I am totally shocked that you would run a story about a young man making money off dogs who are treated horribly. Please go visit some puppy mills, there are plenty, and see what they do to these dogs, the horrible conditions etc. Run a story on puppy mills and expose some people and I'll continue to read your magazine, ignore this and I'm done.
People Magazine has supported the use of puppymills by publishing this story. No one should be allowed to continue with a business like cuddlypuppy.com
There is a HUGE audience out there for animal rights & rescue grps. Endless stories that your mag. Could write about. RE: Helping poor dogs who have been throw out like someone’s trash. People involved in adding to the problem animal over population. People Mag. Has the power to make a difference in this. Please help these poor voiceless animals.
How very sad and incredibly irresponsible of People to showcase and essentially, promote puppy mills with the highlight of this particular "Teen Titan".
If a 16yr old has the audacity to peddle live little puppies over the internet, then this world is in big trouble. Perhaps he should pimp for his mother instead, then I would feel better!!! He probably would not make any money, but it might be fun for him!!!
This is exactly the type of operation that needs to be legislated out of existence. Timothy Hampson should be ashamed of himself and his mother should be ashamed for encouraging him to exploit animals.
We are sickened that People magazine chose to run a story like this. The horrors of puppymills are becoming more widely known and it is a known fact that most puppy stores, brokers and sales over the internet get puppies from puppymills. If you yourself don't know of puppymill horrors, we suggest you take the time to educate yourselves on it. It will make you ill. It would be much nicer to see People magazine run a story on puppymills to show the readers what kind of disgusting, cruel places these are. We rescued our dog from a place called Hearts United for Animals (www.hua.org) and it's these kind of places that deserve the attention for the loving, selfless, heartfelt work they do in resucing puppies and dogs.
We will not be renewing our subscription to People magazine. Shame on you for promoting this.
Too many puppies from breeders who specialize in overbreeding dogs end up in shelters and pounds. Please make your readers aware of the consequences of buying from breeders like cuddlepuppy.com
Try doing a little researce before prining an article. Learn about puppymills and see what a big mistake you made printing this article. I strongly suggest you print an article on puppymills and educate people .
This is absolutely disgusting! With all the poor animals in shelters, and you praise this person for basically running an online puppy mill? What happens when these poor animals have health problems or genetic abnormalities? I can tell you what - they end up in shelters and are euthanized! Yeah, that's a real success story - NOT!!
Timothy Hampton & his mother should be so proud of themselves. Rather than helping the animals who suffer in puppymills, they are promoting it. All in the name of the almight dollar. Maybe you should take some of that "hard" earned money and do something useful like donate it to your local shelter or pound!
While I commend the young man for being bright enough to start his own business i regret his lack of home work into what he chose. he too is now a broker for the puppymillers. perhaps he should look into where his pups are coming from before selling them and what kind of peole he is supporting. Home checks are needed to be sure a dog is in a good home and spay neuter contracts should be in place and upheald.
As a subscriber I was really put off after reading this article. One person said shame on People Magazine and I agree, but also shame on this boy's parents for allowing this to take place.
Let this boy/man be stoped there is to much of these people around ,and much animals (dogs ) that suffers from this kind of abuse !!! Please i hope that thismagezin find a better item to write and if not send a jounalist to a shelterand let him/her find our what people like this boy/man cause to this harmless animals !!!!
Sincerely anja aartsen!!!
As a responsible breeder of purebred dogs I am apalled at People magazine for supporting this kind of establishment. This is not the way to go about purchasing a dog. NO reputable breeder would use such a service.
Making a cute name up (cuddlypuppy) to sell puppies is clever, but oh so wrong. I hope this young man has the character to see that what he is doing is wrong. I hope People mag will do another story with a different veiwpoint; ie, all the work responsible breeders go to to make sure their pups get the best homes.
Articles like this tells children that it`s ok to disrespect an animals life if you can make some money out of it! Now, will you please tell this misleaded kids the results of such irresponsible behavour?
I am HORRIFIED and People magazines STUPIDITY and lack of awareness about this country's puppymill problems! This kid should be thrown in jail!
I will never buy your magazine again until you send out a retraction of this story!
SHAME ON YOU!
I am just outraged that People magazine can be so ignorant as to praise this boy for doing this! Maybe this boy and People magazine should be present when a good deal of those dogs are put to sleep or left on the street to die. I too would be happy with People doing a story on Puppy mills and I will not buy your magazine again until that happens. What's wrong with your magazine, dont you all research things fully before you print them??
