I support this petition. CBC should be working to be distinctive, not blend in with the other pap... especially now that there is a 100 channel satellite radio universe.
I support this petition. Furthermore, I think that the top brass who profited from the outrageous lockout should be fired (and return our taxdollars that went into THEIR pockets.
There are three stations to which I listen in Toronto. One is for traffic and weather only. I listen to the other two because they DO NOT PLAY POP MUSIC and there is little repetition.
I (we) pay for this station with tax dollars which provides programming with NO COMMERCIALS and (almost) NO REPETITION.
I want to be informed. I want my mind to be stimulated. I want to hear and learn about "different" and "new". If I want to go mindless, I can choose to listen to one of the commercial stations. Please be certain that if the CBC goes the pop music route, I can guarantee you that this (current) listener will be listening elsewhere.
Independently produced music is what I enjoy listening to. Please support independent Canadian artists and satisfy discerning listeners by stopping the pop!
CBC Radio I has become the soundtrack for my life. I hate the "dumbing down" that has happened in the afternoons. There is no Canadian or intelligent content since the changes were instituted. Get smart!!
In the past, CBC has supported and promoted local and national talent. This is where CBC's mandate lies, not in playing more of the dreary dirges of Elton John.
The CBC should support and represent Canadian arts and culture, rather than transforming itself into yet another faceless and placeless commercial radio source. The airwaves are already saturated with this monotony. CBC should provide a real alternative.
I'll support any petition against playing Madonna and Elton John.
Seriously, if the CBC decides it should be playing more popular music it should follow the lead of Triple J (Australia's state owned radio station) and promote home grown talent that doesn't get a lot of airplay on mainstream commercial radio.
CBC is the best alternative to commercial radio there is; please keep it that way (and, as someone else has said, the correct spelling is "commercialisatio n").
I support this petition.
The CBC has always been unique in its programming, making it a breath of fresh air in very polluted environment. Why ruin a good thing?
I support this petition. Radio One has become completely boring and indistinguishable from any old private radio station, playing washed up American stars.
I support this petition.
I do not fear change - just bad taste. I want a CBC with a strong Canadian identity - not a watered-down bad pop radio station. Canada is vibrant and bold...I just wish CBC could see that and return to its previous programing.
I support this petition. Why would the CBC choose to take on a format that other companies and networks have done for decades, and better, while moving away from what they do well?
I am one example of a listener who did not grow up listening to CBC but was instead converted in my early twenties. Then, as now, I was looking for radio some substance and not just some pop beat in the background. In my opinion, the programming of CBC has become mainstream enough and already fledgling Canadian artists are being pushed aside for a common (and I suspect a cheaper) programming model.
CBC is the only national voice for Canada and I hope that, in the struggle for balanced books and mass audience appeal, the cultural gems of Canada, are not left out in the cold.
I support this petition.

I support this petition. The CBC Radio has always been a safe haven for GOOD music (spell classical). Move away from that position and you lose a listner in me.
It's on all the other stations and making money. How about a little more reverance for the music that will actually still be around a hundred years from now?
I support this petition. I do however think the music of Elton John should not be used as an example of undesirable music. He is a genius. Use Madonna or Britney Spears instead and leave Elton out of this.
