To the CBC. I commend you on your clever programming. Now I can listen to pop music without the ads on CBC knowing that it's all paid for by taxpayers. However, when I want to give my ears a rest and give my brain something to think about I no longer have CBC to turn to. How clever. I guess it was just too much to ask of you guys - Hurray, now we can be like the Americans - wherre you can go from one coast to another without ever hearing a single violin or intelligent interview. Good work ; makes me proud to be a Canadian.

Why does everything have to be targeted at a youth demographic? What about the CBC remaining as something that you grow into -when your taste for something other than 'radio fast food' finally matures?
1. I support this petition.
2. Additionally, these "new Programs are terrible-"cutesie", rambling, phoney- sounding concoctions.
I do concede that they may provide distraction in commercial venues like: washrooms, under the dentist's drill sedated & strapped into her chair or under the hairdresser's dryer on high.
The CBC cannot compete with commercial radio. The CBC exists to bring Canadians together with stories of and interviews with fascinating contributors to our national culture. I listen to the CBC to enrich my mind, not for Top 40 or Muzak sonic wallpaper.
I support this petition. We have too much poor quality radio and TV which follows American standards rather than our own Canadian way of life. Let's get the CBC back to being Canada first with good programming.
I support this petition. We can hear popular music on any station at any time - please play more Canadian content and celebrate our immense Canadian talent.
I support this petition wholeheartedly. The CBC used to be an oasis for thinking people in the desert of mindless commercial radio - let's revive the oasis and in time the young will come there too.
I support this petition. I am turning off Radio 1 more and more often. People grow into the CBC and if the CBCB is lusting after younger listeners this mindless twaddle will turn them off too.
In a sea of mindless mainstream radio, the CBC has been an oasis for great Canadian music and intelligent dialogue. I keep tuning in because I learn more about my country each time I do. Please keep the Canadian content in the CBC.
I support this petition 100%.
The CBC, whom I have
steadfastly supported, greatly respected, and thoroughly enjoyed for countless years, has delivered the insult to beat all insults to myself and, evidently, a great many other loyal listeners sharing this view.
Congratulations CBC.
I'll be on my way...
I support this petition. Being a publically owned entity, CBC should not be in direct competition with anybody. CBC needs to support: up-and-comming, independent, young, alternative artisits.
I support this petition. The CBC seems to think by dumbing itself down, it will dumb down its audience, creating a wonderful zombie listenership, devoted to mediocrity.
I support this petition. Publically funded broadcasting will not attract new, younger listeners by merely emulating the tabloid-as-radio formats of commercial stations. Why do they seem to think that intelligent discussion or challenging music makes people tune out? Isn't the role of being an educator part of the reason for public broadcasting in the first place?
I support this petition. And does anyone in the CBC administration understand how infuriating it is every hour to have to listen to the fatuous twaddle of Promo Girl with her nasal quack of a voice?
I support this petition 100%. I used to enjoy listening to Outfront at 11:45 am (it's great!) but now there's this national playlist garbage which I find to be extremely annoying and WILL NOT LISTEN TO!!! Unfortunately, I am never able to catch Outfront at it's new time. Switch it back!
CBC doesn't need to promote top 40 music that you can get on EVERY other radio station out there! We should be able to have some choice in what we want to listen to.
As is said in the CBC/Radio Canada mandate, CBC radio should contribute to a shared national consciousness and identity. The top 40 pop songs have little to do with accomplishing this. CBC radio, as a government organization, should be used to promote Canadian content and to create public awareness about Canadian artists and their accomplishments, which would thus foster a national consciousness and allow for the flow and exchange of culutural expression. CBC must be accountable to the needs and desires of the Canadian public.
I support this petition. While pop music is a part of the Canadian culture the cbc should reflect for us,it should do so in a critical and reflective manner
I support this petition.
I object to the CBC playing pop music as well as european classical music. If the CBC wishes to play classical music then they should play Canadian and contemporary music as Canada is a contemporary country.