It is disgraceful that our society STILL promotes puppy mills even with all the work that has been done to stop animal cruelty. People Magazine could do everyone a favor by exposing puppymills instead of encouraging others to support them!
I work with rescue groups. You need to do a story on rescues and shelters, and what needs to be done to stop the irresponsible breeding of dogs for profit. The living conditions for puppy mill dogs is disgusting and millions of dogs die each year. Please do your research and give this side of the issue equal time.
Please publish this article on Puppy mill and rescue dogs to give readers an copportunity to read about where the puppys in pet stores , on the internet et. It is vital to the health and well being of future puppies and their families.
People magazine should be a little more responsible about their reporting, but then it's only a pop culture rag anyway. Too bad so many people read it though. Anyway, that web site/company is shameful and it shouldn't get the free advertising that the article no doubt brought it.
Now more money hungry people will think a fortune can be made at the expense of animal. Shame on you at People. I now know why I do not buy your rag magazine.
What happens to the puppies when they are no longer cuddly? You need to show the numbers of dogs put to sleep every day when no one wants them. Puppy mills need to end, not be promoted by your magazine. The public needs to be educated on rescue dogs and save the lives that are killed every day in city pounds. Praise needs to be given to the foster homes/rescue people/transporters that spend their own time and money to save as many dogs as they can for certain death.
This article is a perfect example of everything that's wrong in the world today...People Magazine needs to tour a few puppy mills and view the dead dogs that lay in in their death cages ...Actually they still breath but don't be fooled they've been dead for years. You can see the hopeless look in each set of urine burned eyes if you bothered to look. These dogs never felt the love of a human hand or the warmth of a human lap . This boy is supporting this type of farming of dogs and People Magazine has made a statement that they have no issues with it, because they published the garbage...Nothing short of a retraction is in order here. You also may consider running an article a month for a year, on the evils of living off the backs of a living, loving , domestic animals and how doing so will send you straight to the gates of hell. The staff at people magazine must all be out there in la-la land. I can't fathom not one person thought this was pathetic and would ruin the Magazines reputation and brought it to the right people attention before it was published....ahhhh, that is IF there are any Right people . You surely saddened me, with you total disregard for your X readers.
It's because of people and "businesses" like this that cause the problems we face today. Shame on People Magazine for promoting this horrible industry. I've worked in a veterinary office and have seen first hand the results of puppy mills. It's sickening and there needs to be greater punishment for people who run them. People need to be educated on this serious issue, and if they MUST have a purebred dog...save a life and adopt a rescue!!! Never buy from the Internet, Broker or Pet Store!
both of my dogs are from rescue organizations. The first one returned to the breeder after 10 months because the owners found him to be too much work and the second abandoned at age 7 by the Molson Indy, I guess by people who couldn't be bothered looking after him anymore. Instead of looking at animals as commodities and money making opportunities we should be instilling values of responsibility and caring. The story about this young man to me just perpetuates abuse of animals.
How about including statistics on the numbers of unwanted animals who are euthanized yearly as well as cute little puppies & kittens who grow up to be large/full-sized dogs & cats? People who rescue animals do not make money, but they certainly do good, as well as very important, work--work that should be acknowledged & commended.
Shame on People magazine-- I will no longer purchase their magazine and shame on this boy and his mom for their dog sale business. I can't believe how stupid people still are today.
What this young man is doing is disguting and I'm very disappointed that such a well known magazine has run this story. I'll never be buying a People magazine every again.
Unbelieveable. Another step backward in the fight against puppy mills. Didn't anyone THINK before publishing this? This is an example of true American business - "Let's make money, damn the lives involved.
How can People condone this when thousands upon thousands of pets are dying in shelters each week? Many of the pets in the shelters originally came from breeders like these. They are making money off the deaths of all the unwanted pets, since they are adding to the problem. At least do an article on one of the SPCA puppy mill raids. Shose those photos to the public & then let them judge if this teenager should be praised for his "work."
such a sad state of affairs we are in. whatever happened to good old fashioned HARD WORK ?? People Magazine, please give rescuers and shelters appropiate space to respond.
It is infuriating and disgusting that you should publish this article as a success story. Perhaps you should follow up with the misery that results from such unthoughtful acts. If People is going to promote such abuse, perhaps we should not support such a rag of a magazine!!!!!!!
I'm steering clear of PEOPLE until there is a lot of information about the Hell of Puppy Mills and a retraction of the praise for this teenage creep. This speaks to the worst in our kids and todays society. I'd be ashamed if my child viewed living animals as a means to make a buck while contributing to the suffering.
