5 Jun 2006 - 20:09    Kathy Hoell : All kids are entitled to a free and appropriate education, that includes kids with ALL disabilities. People with disabilities make up 20% of the population, thus making them the largest minority in the US. Why aren't they entitled to educational opportunities just like everyone else?

5 Jun 2006 - 20:35    Jeanine Gavagan : because the quality of education must not deteriorate for our students, no matter where they live, and because gains in public education for children with disabilities are recent. Progress in educational opportunity must not be stopped by lack of funding to those who need it most.
5 Jun 2006 - 20:38    Krista Erickson : All students with disabilities have a right to a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. As a person with a disability who has personally benefited from IDEA, I support this petition.

5 Jun 2006 - 20:44    Beth Burrows : All children deserve a good education and our society needs to assure itself of a well-educated population. The City of Chicago has prided itself on its leadership in so many areas; it is astonishing to think that the City would even consider failing to adequately provide for the education of any of its children. Chicago has always been a vibrant, can-do metropolis, with its eyes on the future; I am certain it will find the will and the money to rescind the proposed budget cuts and honor its responsibilities to its future citizens.
5 Jun 2006 - 20:44    Katie Madsen :
5 Jun 2006 - 20:44    Mary Mrugalski : It only makes sense to invest in students with disabilities. When teachers, lawmakers, and society realizes that every person has a contribution to make to society, they will realize that an investment in all students, including those with disabilities, is an investment in the future.
5 Jun 2006 - 20:52    Traci LaLiberte :

5 Jun 2006 - 20:57    Kim Montgomery :
5 Jun 2006 - 20:58    Daniel Birkhahn-Rommelfanger : These cuts are discrimination. There is plenty of money to give Alderman a raise int he City of Chciago but not to assist deaf students?!
