Your magazine needs to place an article in it that will educate the public regarding puppymills and rescue dogs -- not one that congratulates exploitation of helpless animals so that one can be enrished thereby!
It was wrong to encourage and reward this particular entrepreneur without offering a suggestion to look for anything else BUT small defenseless animals to extort for his first venture into his merchant career.
I understand wanting to be an entrepreneur; however this is not right. These animals are breed improperly and in horrid conditions. Not to mention the millions of dogs and cats that are killed each year because they are unwanted. This kid and his family should be ashamed of themselves!
With millions of animals being killed annually in our shelters nationwide please take a responsible position and expose the horror of puppy millers. When we as an "enlightened" civilization stop murdering our companion animals then hopefully there will be no need for us involved in rescue. The article about Teen Titans, specifically Timothy Hampson sends the wrong message. While there are responsible breeders out there far, far too many that are not and animals suffer and die because of it.
What do they think we are dealing with , cuddly toys ? ! No - these unfortunate animals are bred in the most horrid conditions as it is, only to be bought up and sold over the internet ! ! ! What kind of a cold and cruel society are we to allow this kind of ' farming ' of ' man's best friend !? I am surprised that People Magazine has given this the time of day ! They should be ashamed, better yet I hope they will be encouraged to do a proper story about puppy mill farming and the truthful fate of these unfortunate dogs !
The number of dogs killed EVERY day in the U.S. is staggering. Promoting any kind of dog breeding is irresponsible. Countless lives are lost because of people like this "entrepreneur". An article informing the public about puppy mills and the dog overpopulation problem would be more responsible.
These puppies are living, breathing, feeling creatures. Great care should be taken to place them in appropriate homes. Breeders that truly care about their dogs know that this is NOT a profitable enterprise, but done out of passion for maintaining and improving the breed.
This kid needs to look at selling something else!
There are enough homeless pets out there that are euthanized each day. There is no need to sell puppies in stores, or even worse, over the internet. Please stop this webiste now.
With so many animals dying in shelters and on the streets these days maybe People Magazine should highlight kids who are doing something to help animals not hurt them. This BRAT deserves to be walked through a shelter and taken to the kill room and shown what happens to the pups he sells with out caring where they go. Just another reason why Puppymills need to be made illegal!
I can't believe this magazine would praise an individual for toying with these poor dogs lives. Being an animal lover, this has definitely made my decision not to buy this magazine ever again. Just think of the horrid situation he will create in yet another puppymll as he gets older and feeds on his heartless success!
stop promoting the sale of puppies thru people who have puppy mills anddo these not for the love of a breed but for the love of the grren (money) its disgusting the treatment these dogs get if someone did this with people they would be hunted down and thrown into jail and left there to rot animals are living breathing creatures that deserve so much better
Instead of promoting a teenager who is continuing the NIGHTMARE of puppymilling to "MAKE A BUCK"!....why don't you write about those who take the TIME AND EFFORT to SAVE & PLACE "throwaways" rescues, whose plight is death if not adopted! So many of these are "spontaneous" unscreened purchases, who very quickly become "YESTERDAYS' "TOY"
How sad, disgraceful and above all inhumane. I hope everyone involved in glorifying this abuse of living things will be enlightened and write an article detailing the lives of these puppies and thier parents.
Both People Magazine and its readers need to be educated. Please run a story about animal rescue and puppy mills. There are all kinds of sources out there.
I could not believe that a puppy mill was being promoted by People Magazine. I was disgusted and am thrilled to see this petition. People magazine shame on you. It doesn't take a "teen titan" to overbreed dogs!
I would invite the editor to visit a puppymill. See the diplorable conditions live the life the pet lives, walk on welded wire cloth (as they call it)be cramped in an 18 x 18 sized wood platform being a cocker spaniel with 6 to 8 puppies. Oh yes, live the life walk in the stools be bred as if you where in a concentration camp for sex. Not given any rest as a brood *****. Just bred every heat to earn your keep. Only handled and told to move out of the way so we can look at the babies. Just so that the casj register can continue to ring. Little or no socialization for the puppies.
