This petition is to stop the banning of expressing ourselves through hair. We are asking to be able to wear our hair in colors such as purple, blue, green, etc., in school. It is a means of expressing ourselves, and we feel as if we are entitled to that, since other numerous states allow it. All we are asking for is to freely express our feelings, and according to the Constitution, we are allowed to freely express our thoughts, verbally and physically. For example, having your hair dyed pink shouldn't interfere with learning, if that's the so-called problem. If you're going to get rid of distractions, then you should get rid of mouths, hands, feet, and paper, since class interruptions are usually caused by such. All we are asking for is a way of expressing ourselves, and our way is to have colored hair.

I do not have any sort of policy like this at my school, so I go crazy with color, but I used to go to a private school that was very strict about hair length and style. I completely support this petition!! ^^

I support this. My whole head is atomic pink and every loves it. as long as it's not TOO distracting you should be able to have your hair however you want! It's a way of expressing yourself and isn't that what they teach us in school? Is to express ourselves?

i believe that we should be able to have our hair anyway that we want. i do not think it is as much of distraction as they say. it is only a distraction because not that many people have seen it so they are amazed by it.

All we want to do is to show our individuality.

My girlfriend has her hair dyed magenta on a little part of her hair. If you think hair distracts from learning then there is something wrong. Last semester she was 1 point away from making straight A's. If i see someone whose hair is out of the norm i might look at it and say wow thats cool but thats it, it isnt going to distract me any from school.

I think that hair color is an expression of yourself. Why should we pretend to be someone we're not just so schools are happy. What does it really effect in a schooling system? We're there to learn, not to be judged.
