I'm a former special education student as the first autistic
student in the Chicago Public School system on January 9, 1984 at Le Moyne
Elementary School.
I was disappointed last Summer at the $26.5 million budget deficit in
special education.
I hope the Board don't have to make any more cuts this year.
I also signing this petition against the Board closing Le Moyne Elementary
School, near Wrigley Field in Lakeview.
I don't want to see my history being erased, because I'm
also the first former autistic student to go to a four-year college; first
former autistic student to testify at the Board of Education meeting about
autism last summer; against the Budget cuts; Writing a letter to Arne
Duncan about my success in CPS autistic programs and learning disability
programs before I graduated from high school and went to college. He and
Dr. Renee Grant Mitchell was very impressed about my struggles with
aperger's symptom of autism to excel academically to go to college
and doing even better.
I may be the first former CPS autistic student to graduate from college.
I hope the Board don't have to close Le Moyne school, whose
enrollment include 33 to 44 percent of students with autism.
Le Moyne was the premier autistic program in the CPS system.
In 2005 the Board voted to close the Early Childhood autistic program,
discontinued accepting new students and moved the Inter-American magnet
program into the Le Moyne.
I praying to God that Duncan doesn't be forced to make this
decision. |

Since one of the ideas is to split strings not into words, but hopefully
into phrases more semantically informative than the words they are made of,
doing that better should mean better suggestions, and avoiding what
essentially are word n-tuples should make for smaller data and slightly
faster querying. |

I got the same tramadol attack... well, not the same, because it was only
about 20 comments instead of 90, and i t have any filtering set up, and I
just deleted them one at a time... hmm.. the only thing really in common
was that it was about tramadol... what filter do you have set up that
caught them all? |

I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me
to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right
spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments
loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful.
Thanks! |

yes of course. i was in a special ED, and i hated the teachers (well not
all).i left in yr 9 to mainstream. Every year it gets worse. now i just
finish school (completed HSC in 2006).
i could have done better without the special ed. why do i have to wait for
the dumb pple to catch up with me and why the teachers act so not normal to
me. Im not suppose to be in the special ed but why do i have to move there?
i have no disabily or anything. i was placed in the special ed in yr1 to yr
9.
High school specail ed was the worst, its like u have to repeat everything
from the start. Even when i was yr 3 and 4, they have more challenging
questions than in high school. In high sschool, i have to WAIT for the
dummies.
Special ED. ruin my life, why i cant live normal like every other
students? Why i cant be treated equally? why are the students dont acccept
me even if im already out of the special ed? Why do i have to miss out the
mainstream lessons? Why do i have to be behind? I want to study in
university to do teaching and become a teacher.
If i was to become a teacher, i would help the student out of the special
ed.

I don't live in Chicago, but I agree with Mr. Ocampo's
statements. My sister is a Special Education student, so I know what kind
of care is needed to help them. Budget cuts are not the way to help these
kids. |

am currently the chairperson for no child left behind - parent advisory

very important teachers. |

because education for everyone is the bedrock of a strong and well balanced
society and it should be the number one priority for children and adults
who had a bad upringing. Disabled or challenged individuals need all the
help they can get to keep them from failing in life. I believe that no one
with a learning or physical disability should be left behind because it
reflects on this country's moral and legal roots. Children and
adults with learning disabilities that are not supported by the legal and
educational system would, most likely end up in the streets committitng
illegal acts or just not being an asset to society. Cutting on educational
benefits is counter productive to this nation's goals of being the
bedrock for freedom and equality and a hindrance to a progressive and
positive society! Let America be STRONG FOREVER! Fund the Education
Program! |

America is losing ground in the international race to countries who spend
on education. India and China produce more than 10 times the amount of
engineers annually than the U.S. The upcoming years will show the error of
our ways should we as a country continue to cut educational spending. And
that goes for all areas, ESPECIALLY SPECIAL EDUCATION. |

I most ardently support this petition since I am deaf myself and had to
utilize interpreters for the most part of my life in classrooms. I have
learned tremendously as a result of having that very service funded and
available to me through the state. Please keep this service funded for the
deaf and hard of hearing as well as other services the handicapped
population so they can live their lives to their fullest potential. Thank
you very much! |

Students with disabilities need appropriate services and supports. If you
want to save money, look to spending your money better by ending
segregation by disability, paternalism and falsly low expectations for
students with disabilities. |

It is really ashame that CPS plan to cut 26 million dollars from special
education or disability service and Deaf education programs or services.
CPS still have violated civil rights and americans disabilities w/ actss
(ADA) as well as unequal education.
I have not been surprised how CPS or political society fail to see what
deaf and disabled students' needs.. therefore, they deny under the
ada law.
B/C I had experience to be part ofdeaf comunity or society to be
dehumanized or disdained since I graduated from whitney m. young Magnet
H.S.in 1976.
Do you realized how you treat disabilities & Deaf piople w. no better
future? No wpnder over 95% of student dont desrve any opportunity for
better jobs andlives.
Is it regarding worthy to respect deaf & disabilities? Are we human
being to live for educating the world? Why throwing away 26 million
dollars? therefore you, cps board members, throw deaf and disabled people
away from better chances to live.
You lack of understanding of our strife and stigma in the society.
I suppost this petition b/c of their failure of values and resoucesful
educational needs for them.
where is 21st century?
Shame on you! cps.

Independence and productive citizenry begin with a good education. These
cuts would be devastating to an already underrepresented and socially
oppressed group. Chicago should be a model of access, and these cuts would
surely be a giant step backward. |
