Next time look before you leap, "People". With a little insight you could be doing something to stop this inhumane business, not singing it's praises. Geez.
How irresponsible of People magazine to print an article that features a greedy teen promoting puppy mills. Unless People magazine runs an article on the truth about puppy mills, I will not renew my subscription.
I'm appauled that People Magazine would condone this type of reporting on something that promotes Puppy Milling. To me, it's very clear and blatent. This boy is clearly in this for the money, only, and only perpetuating Puppy Milling. Disgusting!
Absolutely SHAMEFUL. While those of us in rescue try to stem the overpopulation by spaying/neutering and offering to take dogs/cats back if the person cannot take care of it...this boy does nothing more than simply state he cares for animals while making no such guarentee and only recommending spaying/neutering. That is not responsible...and I for one will no longer subscribe to People magazine. In 5 years...I wonder how many of his puppies will end up in shelters throughout the USA.
I am appalled that People magazine would laud the efforts of someone who sells animals from puppymills over the internet. This is a horrible thing to promote.
If you want to do a story, try going down to Memphis where 80+ dogs and cats are euthanized every week. What would the public say if they knew mother dogs and their newborn pups were being put to sleep weekly? It's a shame that a magazine as widely read as yours would applaud this teen's efforts.
Entrepreneur, is that the new buzz word for puppymill! Wonder if this young man runs his business and does all the chores associated with his business????Please educate the average reader regarding the proper care and emotional needs animals require.
All Pupply Mills should be shut down. What kind of people allow this to go on?! Some humans will do anything to make money, they should be ashamed of themselves.
People magazine needs to do a better job with investigation of the stories they publish. This young man is nothing more than another back yard "puppy mill" selling puppies without any regard as to the puppies health or future homes.
I do hope that People magazine revisits this young man and publishes a follow up story due to our complaints. Many responsible breeders have contacted him and he will not reply to any questions or inquires. This young man is a entrepreneur caught up in the dirty business of being just another puppy mill.

I can't believe that you would consider this to be a good thing to report about. I am never going to read People magazine ever again and I am going to make sure that every one I know hears about this and follows me in boycotting People magazine!
Glorifying puppy mills is glorifying greed over hmane behavior towards animals. Please run a story about at least a few of the rescue groups that concentrate on rescuing puppies from puppy mills.
Unfortunately as a volunteer at my local animal shelter, I am very aware of the results of puppy mills who sell to unsuspecting people, and create animals whose lives are shortened due to poor health and genetic defects.
I am a People subscriber and an animal rescuer who volunteers countless hours fostering and transporting homeless animals. I will not renew my subscription to People Magazine if they choose to publish articles on ignorant and irresponsible people who have total disregard for the lives of animals.
The care and treatment of the puppies, should be the first priority of this young man. What could he be thinking of taking puppies from a puppy mill and selling them over the internet? I can understand him starting up a business, but there should be a better way for him to do a business. I can understand that his mother is helping him, but she should explain to him selling poor little puppies to any one. He should look into finding good homes and have references and home check-ups so that the puppy in question is happy and healthy. They say you learn from your mistakes, but not at the expence of these poor animals.
Not only are many worthy souls dying in shelters that could have been saved with homes taken by these puppy mill puppies, many hearts are broken as loving owners watch their new puppies are consumed by seizures, joint problems and mental issues that result from careless profit breedings.
Shame on PEOPLE for a very one sided look at this teen. More public awareness is needed ot shed light on the puppy mills in the US. More responsible reporting can make that happen.
Shame on this teen's mother!!!
People who peddle dogs for profit, without consideration of the dog's welfare are low-life scum bags, in my opinion. They should be scorned, not saluted by your magazine.
This is terrible that "People Magazine" would include this young boy on selling small helpless pups!!!!! Please don't encourage this type of behavior. Teach and reward responsible behavior toward animals!!!!!!
I will certainly tell my friends you are rewarding and support "Puppy Mills"!!!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
It is unbelievable that a magazine like this could be ignorant of the shameful puppymill situation in this country. How then do they justify endorsing the endeavors of these irresponsible teens. They are making a scandalous assault on the strides made by all the people and organizations involved in rescue.
Having done this they should do some research and present the true picture of the puppymills, and then make some kind of contribution to this noble work.
I can't believe that People magazine would actually promote this garbage. What we need is to educate people about the horrible puppy mills. You need to tell the real story of these horrific puppy mills. No more People magazine for me.
There are too many little animals dying in shelters, waiting for a new home in vain. I suggest that you walk a few shelters and help resuce. ALL these dogs were cute and cuddy puppies at one time. Now, they await their turn to die.
"People" please research your topics better and catch a clue! Backyard breeders and puppy production for profit is why so many animals are put down every day. Please do not promote this!
There are always at least two sides to every story. I hope "People" sees fit to air another side of this one. Too many people see breeding popular dogs as a get-rich-quick scheme, and it is the dogs who suffer.
