Goal Progress:
Hospice care is in jeopardy and you are in the position to save it. Hospices provide compassionate care for those reaching the end of life journey, and they do it while saving Medicare. The focus is on caring, not curing, and, in most cases, care is provided in the patient's home. Hospice programs served more than 1.3 million patients and their families in 2006. Americans deserve the rights to have continued access to compassionate end-of-life care. Now is the time to act and the Medicare bill is the right legislative vehicle. If we can enact a delay in implementation of the rule now, we avoid the doubling of the price tag to stop it down the road.
