a quick buck off the suffering of animals. That couldn't be more revolting.
Please give time to the rescue groups that work so very hard to save some of these millions of dogs that are put to sleep every yr. because of puppy mills and backyard breeders that have overpopulated this country from coast to coast with ill-bred, sick and injured dogs.
Teen Titans should be taught some sense by moms and dads.Puppymills, where is little dogs come from, are mills of misery for the dogs who inhabit them. Timothy and his mom should have to go spend some time with these poor unfortunate dogs before making money off their suffering.
How completly irresponsible of this publication to praise someone whom is promoting such terrible living conditions for these litte dogs. You should really be ashamed of yourselves!
People magazine should do a follow up of this article to teach people to respect animals, but then again, people cant respect each other so I guess it would be too much to ask them to respect an animal.
It's a shame to see People magazine shining a light on this young BROKER of puppymill puppies. I for one will never buy another copy of People magazine unless they reverse this horrible endorsement of this young "entrepeneur".
Regardless of how many say this isnt condoning a puppy mill, it IS.
Shame, for advertising and agreeing with adding to the agony of many animals.
Why can't you do an article on puppy mills and how puppies like this article is supporting are treated?
Didnt know your magazine would exploit animals.
i would suggest that with the petition you give people magazine a ton of info showing the thousands of unwanted dogs and cats that die each year. maybe that will pave the way.
