PEOPLE MAGAZINE
YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO PUT AN ARTICLE LIKE THIS IN YOUR MAGAZINE!! SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU!
A Loving CHOW owner...
Vicki Hochstetler
The people at this magazine needs to go to an animal shelter and see the end result of what happens to these puppy's when they grow up and are no longer cute.. The amount of dogs that are put down every day is heart breaking for those that work in shelters and pounds throughout the world, as well as those of us that are responsible pet owners.. These puppy mills dont care about the puppy's they sell, all they care about is the money they make.. please think about the poor *****es that are producing these litters sometimes one litter after another without a break.. just to make some- one easy money.. its disgusting..
Please publish an article about the autrocity of puppy mills and emphasize the wonderful work and the saving of lives of dogs in rescue who are abandoned, abused or just found homeless for the most ridiculous reasons. This would be responsible journalism - not applauding some misled, unethical teenager running a puppy mill. That's terrible that you would condone that and I for one will not be reading your magazine again unless you show the responsible side of this topic.
Being in the veterinary field for close to 20 years, I have seen more sick puppies come out of puppy mills. People pay good money for these animals. I think they are a disgrace and should be shut down.
Enterprising children should be lauded.
Enterprising children who make a buck by exploiting other living beings should be counselled.
Pl;ease, People. THINK before you praise!

I truly believe the writer of the aritcle in question should have done a better job in researching the whole question of dogs and their care and welfare.
I feel this article is well intended but not well thought out as to content. This young gentleman obviously has not visited a shelter during his research into this venture. How about doing an article in rebuttal that feature the work that rescue does to clean up the mess that puppymillers and backyard breeders leave during their route to being a money king or queen?
Have you ever seen how dogs are kept and treated in a puppy mill? Before printing this article about this young mans efforts about making money,do the research and check out a puppy mill.If you have a heart it will break to see helpless puppys being kept in such horrid conditions. One female will be bred and bred till she can not be bred any longer then disguarded like trash. There is no love or careing for the animal only dollar signs. Please before publishing this...investigate puppy mills.
I am repulsed by the "cuddlypuppy" business of Timothy Hampson. As a responsible breeder of Chinese Cresteds, hearing about how someone feels its okay to broker puppies from puppymills and backyard breeders is totally irresponsible on the part of People Magazine and of his mother for allowing him to do it.
As a responsible breeder I do things such as guarentee the health of my pupies, guarentee that if a person can no longer care for a puppy that I will take the puppy back and find it a new home, and only breed the best quality dogs that I have, screening for everything from PRA to patellas to
Does this kid do this? I doubt it. He is only in it to make money, which is the WRONG reason to get into breedng. Even if he doesn't breed himself, he is facilitating the outlet needs of people who breed MANY litters of dogs, who they also only breed to make money.
I am involved in Chinese Crested rescue, and have picked up and fostered dozens of dogs because the people who go them didn't understand the needs of my breed. Thousands of dogs are euthanized each year because no one wants them. These puppymillers and backyard breeders only ADD to the tragedy.
I expect that People Magazine will be responsible and print the response to this outragious article, and publicaly denounce their "support" for what this kid is doing, exploiting dogs. If this does not happen, I will hae purchase my LAST People magazine. I don't need to support a magazine who willing supports this kind of activity.
Praising a puppymiller no matter what age is wrong. Too many dog are dying in shelters every year. There is no concern in the proper breeding of the dogs and the pup are not trained and socalize properly which will mean more dogs in overcrowded shelter and more dogs put to death
It is a very poor idea to glamorize a money making scheme which has the processing of animals produced in puppy mill environments as the central theme of the business. Instead of complimenting this boy on his business skills, I would suggest that he make money in a method that does not depend on trafficing in dogflesh. I live in Missouri, puppymill capitol of the world, and we certainly don't need young millers to be written up as role models in your magazine. Please investigate this situation better and give the animals who suffer in puppymills equal coverage in your magazine. They are the helpless victims of this type of business.
