I hope that People Magazine will agree to print the article. There is too much animal neglect and abuse in this country. I am truly shocked that People Magazine would promote Puppymills. The American public far to often turns a blind eye to these problems, because it is too terrible and they "don't want to know". An article in People Magazine could help open their eyes and educate them. I look forward to hearing that they have agreed to do so. I am forwarding this petition to all in my address book, so it will be certainly be circulated world-wide.
People Magazine should do some research about the subject before they print a story such as this. In five minutes online you can find hundreds of reasons why this is NOT a good thing. Check out the rescue page for any of these dogs.
It's disgusting that People magazine would "highlight" this teen as a "titan." The fact checker definitely missed their mark on this one as they would have learned that this is just a glorified puppymill.
Responsible breeders fight every day to inform and educate the general public about the hazards of puppy mills. Your magazine reaches tens of thousands of people, making all our hard work, even harder. I would like you to spend as much time informing people of the pain and suffering of dogs in puppy mills. Then point them in the CORRECT way to purchase a pet that they can love for a lifetime.
Sounds like this family needs to be educated on the lack of health and wellness of mill dogs as well as what happens to the puppy's parents. Asking People Mag to please do an article on the cruelties of puppy mills.
"Teen Titan"? Looks more like a "Teen Puppy Exploiter Who Doesn't Understand the Plight of Millions of Homeless Animals" to me. Harsh, but true. Those puppies don't come from responsible breders - responsible breeders don't sell their puppies to a 16 year old broker (or any broker at all, for that matter!)
No reputable breeder would ever sell their dogs over the internet. What this boy is doing is irresponsible and cruel. I am surprised that a magazine of you stature would laud such despicable behavior . . . Anything for a buck!
People magazine should be ashamed for putting this type of story into print, how many other "teen titans" will they inspire to do the same thing? Perhaps they should visit an animal shelter or spend a day with a rescuer to understand how truly disgusting this is!
It would be wise to investigate the sorce's these puppys are coming from. As a "animal lover it will make you sick. Animal lovers support responsable breeders that are improving the breed. They are not into it to make a quick buck at the expense of breeding dogs that are prone to health problems and are treated in ways that are horrible and discusting. You are a smart young man, do some homework on puppymills. Do you really want to be a part of this as a animal lover?
This is an outrage for People magazine to promote Timothy Hampson as being an entrepreneur, when he is actually nothing more than a puppymiller, breeding dogs of poor quality, and who will surely have major health problems, for pure profit!!! This person should NOT be praised for this kind of business practice, regardless of his age!!
Breeders of this sort should be shut down, there should be registard provincial breeding boards that have high standards on care and health of the animals and only licenced breeders can maintain their lienced business.
Entrepreneurs should be encouraged except when innocent pets are involved. These dogs are being bought and sold for profit only. This "teen titan" could care less about the dog, where it comes from, or to whom it goes. Shame on his mother for supporting this endeavor. I do hope People magazine will do an article on puppymills and back yard breeders.
Tim, you have found a way to make money by exploiting helpless animals. I would guess that you aren't concerned about who buys them or how their life will be after they leave your inadequate premises. Nor are you concerned about where these little creatures came from--what conditions they were born into before they reached your mercenary hands. I would hope that you might find another way to demonstrate your entrepreneureal skills--something that doesn't bring harm and hurt to living creatures.
I am fully disgusted that you would let someone with bad judgment and a danger to the dogs he is exploiting, be put up as an example to other youths and even adults. You should have investigated more on breeding to find what he is doing is "not right".
No one should condone puppy mills. Visit one & you will immediately see why. It's heartbreaking what people will put animals through just for a profit. Who cares about the dog as long as the green is in that wallet, right? WRONG! Please do not support people like this.
Shame on people magazine for promoting puppymills no matter how cute and cuddly they may be.
The young lad should be made aware of where these pups come from and how they are treated.
I was very upset at the fact that this boy is selling undersized cavaliers as being health and the best quility breed dogs. I can not believe your magazine would promote puppy mills and back yard breeders and puppy brokers the worst type of people this country has to offer. For a kid to be in this business is just sickning.
It is very sad to laud a person for his cruelty to puppies. This young man needs to channel his ambitions without using loving, living things. Puppymills need to be CONSISTENTLY condemned no matter the age of the proprietor.