Dogs that are bred and sold in petstores/over internet can have social, physiological, and psychological problems due to irresponsible breeding and being taken from their mothers/littermates at too young an age!! People magazine should also print an article showing the "ugly" side of puppy sales.
This is disgusting. This is just what WE, in "Animal Welfare" fight tooth and nail to PREVENT.
Shame on you People's Magazine. You should loose many readers over this one.

I have one of these dogs that was used to breed until their uterus burst from having so many babies. Thank God, she was rescued at 8 years old after having an estimated 15 litters of puppies. These places are called puppy mills and they are equivalent to concentration camps for dogs. If People mag. had done their homework instead of plain old commercializing for the dollar bill, they would have discovered this and done an article on the discusting mills. I encourage others not to help by buying this magazine again. I sure won't.
It's obvious these people are either unaware of the pet overpopulation crisis, or just dont care. Good grief, his mom even helps him sell these innocent dogs over the internet? I'm sorry but this isnt being an entrepeneur, this sounds like being lazy and making a quick easy buck at the expense of thousands of homeless animals killed every day in our nation's shelters. People, the boy and his mom should all be ashamed.
These sought of Breeders have no code of ethic's, they answer to no one
It's all about money the more the better and if this mean's cutting corner's to save on expence's and put more money in their pocket's they do so without hesitation and without thought for the dog's in their care
People Magazine need to take a good look behind the cute little puppy face's advertised to see whats really happening before promoting such establishment's
Puppy mills must be stopped. Genetic deformities caused by these deplorable conditions are absolutely sickening. So many animals are put to sleep each day, it is sad to think that financial gain was the only reason for their existence. If you don't breed responsibly, the animals suffer as well as their human companions. Come on People Magazine, have some compassion for these defenseless creatures and present both sides of these issues.
Puppy brokering is irresponsible when done without ethics, and after visiting the site I can see that little if any research went into the breeds, their tempraments, or qualified placement. My local SPCA does a much better job. This kid might be making money, but he's breaking an awful lot of hearts - and not just of the canine variety. sw
This is utterly RIDICULOUS! For this Mom to help her son mass produce animals for profit is just SICK. It's too bad we can't implant a litter of children into her every 10 months for the next 5 years.
Peddling puppies for profit like they were some sort of commodity! Yep it happens. What’s shocking is a magazine like People promoting this sort of venture. This young man is no better than puppy broker and a junior puppy miller in the making. Please “PEOPLE” open your eyes and THINK about all of the helpless animals that are euthanized every day in this country before glorifying and encouraging somebody that is directly contributing to the problem. What a horrible message this sends to our youth in this country!!!
I was appalled after reading the article, but the web site you so graciously advertised for this miller? SICKENING! Horrible quality, sad looking, text book puppy mill puppies paid for with a credit card and shipped at 5 and 6 weeks old. Pitiful! I am sure some uneducated fools will surely be buying one of those puppies for Christmas.
People Magazine, you have successfully promoted and contributed to the misery and suffering of animals. Shame on you!
The article made me sick to my stomach. The editor of People needs to visit his/her local shelter and look into the eyes of all the dogs as they wag their tails and beg for attention. Then he needs to walk away knowing that most of them will be euthanized. How could People Magazine praise the efforts of Timothy Hampson. This young man is adding to the over population problem.
Puppy milling should be stopped and I would like to see your magazine start to educate people that this is not an entrepreneurial activity but disclose this practice for what it really is - ie an exploitation of animals.
People magazine should be ashamed for glorifying those who peddle the flesh of defenseless animals. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Please consider an article that tells the truth about puppymills and the cruelty endured by so many animals who cannot speak for themselves. Will People give them an equal voice?
every single one of these bastardized excuses for a business should be closed, the animals given to *caring* people, and the people who run these mills should be shot in the back of the head. adopt, people. adopt.
As the Mother of four teenager's I have to wonder just how long this will last since it is a fact teenagers get bored ver fast. This is wrong and no matter what you tell you *know* it's wrong
I have personally witnessed the sad but true reality of puppies produced in a mill. The sad reality was death due to devasting health. Dogs born without bladders and immune systems so bad they couldn't survive with the best medical care. Another put down at 2yrs suffering daily with incurable hip displaysia. Just to name a few. This mother and son team should suffer the same fate, worse if it were up to me. I will never buy another copy of People magazine again and will encourage everyone I know to do the same.
This is disgusting commercialism and People should not be supporting this "entrepreneur" - call him what he really is, a puppy mill breeder out to make a profit. Please run articles on rescues and people doing good work to reverse the effects of these mills instead!
Please look into the conditions in which these poor puppies are brought into this life. Their mommys and daddys are most likely living in a nasty pen with no hope for love or a kind word, just so someone can have exactly the right status puppy. Puppy mills are an atrocity we should not abide. This young man is buying from puppy mills and perpetuating this horror for his own gain.