And just how many members of your staff have ever seen what can and does happen to these animals? If you've got the stomach for it, go on a "mill bust" sometime! The smell will make you puke. Dogs in their own waste, open wounds, dirty water, if any, females so weak from breeding, they can no longer stand up and the list goes on. Check a mill bust out and then, you'll have something to write about! This is how these Internet pups end up. If these kids want to be entrepreneurs, teach them how to start and run a rescue. Oh, there is no money in rescue, only debit, begging for reduced vet fees, volunteers, foster homes, transporters and more. There is no monetary reward in rescue. The reward comes when you look into the eyes of an abused dog and their sole is thanking you. Try this and then write an article! Better yet, take Timothy Hampson with you and let him write the article. I would venture to say, it won't be about Internet entrepreneurs engaged in dog sales.
For all the wonderful uses of the WWW, the scope of its ability to encourage illegal, immoral, and cruel behavior by adults and now children is increasing exponentially. It may begin by everyone turning their heads while music, movies, and university papers are illegally downloaded/plagarized because it can be done easily and "everyone is doing it" - the universal cry of the irresponsible. Everyone knows the range of other horrors present on the WWW. Here we have an example of a child being encouraged to go for the almighty dollar at the expense of helpless animals and those individuals in the unsuspecting public who are naive enough to think that their money is well spent by purchasing animals from this and other budding charlatans. People Magazine, you should have done your homework and should be ashamed. An expose of the devastating effects of puppy mills by your magazine is in order here, not to mention an expose of how adults inadvertently or otherwise encourage unacceptable behavior in children from animal cruelty to bending laws to suit their own purposes to racism and other forms of human cruelty.
Take a look at the shelters someday and you will see what is happening. This is cruel to let this go on.There are so many homeless dogs due to these puppy mills. They use the dogs up till they cant produe puppys anymore and usually dump them afterwards then move on to the next. This is an outrage and needs to be delt with and stopped. These kind of people dont care about animals all they care about is money. It is shameful and disgusting.
I WILL NOT buy your magazine again after this! Puppy mills are discusting. Maybe you should go sit in a cage for a week & see how it feels!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is outrageous for such an excellent magazine to promote puppy mills that are selling pups whose mothers are kept in wire cages without any life at all except being bred continually every heat.
One thing this world most definitely does not need is more pets. If somebody wants to adopt an animal, they should go to their local humane society where many dogs (and other animals) sit on death row hoping that somebody will come and love them.
I was so disappointed to see People doesn't understand the plight of homeless animals by highlighting a teenager's financial gain in running a puppy mill. I will no longer purchase People.
These people are not fit to be called human beings and should not be allowed anywhere near animals let alone trying to sell them, they should be ashamed of themselves for profiting out of this attrocious situation.
Promoting puppy mills in such a usually responsible magazine is reprehensible. And advertising special hybrid puppies is beyond belief especially with all the dogs in shelters in need of homes right now.
It is apparent that People Magazine needs educating in the horrors of puppymills. To give such high profile praise to one who is involved in such dealings is just disgusting. People magazine needs to put effort into the real story of puppymills and support the end of this type of abuse. It is now time for the true story to be put to the public and it is your responsibility to do so. SHAME ON YOU!
Please do not condone selling puppies in this manner. These puppies are not taken care of properly. There is no regard for the puppy, just for the dollar. Please help put a stop to this.
While I am all for the entrepreneurial spirit -this is a disgrace. Thousands upon thousands of animals are euthanized every year in the country. If you must have a pet, go to your shelter first. If that pet must be a purebred dog or cat, do your research and find a reputable breeder.
This is just puppy mills that have begun using the internet for business. There must be close supervision of who gets each dog. Without careful review of potential owners we will end up with more unwanted dgos once they have grown up and are no longer puppy-cute. We can't handle all the unwanted dogs as it is. cuddlypuppy.com will only perpetuate this problem. People magazine should know better than to call this successful. It's a recipe for disaster for many dogs.
You should be totally ashamed of yourselves for promoting a glorified Puppy Mill, you obviously didn't spare even a minute to stop & think where the hell some of these poor creatures will end up. Perhaps from all the sales of this issue you would like to make a generous donation to some of the Rescue Societies that will be left picking up the peices.....No? I didnt think so.
