I can't believe this sort of thing can be printed for the masses to read and the editors think it's OK?! Do we wonder why there are so many animals in resuces and being euthanized due to over population! People Magazine, I feel you need to write an article on the millions of dogs in rescues BECAUSE of situations like the one you printed! What about them?
It's a pretty sad world we live in when people believe it is OK to exploit animals for monetary gain. This is no better than a puppymill and absolutely nothing to be proud of.
This is a puppy mill, pure and simple, with no way of seeing if the new owners even know how to care for a dog!! Sorry, it isn't entreprenurial at all, but an evil trade. Many puppies die each year and their parents are condemned to a living hell of being caged and forced to produce puppies over and over.
I am cancelling my newsagents subscription to your magazine as are close on a hundred of my friends and colleagues - we work in dog rescue!
This is awful what a disgrace! There is no way this lil boy has the knowledge or training to place this many dogs he SHOULD NOT be commended but repremanded.
This is a disgrace to true entrepreneurship. This capitalizes on the misery of puppymill puppies...and People Magazine in glamorizing what this irresponsible teenager and his mother are doing to promote puppy mills.
Please look in your heart and allow us to speak out for all the nameless, voiceless animals out there who need homes more than entrepeneurs need money.
Since when does PEOPLE magazine promote brokers of puppy millers???? This kid is no entreprenuer - he's out for a quick buck and the puppy millers found a gold mine when they found him because he's young and ignornant to the fact of puppy mills! Stop glorifying this! No legit breeder would sell their dogs on the internet! Check out the number of dogs in shelters and in rescue and do the math, that's where these dogs end up - or they end up dead.
Money is what it is all about! Too bad Animals can't "sell" the People who sell them! Or, have breeders spend night in one of their own living hell breding kennels!
Shame on you! You promote a young man that is selling puppies over the internet!! We work hard to close down puppymills that breed only for money and don't care about the ultimate end that these dogs suffer! I will definitely NOT buy PEOPLE magazine again! You are encouraging this horrible practice!
Too bad you are not using your media to stop this tragedy; instead you are compounding the problem by promoting this as being 'eentrepreneurial' - think of all of the animals that are euthanized daily due to overpopulation.
The animal shelters are already overcrowded with thousands of healthy viable cats and dogs dying daily. Promoting this type of internet sales of unhealthy, poorly bred animals only brings forward a reason for more poorly bred, unhealthy animals to be bred, and sold, and ending up in animal shelters once sickness or problems show up. This is escalating the problem of pet over population, and soon there will be no way to help them at all if this exploitation of animals is allowed to continue.
Repudible breeders love and care for animals and reluctantly part with their puppies only when they are sure they are going to a loveing and caring home.
Wow what a way to make money //// Is this the best you can do. Puppy milling. Have you no conscience? and for people magazine to run and article like that is unbelieveable
selling puppies on the internet. very irresponsible of the teen and his mother and the breeders who are selling these puppies to him.they must be stopped.
Maybe the teenager should've started a dogwalking business instead of a puppy mill which would have been more appropriate for a teenager who is not an experienced breeder!
I am dismayed that you would "honor" such an individual. This kind of activity just helps keep puppy mills in business. I know how they work because I volunteer for a boxer rescue group. I wonder how many of these puppies are being purchased for dog fighting????????
This child has no idea of the heritable defects that exist in all breeds. To exploit animals as a commodity in such a magazine is a disgrace to humanity. Shame on PEOPLE Magazine, the "Teen Titan,", his mother and anyone involved in supporting this so-called business. Visit a local shelter!
Shame on this boys mother! Shame on People magazine!None of this would be happening, if the mother was not so ignorant! perhpas if she knew she's a puppy miller, and is incouraging her son to do the same, she might put a stop to it. I think it's call ignorance!! However, people magazine should know this is wrong, and should not have printed it, pointed mother and son in the right direction...help out at animal shelters, encourage people to do the same, donate time and money to aid our poor homeless/puppy mill dogs.
People, do an article on puppy mills. Educate, not encourage this horrid situation.
what a horror story. SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE. Do better research, you just set the hard work of thousands of rescue groups,a nd reputable breeders back 100 years.