We can not critisize the shelters for the job they have. We need to protect the unborn pets! With the economy at present many families are placeing their pets up for adoption thru shelters and rescue groups, this is not the pets fault. When we purchase a pet it should be for keeps and not for leaps because it is the pet of the month or the day.
Most shelters oppetate on the no kill method. This "Really Means" NO KILL OF ADOPTABLE PETS !Explaination: temperment, age, and health and in some instances bred placement success.
This young man should look at all the hard work thay HE is putting the family through and say if one of them gets sick can I do their job as well as my job. Will they pets be given the correct care itc. And as a simple matter are these people licensed to do this, does the Department of Agriculture know what is going on? Will helath papers follow ALL pets to their new destination showing ALL medical treatments by a state licensed Veterinarian? And not medication just givin by the 16 year old young boy.
ANY person can breed their pet, but it takes a professional breeder to do the correct job. Select the sire and the dam check for ANY AND ALL GENENIC health conditions and spay or neuter when there are heath issues that can be passed on! All for the love of money health issues can reall rip up a family that loves their pet. We as humane get sick but we for so
My wife and I have two Australian Shepherds that were rescue dogs. One was from a puppy mill that left him in a kennel by himself for a year because he was "mis-marked". These unscrupulous breeders do not need to be publicized as entrepreneurs.
I cannot believe People Magazine is honoring a buisness that uses puppymills. Are the editors unaware of all the conditions suffered by the dogs at these facilities? Please consider our petition, People and its readers need to be informed.
Please think about educating the public that obtaining a dog from a reputable breeder is a better choice. Breed rescues end up dealing with many of the puppy mill dogs after they get dumped. Also the making of new breeds like labradoodles - AKA - mixed breed for profit bothers me that the public would pay such money for these designer dogs, which in reality would have just been given free to good homes.
Another low in so called journalism. Who decided this was a good thing to encourage in our youth? Intentionally corrupting a breed of dog and selling this poor animal to anyone that is ignorant enough to buy? Obviously ignorance is rampant because SOMEONE chose to publish this PUPPYMILL crap.
Not to mention the inhumane treatment of the poor breeder animals.
Check this business out, up close and PERSONAL
I am a Veterinary professional and these is a disgrace. These dogs are not meant to be bred so small and this young man - I use that term loosly is not thinking in thier best interest. He should not be featured.
It's magazines like this with wide-spread appeal who make the unknowing public think this is something to support. People should understand why pet stores are bad and not promote them.
You are in a unique position to educated the public about the horrors of puppy mills & the hard job that rescue is faced with. I think many readers would be interested in knowing the facts about what many animals face.
There are already so many puppy mills that concerned animal lovers are trying to shut down. How can you put this in your magazine like it is the right thing to do. There really needs to be an article - and not some small thing - about the problems with puppy mills and what it does to these poor dogs and the conditions. If you really saw some of these pictures, you would not be promoting this!
I am the owner of a puppy who was rescued from a puppy mill. She came to me so ill that she barely escaped death. If you insist on publishing the "Teen Titans" article, I implore you to balance it with an article on the death and destruction caused by the puppy mills who supply Timothy Hampson with his 'inventory'.
WOW!!you have hit rock bottom, you rag!!!
Want ridiculous?? Have Timmy become a young prostitute at a prison for money, have his mother join him& include your whole staff-for you are are total whores
I guess you think trash sells, well this with be a good story for you then!!!!!!!!!!
Being ionvolved in rescue I have to take care of the poor animals people like this jerk Timmy and his whore mother have made money on
You should shut down your magazine and give us all a break,YOU WHORES
I don't think I need to say any more but what the petition wording says, but I am saddened by the vast amount of people that think it's "great" that people think to sell helpless animals to the highest bidder becuase it shows their "business talent". If they were selling babies it would be appalling, why is this different?!
