I am horrified at the lack of professionalism and responsibility people magazine is showing. So many people dedicate their lives to rescuing stray and unwanted aminals and by promoting puppy mills People is undermining those efforts. It's bad enough there even has to be rescue organizations, but promoting poor breeding and inhumane conditions is unconscionable!
This is disgusting and unfair to the animals that are being sold like this. I adopted a puppy at a shelter in my state back in Feb of this year and I enjoyed the experience of going to look at the puppies that were available and chosing the one that I thought was a good fit for my family. How can a person do that via the internet especially when its done by auction? This is short of auctioning off people and children next... This is unacceptable... And as for the puppy mills don't get me started... They are a disgrace... to start...
I am outraged by your article extoling as a Teen Titan a young man who operates a puppy-mill and advertises is "merchandise" for sale on the web. It is unconscionable that People magazine would run such an article in view of the millions of animals that are put to death every year in shelters. Mitigate your grevious error and run an article showing the truth about puppy mills and their low-life operators who profiteer from the suffering of helpless animals.
I won't buy another people until you print an article informing people with the PROBLEMS with puppy mills. I work with the Pug rescue...we are working to try and fix the problems these people create!!! www.kentuckianapugs.com
It is a sickness in this country that makes us believe we have a right to obtain whatever we want, when we want it and once we've grown tired of it, we throw it out. Puppy mills exploit this buying impulse (i.e. 'get a puppy for Christmas) with no consideration to the poor animals ending up in homes where owners are uneducated and unwilling to learn. These puppies end up in shelters. Their mothers, forced to breed at unnatural rates in extreme conditions without care, are a tragedy to behold. Please do your part to educate the public about this dehumanizing travesty.
I think we should have Federal mandated laws like counties within Europe, mainly likfe Germany, you dont find thses problems. These countried may breed the dog , but they have very strict rules that do not allow them to breed an unproven, or unworthy animal as well the dog must prove its worthiness by law.Its sad o see this, I have one litter in 17 years and I know where everyone of them is! As well have contracts signed that say if this pup cannot be cared for it HAS to come back to me, or I assist in the finding a hoke for it, buit not once has this happened.
I encourage this young man to be an entrepreneur, but not in this way. There are plenty of legitimate ways to make a living in the dog business without supporting puppy mills.
Puppymills as well as other irresponsible breeders need to be stopped. The health of their animals is questionable to say the least. The care they use to provide properly matched breedings is non-existent.
Why would a story like this be run in a national magazine???or any magazine for that matter. Maybe an article on the state of affairs of the dogs in this country should be run...it is not a pretty story but one that needs to be told to increase awareness.
PLEASE PUT AN ARTICLE IN YOUR MAGAZINE ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH PUPPY MILLS. THERE IS AN OVER ABUNDANCE OF UNWANTED ANIMALS, AND THIS HAS TO GET OUT THAT YOU CANT MAKE MONEY ON A LIVING BREATHING THING AND NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT... WE URGE YOU AS THE AMOUNTS OF ANIMAL ABUSE IS ON THE RISE, ESPECIALLY IN YOURGER AGES. THANK YOU
I won't buy another "People" magazine until to print something about the number of homeless animals in shelters, many because of puppy mills such as the one in your recent article regarding cuddlypuppy.com. Teen Titan should volunteer for one of these shelters to see what is really happening!
This article is really saddening. With all the animals in kill shelters that only want to please and be loved you are promoting a puppymill operation! Rescue organizations work hard for these animals, many of them sick or ailing, that puppymills care less about. They do it on donations and fundraisers. Many times the only money that is available is from their own pockets. It's time that the public becomes more aware of the good rescue centers provide for the betterment of these animals and less focus on the puppymills that focus on the money!
I hope you will consider to do an article on these groups and the good they provide all over this country as you have exploiting the mills.
I have spent 6 years in animal rescue. Due to irresponsible owners which are cultivated by businesses such as this one, volunteers in my organization are run ragged attempting to save dogs bought on a whim only to be discarded later. Many of them now have behavioral issues fostered by neglect or inept handling, which make placement even more difficult. The lucky animals make it to our organization where overworked & unpaid volunteers do everything in their power to find amenable homes for them. We can only imagine what happens to the less fortunate ones. Please be aware of the heinous consequences for many of God’s creatures propagated by ventures such as this one.

Selling living creatures to unknown conditions is not a business someone should be proud of. This young man seems creative enough to think of another way he can make money. Why not try helping animals instead of taking advantage of them?
Dateline, the TV program, did an expose on puppymills not long ago. I request People Magazine show the other side of the coin -- the misery of the dogs forced to live in tiny cages and breed until they can breed no more, then are either killed or dumped so younger breeders can take their place.
Truly cruel. No one in their right mind should purchase "any" type of animal in this manner...both the purchaser and the business owner should be ashamed of themselves!
Stunned...Disheartened... Sickened. I will never subscribe, purchase, or read this magazine again. I will be certain to tell everyone I know about this young "entrepeneur" and People's support of his money making activities.
The "entrepreneur" behind cuddlypuppy.com should be given a lesson in what happens to these pets after they are sold, and he should work in animal shelters and see all the fine animals that are euthanized because no-one wants them.
Please don't glorify the careless breeding of dogs and the irresponsible homing of them through the internet. Articles like the one you published about cuddlepuppy.com show that you must be a supporter of puppy mills. I will no longer read your magazine until you publish a retraction.
Having served on the board of our local animal control I am very aware of what happens to many of these dogs sold by profiteers. This is a real back mark against your magazine. I hope you will do a follow up article to show the other side of this issue.
Please take the opportunity to educate people about the horrors of puppy mills and indiscriminate breeding. This young entrepreneur needs to be corrected, not applauded.
All puppies are cute! But puppy mills produce life long problems and unwanted dogs! It was irresponsible to print the story "Teen Titans" as it will encourage more of the same. You have an obligation to neutralize this with some swift, strong education. Do the public a favor and print an article based on rescue and responsible breeding. Encourage the young to get into dog showing, wich is the proper proving ground for breeding!
Why anyone would glorify this type of inhumanity is beyond me. People Magazine, you obviously have no idea of what you are promoting or this article would not exist.
Do You Know What Pet Population is?
Have you ever witnessed euthanasia?
You Timothy Hampson and every other puppy miller are responsible for contributing to the haulocaust of these innocent puppies. You will probably ignore this message, and simply apply the denial escape from the reality of this message. You are committing a moral crime. You can call it religion or karma, however you will be in line on judgement day. Sometimes our punishment is suffered here on earth as well as after life. Maybe not today, but it will come.
As a subcriber to PEOPLE...I hope you will not endorse this type of business again. Entrpreneurs such as this young man are one of the reasons animal shelters and foster homes are overflowing with unwanted pets. Please help us educate the public rather than endorse these practices.
Every day I see strays wandering around in my neighborhood unwanted. These dogs are starving, some are sick, some get hit by cars and trucks on the road. Dogs should not be massed produced or considered to be a money making business.
You would not do this to a child why do it to a tame animal.
I can't believe that a magazing as big as People could be so ignorant as to publish a story regarding Puppy Mills, come on now you guys knew what you were doing, I won't buy your magazine anymore if this type of thing is to be continued. After all, don't magazines do background research before they print a story, what went wrong here or did you just think you would get away with it???Puppy mills are wrong and that is all there is to it!!!!
Animal Cruelty is what happens when ignorance becomes lunacy. Remember, that has human beings we are the ones responsible for taking care of this planet, and all the creatures great and small.