Oh spare me People Magazine. Is this all you can report about? What about animal cruelty, breed racism, and other animal issues? Why don't you adress some real, hard-core issues regarding animals instead of a puppy mill scheme?
take this kid to a puppy mill and let him see what type of breeder he is supporting with this enterprise. How about giving those that rescue these puppies equal space?
Hopefully this family will now understand the mistake they're making and reconsider encouraging this type of "business". There are lots of ways to make money which don't harm other people or animals. Let's give this family the benefit of the doubt.
Pick another venture young man. Check out your sources for your puppies FIRST. This was a really uneducated move. With all of your capacity you would do well in many areas, PLEASE drop this one!
Selling puppies on the internet.. IRRISPONSIBLE, Sadly this boys parent are giving him a terrible message. ?? Its about just show me the money , at a living creatures expense. What a terrible message to teach ! children need to learn to look out for the welfare of animals, they need to know in life, money isn't everything.!!.
I realize the kid is just trying to make himself a name and money, the concept is good, but not the merchandise. There are other ways to make money....they do not even mention a spay/neuter policy! We are trying to erradicate puppy mills, not promote them.
I hope your magazine will find an example of a teenager who is working to improve the lives of animals. There are any number of teens working
to enrich the world, rather than just themselves.
I will never buy another one of your magazines nor will anyone I know, if I have any say in it. How irresponsible of you to glorify this youngsters business. If this is your idea of an Entrepreneur, I'm afraid the world is in deep doo doo! This young man and anyone who helps him is not doing anything but make a profit at the expense and suffering of others....and the "others" unfortunately cannot defend themselves against him. Even Ebay draws the line at selling animals...contact them and find out why.....your little Entrepreneur probably tried to sell there and was banned! Good luck! You are now, imho equal in rank to the Enquirer. So sad......
Please print a story telling of the dangers and poor conditions of Puppy Mills, Help promote the adoption from rescue groups and pounds rather than supporting the poor treatment of puppy mill dogs
Dedicated dog lovers are working hard to put a stop to puppy mills and then People magazine comes along to glorify a person involved in a puppy mill. You have given support to these people. What were you thinking?
500 animals an hour are killed in this country because of irresponsible breeding.WHY are you encouraging this. What if any research have you done? go to www.prisonersofgreed.org. Then tell us that this child deserves this honor
This will only encourage others to try this sort of business. Meantime, more will suffer. Why can't this magazine "educate" on the suffering and helplessness it causes instead?!
I looked at his website and he is obviously brokering puppymill dogs to unsuspecting buyers.
People magazine should have gone to his suppliers to see the conditions that the sires and dams of these puppies instead of promoting puppymill brokering over the internet!
Shameful.
I can understand wanting to cheer on an entrepreneur, but at what cost? By encouraging this youg person to peddle puppies to an unknown fate, you are encouraging people to abuse innocent animals. Where are the safeguards for these creatures who depend on us for safety? There are no safeguards on the internet, and the only thing this young man has in mind is pure profit for his pocket without regard to the consequences of his actions. Shame!
To portray this teen's "businees" in a positive light is completely irresponsible. Said teen might be able to claim ignorance (although even that is highly doubtful, given his site's link to Petfinder). But what's your excuse, People Magazine?
This is horrible! I cannot believe that People Magazine would risk their reputation by promoting this kind of article. There are a lot of people in this wold trying to put an end to puppymills and I just cannot believe that PeopleMagazine would allow this! Where are the articles on how horrible and inhumane these puppymillers are? I for one will not be buying or reading this magazine until there is a retraction! These are innocent lives we are dealing with!
People magazine has acted in a most irresponsible fashion by glorifying this young "entrepreneur"
Perhaps People magazine can give this young man an all-pexpenses-paid tour of the nation's shelters, where 1/3 of the abandoned dogs are purebreds.
When did we stop looking at business ethics before praising a money making scheme by an ignorant child. This business does nothing but counteract the work that 1000's of people and millions of dollars spent in the US to fight animal neglect, abuse and overpopulation. Shame on you People magazine for not thinking about the innocent victims; the animals and their human advocates who are so devastated by this undeserved press.
Retract, apologize and print an article on some deserving entrepeneur running a non-profit shelter out of their home, working 24/7 in dedicated service to the animals for little to no income. Now that would be worthy of such admiration and praise.