As a reputable breeder of Boston Terriers, which this irresponsible family lists as one of "their" breeds, I was dismayed to learn that these adults are not only NOT teaching their son responsibility, but are aiding and abetting him; or, more likely,"using" him as a "shill" for the unsuspecting buying public.Your magazine falls into the above category, also. You're no better than they are, to promote this puppy miller. We thought we were doing a good job educating the public not to buy from these pet shop suppliers, but apparently, your staff and your editor haven't been listening. For shame, to all of you.
Puppies should not be treated as mere money-making commodities. They are living, breathing creatures and the breeding of such should be left to experts, not 'teenage entrepreneurs".
Making money at the expense of innocent animals is a disgrace. Stop this practice before an animal dies in a abusive home because no one checked it out.
SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE MAGAZINE!!
Sham on you People Magazine, you should be ashamed of yourself for endorsing the puppymill industry.
If you only knew the suffering that these animals endure in order to line the pockets of the greedy.
It is very irresponsible of People Magazine to publish an article without fully researching it first. Just go to www.stoppuppymills.com to see the horrors of puppymills. This "business" is at the expense of living, breathing, blood pumping animals.
I am involved in Pug Rescue and too many of these "designer puppies" will end up in rescue or the humane society, or worse.
Your magazine should do a story on the people involved in rescue. A lot of hours, tears and heartache with no pay. Only the satisfaction of saving another animal and finding it a forever home.
Debbie Chatelain
I am ashamed to learn that this Teen Titan is from Houston, TX. I am also very surprised at People Magazine's lack of research before 'publishing' this story in a favorable light. Please don't endorse people like this that broker and sell dogs for profit.
You have made a huge error in judgement.
Can't believe your magazine didn't research puppy mills before publishing such an article. People that sell pups over the internet should have their AKC/UKC privileges taken away.
This is disgusting.
we as breeders spend years trying to do the RIGHT thing by our animals and some young punk comes along and decides to become another PUPPYMILL> Just what we don't need. Someone needs to stop him, NOW....
Endorsing the treatment of companion animals as mere livestock and encouraging irresponsible breeding for profit hurts the animals and their new owners. Shame on People magazine!
Well, now more dogs will need to be placed in rescue do to this young man's mother. She obviously does not believe in or teach her children the value of life. Unless your magazine publishes a retraction due to lack of research before publishing an article I will never buy another one again. Do you have any idea of how hard it is for reputable breeders due to these puppy mills? Many states have now passed laws limiting or making it extremely hard for breeders due to this type of activity. How do they know they are placing them in good homes? They don't. Animals are not 'things' to be bartered. I am horrified and disgusted.
The poor animals involved in this. This article should not of been about a boy who knows little or nothing about how to take care of these animals but how he helps Puppy Mills thrive and hurts people that get these dogs and the actual dogs now and in the long run.
SHAME ON YOU PEOPLES MAGAZINE...you need to redeem yourselves by printing a large article on the horrors of puppy mills and encouraging people to adopt from shelters and rescue groups. When I hear you have done that I will start buying your magazine again..until then consider me an ex People magazine reader!!
Great, puppymills on the internet. What's next? People magazine should be ashamed of themselves for considering this young man as an honest businessman. Rescue groups spend millions of dollars saving these poor dogs from terrible conditions. Shame on this child's mother for helping him with this.
This is so irresponsible of People Magazine. I can't believe they would run something like this and glorify it. I can just see all of the kids now starting puppy mills in their kitchens and garages. Absolutely Disgusting!
Apparently it doesn't matter to you how these young entrepreneurs made their money - because if it did you wouldn't have even considered including someone who brokers puppies. Where do you think puppy brokers get their puppies? From puppy mills, that's where - because no reputable breeders ever sell through brokers. I cannot believe that you are celebrating this young man's "accomplishments" - you should be ashamed, and he should be ashamed as well.
Wow - I can't believe a story glorifying this kid's "business" in puppy-mill brokerage ever made it in a national magazine. Sure it sounds good - sweet little Timmy only picks the best 200 "breeders" to sell puppies from! Sounds real adorable, but in reality backyard breeders and puppy mills are horrible operations concerned only with profit. Shame on you. I hope you can redeem yourself in my eyes, or I will no longer support your magazine.
Why with the credence your magazine usually has would you stoop so low as to feature a puppy mill set up? Would you feature a 30 year old doing this? I think not. You have ended my ever being this magazine again.
the governemt and agricultural department who treat them like cows as livestock should all be made to live in their conditions for the rest of their lives. Dam them all
