people magazine should be capable of finding better teen than this featured one.the magazine are directly endorsing youung entrepreneurs to juz go out and be 'entreprizing' without considering social and moral issues which result directly from the business?is the magazine endorsing widespread puppymills when they should instead feature the rescue people who are trying to better our society by helping realise the problem of animal overpopulation due to human exploitation of the animal's breeding capability?this teen probably is not aware of the seriousness of undertakings and the people magazine is making a hero out of him?what happen to the brain behind this magazine?what happen to the true entrepreneurship spirit?or you dun care anymore about the quality of your articles and the readers who have long supported this magazine.....this is a HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT !!
Business is business, ain't it. Even when it involves selling off "man's best friend" that has been cruelly raised in inhumane conditions to people who will probably value them for a couple years than throw them away.
This makes me sick to my stomach.
To PEOPLE Magazine...Via the internet, thousands of people are reading about your irresponsible coverage of a "story" that does not deserve to be written in a positive light. Thousands of people have decided NOT to ever buy your magazine...unless you do the responsible thing and RESEARCH the entire story, then present the facts on animal overpopulation in this country. Your editors will find that glorifying one teens extremely misguided attempts at making a profit off the backs of animals was not indeed a success story worthy of printing. You will all instead learn of the millions of wonderful, loving animals, many purebred, that are being put to death every single day in this country because of people like your featured "Teen Titan". Do yourselves, your readers, impressionable teens, greedy adults and most importantly the unwanted animals a huge favor. Educate yourselves, admit your enormous mistake in running this story, then do a follow-up story on true Teen Titans, the ones who already know the facts and are working to do something positive for this country and the suffering and dying creatures in it. You will then have a magazine worthy of buying and reading. Til then you are just yet another piece of fluff, promoting greed and commercialism ahead of everything else, and many people want more than that from the magazines they buy with their hard earned dollars. Thousands of us, the educated, buying public, have big voices and word of mouth is a powerful tool. Thousands of us are spreading the word about this "story". Do you really want to ignore this serious issue and take the chance of losing all that potential business?? After all, if it's only profits that matter, you need to think about the effects this ill-prepared story of yours will have on your bottom line.
This is inhumane and needs to be stopped. How can you just buy your pup over the internet and not meet it first. I completely disagree with what is going on!
Your ignorance is astounding. To perpetuate puppy mills when so many are killed each year as a result of these horrifying establishments is unconscionable.
He's a disgrace to the human populace. These animals have no one to trust and no voice, and he intends to capitalize on it. I hope he never marries and germinates the gene pool.
My first thought is aobut who takes responsibility if the dog or 'cuddlypuppy' doesn't work out? Will Timothy take the dog into his home and care for him/her until a new owner is found. Reputable breeders do this, and they also guarantee the health of the dogs they breed, as well as participate in a breed health registries and research projects.
After reading the article, I went to the website. After looking at every page he had, I was disgusted. this kid is running a Puppy mill. Apparently the author doesn't know much about the breeding of dogs. One section was titled "Special Hybrid Puppies". What the Heck is a Hybrid Puppy? From what I saw it was mixed breeds. like Poodles and Pugs mixed to make a puggle. And the "new Puppies added daily" written at the bottom of the page? how many Puppies is this boy producing each day? People Magazine should be ashamed of themselves. the author and the Magazine staff should spend a day at an animal shelter to help take care of the animals and watch as they have to put one of the millions of dogs to sleep. This article also needs to be followed up with an article educating people about puppy mills. The boy and his mother needs to be educated about puppy mills too.
The number of abandoned pets in this country is as tragic as it is unnecessary. People need to be educated about the the proper ways of adding a pet to their home -- pets should not be impulse buys, but instead should be well-researched and thoughtfully considered. And once the decision is made as to the best type of pet for a person or family, that pet should be purchased from a reputable breeder, or gotten from a reputable shelter or other rescue organization. Not from a puppy mill.

I know people will do anything they can at anyone's expense to make a dollar, but I am still surprised when something like this happens. Timothy should be ashamed of himself. He should start a website promoting adoption of animals from shelters.
There was a Pom. Puppymill raided in MI and the "breeder" animals we so badly treated and abused. PEOPLE should in all fairness, do an article on Puppymills and encourage people to adopt abandoned and homeless pets! I am sicken by this!
People Magazine - you should be ashamed of yourself! What were you thinking in writing an article on a backyard breeder. Try researching puppymills and see what you come up with.
With so many dogs in shelters waiting for homes (that may never come), it is appaling that a magazine would glorify a person making money by contributing to an already tragic problem.
I can't believe that People magazine, a supposedly reputable magazine, would allow puppymills to be promoted in their magazine. This kid and his mother are making a lot of money by exploiting innocent animals.
I was very suprised & Appauld that People Magazine would condone such a person(no matter what his age is). Any one, even an animal should be treated with respect & care. I didn't know that People magazine condoned such acts of cruelty.
The promotion of this teenager’s website by your magazine which clearly exploits innocent animals for profit is atrocious. I would hope that you attempt to redeem your magazine by apologizing for including him, and demonstrate some remorse by including articles in the future that educate your audience on the horrors of puppy mills and backyard breeders, and inform potential pet owners of the joy in rescuing one or more of the millions of unwanted pets in shelters, rescue leagues and other sources.
You, as journalists, must become aware fo the underlying societal issues involved in this trade. You are very responsible in coupling animal issues with the celebrities you cover and this is a noticable lapse.
A little education goes a long way People Magazine. Befire you print a story such as this it may be a good idea to do some research into EVERY side of a story!
This type of operation in my mind is strictly a "puppy mill" operation. I am appalled that People Magazine would promote such practices. Maybe People Magazine SHOULD write on article on the "puppy mill" industry and HOW consumers should actually look into buying animals from consciencious breeders and breeder clubs to discourage these "puppy mill" industries.
If these poor puppies are so great, and raised in such wonderful conditions (as per website) why can't the so called "breeders" sell the puppies themselves.....?
This is disgusting, People magazine is no better than humans who prey/torture innocent animals in the name of "breeders" Gives me pause as to whether I should renew my subscription
Too bad ethics did not come into play when deciding who should be noted for this article. Someone who acts as a middle man for puppy mills is nothing more than a broker of risky goods. Ethical breeders wouldn't give this kid the time of day.
This boy is still young and someone should fill him in on the fight AGAINST puppy millers rather than praise him for his "novel idea" to let two dogs mate and sell them over the web!
Please view some of the puppymillers I have rescued at carolinacockers.org
Carolina Cockers Rescue has found homes for over 2000 rescued cocker spaniels in the past 4 years. Half of them were born in puppymills. Please stop this!!!!
